Audi TT Mk1 - facelift revisions history - What Changed on the Audi TT mk1?

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Have you ever wondered "what were the facelift revisions on the Audi TT mk1?"
Well hopefully I can tell you what changed on the Audi TT mk1 during its facelift.
Does my car have the Audi TT Facelift? is a question I get asked a lot or what was the TT facelift date?
Well the answers, as with anything on the Audi TT mk1, are varied so I hope to tackle many of them here.
The items that changed during the "major facelift" of 2002 were:
Lowered suspension by 20mm
18 Inch Ronal Alloys
Alloy gear knob (replacing the black leather gearknob)
Titanium Headlight Inserts (replacing the black ones)
Later in 2002, the TT also recieved the revised 3 bar grille (replacing the 5 bar grille)
All this happened just 2 months after Audi had included many of these items on the S-Line variant that they charged a premium for!
Hopefully you find the video interesting and useful and it answers some of the questions you may have over the facelift.
Please do leave me a comment,
Andy

I’m a newbie Audi owner got to confess I was umming and arring about owning one after many months of good and bad reviews about the car not just your channel. I wanted a useable everyday classic which was less depreciating. Stumbled on a local car 1999 180 full history mainly all Audi just 50000 warranted miles. Well I bought it today so original ,mats ,first aid kit, dealer plates, untouched toolkit even original radio cassette player 😂😂😂 just so happy. Thanks for your content it has helped👍subbed.👍

The s-line in Australia came with the V6 bumper and the ones I have seen are 2004-2006.

Thanks for that info Marco. It is always interesting to hear about other variants from around the world that came about at the same time. There is a variant of the 1.8T here in the UK with the V6 bumper but that is the Quattro Sport with the black roof.

Very interesting topic AC. I've always been curious as to why some Mk 1's of the apparent same year of manufacture have slight variances and simply assumed that t was down to the specs or extras ordered by the first owners. Interesting to note that the Xenons were originally available as an optional extra way back in 1999. My Mk1 225 coupe, being an Australian car, does not have any of the 2003 facelift features that were advertised for the UK market of the same year, apart from xenon lights, but still with black inserts, the oval-shaped rear view mirror. The 6spead gear stick (I have purchased an updated alloy knob) and grill (I actually prefer the 5 bar grill) are both from the original. I do note that the stearing wheel does not have the audi emblem on it that some earlier models do. I have noted that most Australian 2004 Mk1's and onwards do have these facelift features so I'm assuming Australia was just behind in the loop. Not sure where North American Mk 1's stand in that relation either? Regards S-Line Mk1's, although we have them in Australia, I've yet to come across a QS version with factory rear seat delete or one that has a black roof but I may be corrected here.... I'm wondering if that's more to do with the Australian market and its climate as most States have faily sizzling summers. Same reason there are relatively few black cars in australia - it's a land of white cars! Interestingly insurance companies increase their premiums for cars with black finishes. Perhaps QS's were only produced for the UK/Europe market, as I'm aware that only about 800 or so we're produced for the UK market, hence their popularity as a budding collectors car? Looking forward to your further videos on the Mk1! Cheers, Steve.

Thanks Steve. I wonder if cars in Aus took longer to ship due to the distance so the revisions did not appear until a bit later? Just a thought. Thanks for the comment! 👍

I feel like Dom has handed me off to you when he bid adieu. I thanked him for his guidance with several items, one of the best of which is the USB port install on the vertical plate behind the switch compartment. My beat-up BB roadster was up to, "my specs," and sporting an ergonomic, S, flat bottom steering wheel. Now these. I do have the larger width, 9 spoke wheels waiting for the rubber on the fat fives to wear out. Thank you Andy for carrying on. I'm in OH. Do you have any idea of your reach ? Europe ? Canada ? Australia ? South America ? Africa ? Again, thank you for your work, your creativeness.

He’s still going to active in the scene which is great. I will be carrying on for sure as much of my content is based around the “periphery” TT content, not just how tos. I hope that comes across in the videos. As far as reach goes, it’s wonderful to receive feedback and comments from all around the globe from TT fans. It is very humbling that people all around the world enjoy my content. Thank you for your support! 👍

And further complications. I’ve seen late model 180 2WD versions, 2004, with 3 bar grille, black headlight inserts and non xenon headlights (no ballast). And deeper boot, but that’s probably more a 2WD thing than a facelift thing.

  • @andycharger

    21 күн бұрын

Oval mirror is a bit non descriptive and does not seem to have a definite date. Some early cars have it already. Aero blades seem to be more variant based. My Roadster does not have them and the 3.2 I own does. CD multi hanger Location also seems to vary. As mentioned, there will be another video on variants which will Follow.
