Are Chinese Women Heartless?

They certainly can seem that way according to western standards, but there's a reason for this and I'm going to explain it....

I know a Chinese lady divorced her husband in China then married a Japanese man. That Japanese man worked couple jobs to support her dream to come to the US to study. After she came here, she started dating US citizens because she wanted to get green card. I feel so bad for her Japanese husband or any US citizen might marry her.

its true. I'm Asian and once I broke up with a girl because I saw so many red flags with her parents. When your dating an Asian you have to meet their parents several times and getting to know them well first before moving into marriage. Its unfortunate but thats the reality. So many current boomer generation of parents in Asia are so fucking entitled. We didnt ask to be born for fucking sake, why the fuck do you always said "be grateful we gave birth to you and raise you, so you have to always do what your parents" when we have disagreement to them. I have hope with the current generation tho, we are far more individualists and less family centric than the boomer's generation. As an Asian, fuck these entitled parents.

After being in a relationship with a Chinese girl for 5/5 years, I remember last year, I went on one date with a Chinese girl,. The date went well, but eventually t didn't work out because she freaked out on me because I dared to ask her if she wanted dessert on a dinner date without realizing she was on her period... Chinese women cannot eat ice-cream on a period even though every other type of woman can... Anyway, I heard that BOTH opf her parents were dead and immediately thought to myself, "THIS IS THE ONE".... But there was the ice-cream incident so I guess I'll never know....

Dated a Chinese-American for three years and can confirm. Parents pressuring her to get married = her pressuring me to get married. Wanted her fam to move in with us. I said hell nah, so she said we could go to her parents' house every evening for dinner. Eventually she broke up with me, as her parents ended up not liking me. She came over a few times after that and would turn off her phone so her parents wouldn't know (she used gps location sharing with them). It's quite pathetic.

Similar things happened in my life. I felt I was compelled to get married before 25/26 years old. My ex was heartless and I suffered throughout the years. My parents said:' You should take your .. home so that I can decide if ... is a good match for you.' It was a complete waste of my life in all those many years. I began living by myself and so was away from the influence of my parents which gave me the space to figure out what exactly went wrong and why I felt compelled in all those years. I will not seek marriage in China.

A lot of this reminds of how it is here in Japan, though it's not always exactly the same. But overly-controlling parents, loveless marriages, etc. are more common than I ever would have thought before I came here. The heartless aspect can also be roughly translated to Japan, but I feel like it's less about the family and more about themselves. The most common way for a Japanese woman to break-up seems to be to just stop contacting their partner because of the awkwardness of doing it in person. These countries are so interesting, but the logic between East and West is completely at odds with each other, and it's very frustrating to live in such a polar opposite atmosphere.

It doesn't help that asian cultures in general place pride above all else. Putting the worst sin a human can commit due to all the harm coming from it as the peak virtue is...well...you can just look at any asian country's history. Like, if you do something horrible it's considered better to hide it than to admit it and face the consequences because saving face is more important than accepting shame. As for loveless marriage, that's because of the lack of dutifulness. Or rather, women's lack of dutifulness. Love grows from devotion which cannot exist without a sense of duty to someone or something and acting on that. This is why men, who still fill their traditional roles and therefore have that sense of duty and live by it, fall in love pretty easily with women whereas women casually destroy their relationships and hurt their men and divorce-rape constantly. They're not in love with the guy because they're busy trying to do the same things men do in the belief that what attracts women to men will also attract men to women. As a result of this, they're not dutiful in the slightest and so they feel no devotion and so no love grows. There is no such thing as romantic "love" or love outside of the growth I described. What almost everyone mistakes for love is just a crush. Being an adult doesn't change that.

Huh, that actually helps me. I was friends with a group of Chinese overseas students-as much as a foreigner could be and never understood why the women never dated despite spending years here in the UK just because their mothers had told them not to. Even when I pointed out they’re half a world away from the parents. How could they know? Now I understand. What’s worse is that one of the males showed interest in me and we did date for quite a long time. I don’t regret it, we had good times and I learnt a fair bit. But after we’d all graduated with high to medium scores and it was time for him to either get a job here, potentially with me and taking things to the next level, or go back to China he proverbially dropped me like a hot potato. I wasn’t surprised that he chose to go home as I’d entered the relationship knowing it would likely end after five years of education and graduation. But I was surprised how quickly and cleanly he cut all contact despite agreeing to keep in touch as long distant friends. Not once did he reply and I never understood why. After this video it makes sense. He probably abandoned his email account and phone he used here in the UK. At least things make sense now. And I get the feeling I dodged a bullet. Imagine if I’d gotten pregnant or we married? Yeesh.

the Chinese culture is very conservative. They do not encourage ex-lovers to remain friends, because their future lover will be jealous if they still have contact with their ex. In fact, having single friends of the opposite sex when they are in a relationship is considered sign of bad character and lack of loyalty to lover. For them, it is a norm that ex-lovers cannot be friends. They are just not mature enough to maintain friendships after breaking up.

Very insightful and thought-provoking vlog! It’s a very no nonsense, but truthful approach in cross cultural relations. The lesson here is if you are in a similar situation with a person of opposite sex from a different cultural background, is to do your homework on that person’s cultural background as I’m learning from my marriage to a Filipina being an American myself. The lesson I’m learning from my experience and as you know already Winston is that “family solidarity “ is huge in East Asian cultures in places such as China, Philippines, Vietnam, Korea, Japan, etc. To avoid the pitfalls that many Western people fall into approaching such relationships with rose colored glasses, one must take into account cultural nuances despite that society having a modern face to it. Thanks Winston for this great vlog!

Most of them are. Many Chinese have a tough childhood and very strict parents that makes their little souls numb to the world, and develop their own self-world to stay away from their harsh reality to sooth their pain in what develops narcissistic traits. Narcissism is either inherited or aqurired from trauma, and most likely their parents have it. Sons and daughters are usually extensions of their parents where fits the idea of extreme Filial piety which is a Narcissistic trait. I lived in China for 5 years, where I met an Indonesian Chinese exgf who was heartless and ruthless. Love moves very fast. Manipulation and mind games are common. Love bombing and ruthless discard is super common. Cheating and gaslighting. Their love is not stable, is either super hot or extremely cold.

I'm a British young man and my ex was Chinese. I thought her family was quite modern and seemed quite happy with their daughter dating and potentially marrying me. However, they did always chat about my family business and money, and they did expect me to move to China (although my ex wanted to stay in the UK) for other private reasons. We eventually broke off largely due to COVID and long distance, but she was incredibly cold and ruthless in the breakup period. She broke my heart not once, but twice. I'm still recovering to this day almost 16 months later and now focusing on completing my PhD before dating again. Be careful guys, because I have never met a woman as rationale and ruthless in my life. But I don't blame her and this video explained why. I hope she can be happy and have a comfortable life because I think not many average families can achieve this, but anyway, great video and God bless.

The root of the problem is one of the two: either that your parents did not tell you different people have different priorities in life or that they told you about this but you just forgot. Don't be depressed. Your breakup is an occasion for celebration! You were under an illusion, and by a sequence of fortunate events, you saw the truth and you were saved from a snare. Can you imagine what your life would have been if you had married that woman? A marriage with a woman for whom her old family is a higher priority than her new family is guaranteed to be a disaster. Having been freed from that woman, you can now marry a normal girl and have a happy life! Just don't forget to ask your next girl what her priorities in life are before getting married. What is obvious to you is not so for others, and vice versa.

As you said, it is a common characteristic of Asian women. I lived six months with a Filipino woman whom I loved deeply. Her conversations always came back to the expenses of supporting her daughter soon to move to the United States and her obligations to her mother. She was always talking about another man richer than I am that she was seeing time to time during our dating period, who nevertheless did not show the same attention as I did. She came into my house and I always took care of all the expenses. Although she worked earning more than $4,000 a month twice she came home carrying food for the poor collected at a church. I was embarrassed but tried to understand her vision. One night she didn't come back and after a few days she showed up with a moving crew to move in that richer man's house. For her it was perfectly acceptable to have dated me for a time, received sweetness, sensuality, a place to live for free, and afterwards to return quietly to where he could receive more. No judgement involved. They have a VERY different morality and cultural values. Your video is worth much more than a series of psychotherapy sessions

I remember knowing one girl. She was nice. We went walking around the city. A bus honked it's horn at me and because of an ear infection I already had the noise pierced too sharply through my ear. I gave the middle finger. The family found out and she was forbidden to see me ever again. I tried explaining I had an ear infection and reacting the way I did isn't something I normally would have done. I was told later by another chinese that if I was a chinese person kyself, explaining this would normally get me the benefit of the doubt. But because I am a local immigrant I cannot be forgiven. (I never use the word foreigner or laowai to describe us who live in china).

When my mother calls me shouting every day and moaning and crying for a year eventually i dropped this great girl to please my mother and she is now doing this to my brother for her reasons such as that you annoty marry a girl with divorced parents or something. You can say its wierd but listening to northern europeans about what a family should or shouldn't do is like listening to a footballer talk about physics. They have very weak family bonds and often the mums will throw their kids out at 16. they hardly even know their extended family whom they usually hate or care less about. They hardly ever help their family and rarely even bother with them.

Then They benefited from me without any appreciation when I was in good position. Completely heartless and shameless! My mother even humiliated and mocked my 3 year old nephew for using diaper! So I made wish to move out, and thank god, I moved to Canada by myself. I refused their request to come here living with me. I don’t care what the culture says because the culture is heartless and Wrong!

But just remember, you can have an ex girlfriend, ex wife but you can't have an ex mother (I am not saying that all mother are perfect, and should be put on a pedestral, there are very bad mother that even deserve to be called mother). I would do just about anything for my kids, guaranteed. Now, can most people say this about their spouses? I would do a lot for my husband and I am committed to what we have built, it's not easy but I am extremely commit to our family, but my love for him is not unconditional, most people do not have unconditional love to their spouses.

Asians are heartless because they care for their parents and children. I'm a Pakistani, And I put my parents first not because I'm heartless but because I'm not as heartless as a westerner to throw my parents in an old age home. My parents didn't throw me out of there home when i was 18 they supported me paid for my college not because they are heartless and investing in retirement plan but because they loved me unlike heartless westerners. My parents and most parents don't need any retirement money from government because they save and invest in real estate and other things to easily retire and live on that income if anything they leave huge fortunes for children to inherit they don't pay for children's education for financial assistance after retirement they do it because they love them and don't want to send them away they love and care for there children so that in old age children can love and care for them when they are old and not leave them up in the hands of nurses of hospitals and old age homes just like they didn't send me to day care when i was little they raised me by themselves there is love and bonding unlike heartless westerners who spend 100% of their time making money and their children are being taken care of by day care and their parents are taken care of by old age homes we have families here cause we are not heartless like you.

I have experienced the same issue with the mother of my wife. She expects from her daughter to care for her and she is bringing herself often in a victim's role to get the confirmation that the daughter will be there to help out. That's one of several signs of psychopathy, it has a strong context with egoism. While the parents are (or at least should be) mature grownups and support their children to grow their own family, they act in an egoistic way and ask for unnecessary carrying and sabotaging their lives.

  • @seriouscat2231

A psychopath is a person who does not feel anything about hurting others or being blamed for something, except a sense of inconvenience. A sociopath is emotionless except when blamed for something or made to look bad, which will cause fury. And a narcissist is all about emotions and appearances and pressuring others to pretend and play along. Sociopath lacks an innate sense of guilt whereas a narcissist will fight to avoid experiencing any.

I fully agreed with you on this one even I am a Chinese and married a Chinese wife. Bottom line is we men are supposed to be the bread winner, bring in the income, raise the kids and family, and once we are not capable of doing that for whatever reasons, we are lesser of man, and may even be kicked out of the family because we are simply useless and little value to them. This is the reality many Chinese men will face once they hit over their 50's. Forget about love, these days its the money that counts and manhood is being judged by how much you can bring in. Sad but the truth.

It made me feel like a scapegoat because he never made time for me and I was his lats priority and the source of all this drama, yet he never respected my boundaries. First, I'd like to say: I stumbled across your channel after watching some of your earlier videos - chinese scams, building maintenance, different cultural issues, etc... and I really appreciate the eye-opening peek into chinese culture. I worked with a bunch of chinese people who'd come over to America in the late 90's, early 2000's, and I had one (guy) friend who I'd eat lunch with every day and he'd ask me all kinds of questions about stuff like this. Questions I'd often just be like : Uh. wtf? Why would you even ask that? Nice guy too.. but the cultural differences are (literally) worlds apart. And your videos go a long way to explaining them. Excellently done Winston.

It's not just the Chinese but Russians too. Sadly, I went through with similar situations with our relationship. For a few years, she was loving and caring lady but the worst part for me was that she canceled our wedding days before the ceremony because her parents decided not to proceed due to me rejected to sponsor her family. 'YES' it was a relief in many ways but the emotional pains that I had to go through was unbearable. Unspeakable, she was very cold, heartless towards me. Playing innocent victim and made me feeling guilty AF. The hard part, I have experience is that most women I have known contracted this very same evil sickness. It took me a year to heal myself and to stay strong. Of course, I would sponsor her family, only, if she discuss this with me, but not, just put hard demand onto me without proper explanation. Do I trust women now, so far, no one can prove me their worthy? But, I am sure there are good women out there, somewhere?

Family court is 15 minutes walk from where I live. Lots of men are summoned into court to pay child support. Not every father lives with their kids. And not every mother wants the father living with her. Some women just want kids but not have to deal with a man around the house.

hi, I really don't understand... is it so a BIG problem to sponsor them? if you accept family maybe you should to try to find a point of contact. She requested green card in secret..and so? perhaps she feared, and rightly, a closure on his part...

That is not how the sponsor system works. The relative has to sponsor their own relatives. The husband can provide a financial statement saying he is responsible for them. But American citizens have first preference. She obviously is not an American citizen or else she could sponsor them herself without needing him. Also there is a backlog. China already has many people immigrating to the US. So it could take more than 10 years for her parents to get green cards.

I have a friend who called off an engagement to his fiancee. He agreed with her about the 50/50 culture (American and Chinese). But suddenly, she wants 71, and he gets 39, but he was cheated on and scammed. Because his fiancee's parents are too demanding.

One of the most candid videos I've seen. My Chinese wife of 19 years told me she would divorce me over breakfast, in front of my son, while eating her porridge. She divorced me once before in 2010, but thought better of it two months later. We remarried... Now she's at it again. Only this time we have a child. And she wants a divorce because my business hasn't launched yet. Its shocking... Her family defo comes first even though they treat her badly....She's constantly seeking their approval. It's a terrible trait in Chinese women and I know a few other English men who have experienced the exact same treatment.

My current girlfriend is also mistreated by her family thankfully, however, she is able to ignore them as she is her own business owner and manages her livelihood without them even if she wants their approval. She’s over 30+ at this age they are near the brink of giving up on her, a sad fact

How about this; you don't owe your mother or family anything just for being family. Family can be assholes as well. And I wouldn't want to live with assholes. So if I thought my parents were assholes, I would say: goodbye parents, until never! You must spend your life with the people you like. Family or not doesnt matter.
