I have enjoyed the mini greenhouses. They don’t stand up to high winds. I put a couple of patio stones on the floor and tied twine around them like a Christmas package. Then I anchored them to the top frame. This does make it hard to move around inside but they won’t blow away.

Yes some others have commented that they don't stand up to high winds also. Maybe 4 addition posts sank into the ground then tied on with zip locks to the 4 corners could also be a solution. Then you would have moving about space inside?

I'm so excited to see this channel grow.

Love your plants Hello 👋 from Connecticut USA. I think for the price it’s hard not to at least give it a try . I bought an even smaller one and it worked for protection during the frost season . Happy Gardening

Ye for the price it's worth a try, I was infact going to get the smaller one just for the vanilla, but it was like 30e and I thought for 20e more I can get a much bigger greenhouse and stick all my pitcher plants in it-

I have been thinking about buying one of these. Thank you for sharing

I've gone through 4 of these over the years. All haven't really lasted much more than 4 years. The tubes rust, thr plastic connectors can split, the covers split and can cost as much as the original greenhouse to replace and don't get me started on their ability to stand up to wind. They do however have their place, firstly they are cheap and really easy to put together (unless the odd bar or connector is missing. They are really light weight so can be moved by one person without a problem. They are great for hardening off plants in the spring.

Hey Steve, yeah another commenter said they had a lot of trouble with wind, blowing the thing all around the garden 😲 so it don't seem so ideally suitable for high wind areas. If I can get 4 years out of it that will be pretty nice! I would love to get a permanent set up,I have seen some beauty aluminium greenhouses on Amazon for about 400-600e but for now, budget wise and the fact we will be having to move to a new place that will be for another time.

Got one down the allotment for starting off seeds and it's alright for the price but it is a bit flimsy and I'm not sure how well it will cope with strong winds. I'll probably replace it with a polytunnel eventually but it will do for now.

Well done. Biggest issues with these cheap ones are high winds and snow sitting on the top. Basic modifications are needed.

that is true. Mine is still going strong and its survived part of a tree falling on it, been thrown off a 1 story balcony during the recent storm to save it from been blow to Australia. With modifications as you say and a good place where it can be wedged against something and keep it sturdy, it can cope very well. Think Ill pop out a vid this week about it, how its doing 2-3 years on.

O'Grow-3years,Maryland. Rust bottom poles,4th season.Others 2nd year,1 hole-hail,duct tape.Partially protected and 3 in use.😍

Yeah I'm thinking to put some sand down on the base and get some planks to lay across the floor and then sit the frame on top. That should help reduce possible rust. Rather than it just sat on the floor.

Secret,insulate side walls,Styrofoam. I used nutrisystem shipping containers holds, 2 5gal plants.Balance between to stabilize floor.Floor,6mil poly drop cloths.I m not in North Dakota but we have big westerly winds coming here,and if You balance lg.plants.1inch insulation,Your, gonna think your a genius, while feeding your Family.Regularly check and tuck corners if not anchored,the whole wildlife neighborhood will covet..

I strengthened mine by replacing all the cross pipes and end verticals with stainless. Lots of huge cable ties holding it all together. It still split in all different places. The way the nylon braces the clear plastic makes it very opaque.... never really got many things growing without having to put them out in the sun. Shelves are really flimsy and can't take any weight. Despite lack of use this year it's now really falling apart. I wouldn't bother with these. Ha ha, he's growing exotic stuff in Spain!

😂 well mine held up very well as it is, and we get some very strong winds, but I had it in a corner where the winds are some what reduced by the tree and scrub cover. and wedging it between a post helped stabilize it. It held up against some very strong winds. South Spain is semi tropical, but having something keep the humidity stable helps a lot when growing these plants.

I got one of those, too. It's the green one, half the size. I like it. I has stood up to high winds. It WILL get hot inside, too. Mine doesn't have the windows, though I can open the doorway. I got the green because I didn't want too much light coming though, or it would have made it even hotter.

Brilliant Ann, what do you normally grow in it? I was thinking I might get a few salads going in mine also as in summer here they just bolt, but in there it could be a nice shaded spot with some extra humidity.

@@GreenthumbsGarden - I was starting all my veggies for the garden. I had it next to my back porch for the time being a few months ago. I had tomatoes, peppers, melons and a few other things starting out. Then some guys came to repaint the metal roof (it's 90 yr old house) and the owner of the business picked up my greenhouse and moved it. I didn't realize that he didn't pull up the steaks first! I came outside to find it ripped out of the ground AND ALL my plants dumped on the ground! I was so upset. I tried to put back together whatever I could find. And then later when they were done they moved it AGAIN, back to where it had been. And again, everything was on the ground, gone. I was SO upset to find this that I called my landlady in tears. They offered to pay for damages (so the wouldn't have to go after the owner of the business). I said no way, because it wasn't THEIR fault. All I could do was start over, which I'm doing now.

My experience with these ultra-light greenhouses is that they are absolutely brilliant and works 100% as they should, until first summer thunderstorm. Then you can pretty much go look for the debris at the closest dense hedge or waterbody.. They cant withstand hard weather! That also man that it is a must to at least remove the cover for winter. Bottomline: IF you have a spot in your garden where hard winds are impossible, then all is fine. If _not_ all is a shredded _mess_ 🌀

thanks for the feedback mate. Put mine in a corner where the winds are not so strong and its wedged against the washing pole and a small wall so that will help. I might put a couple of sand bags down tow just to make sure.

Hey Alex, thank you so much for your informative videos. I just bought one of this greenhouse to put my tomatoes and herbs plants. My plan is to make your DIY MIST MACHINE using Ultrasonic Humidifier and installed your DIY Humidity Sensor Switch Connection. My question for you is: Do you think I have to add something else to maintain my tomatoes and peppers plants healthy inside to the greenhouse? I am in Orlando Florida and summer time could be really hot around 98F. In winter (practically is not winter in Florida jajajja) the temperature can reach 50 F or a little low, so I am not worry about frozen. Thank you so much

a very similar climate that we have here, maybe more humid in Florida. You probably wont need the humidifier for just growing vegs, just a misting with a spray bottle will help. One thing I would add is an extractor fan at the top side to help blow out the hot air in summer and connect it to a thermostat switch. Id done this but not finished the job off yet as its winter here and its not an issue, but I noticed the temps got very hot in summer and I had to leave the door open just to make sure my plants did not over heat.

i also had one yes flimsy and zip went on door so sent it back shame as i was tempted to get another to put over plants in winter but its a lot of money when you don't have much money

that's true. I always say cheap stuff is not really cheap if its not going to stand up and brake. You actually end up paying more in the long term

Well, I've had one of these for a little over a year. Wish mine had those two "window vents" on either side like yours does. Yes, those wire shelves are flimsy as all get out!! So far, I have NOT been impressed with mine. When the wind blows through my back yard, this plastic greenhouse is like a big huge balloon. I have lost pots of different plantings that were toppled over as the wind toppled OR picked up and carried the greenhouse across the backyard and up against the neighbor's fence!! I've had numerous times of trying to find all the poles and flimsy wire shelves scattered around my backyard after the latest storm blew through. So now, I got a bunch of rope and expensive camping tent pegs. A friend helped me in basically hog tying the dadblame thing with ropes crisscrossing over the top, and tied to the heavy duty camping tent pegs. THEN FOUR 50 LB Bags of top soil are on the bottom poles, where the bottom shelves are supposed to be. I've spent more on supplies to try to hold this thing to the ground than what the plastic greenhouse cost me!! And I have yet to even successfully grow anything in it!! We'll see what happens as I get stuff going for Fall crops. Would I recommend this plastic greenhouse? Hmmmm, NOT if your area gets heavy winds with storms!!! After all the trouble I've had repeatedly having it toppled by heavy winds, I don't consider it a "Garden Friend" anymore!!!

That sounds very frustrating! I'll see how I get on when it is windy here, I have it wedged where it is so maybe that will help. Maybe I'll put some more pins down also just incase but it pretty sheltered where it is. Thanks for letting us know 😊

😅 I can imagine. On windy nights... I never slept easily. I had mine wedged in between a low sloping wall and a washing line post, and that kept is very sturdy. the trees and scrub sheltered the worst of the wind and it held up.

Used this plastic greenhouse first time this year. Big wind issues! It broke in many places cause of winds. I won't be using it again.

they can be if left on there own. I live in a very windy area but having it but up next to a wall and some large pots on the other side has kept it pretty stable so far.

I left it out all year and so far its in good shape. In fact since we moved its still packed away... its on my to do list to put it up... lol

Should be fine, what do you grow in your terrarium? I would make a fogger also like I'm going to do next so you have some way to pump up the humidity.

I had this setup for about 3 years; replaced the plastic cover for a shade net; it worked great until rust finally broke though the poles. Not bad considering the price uh? 🙂

because without it the plants would cook. In south Spain it gets very hot. I was only using the greenhouse tent to lock in a little extra humid and give a little more of a stable environment for my nepenthes and vanilla orchid. They want bright light but not full on direct.

The first link is the one to this greenhouse in the video, but last i saw it was unavailable in the US, and seems unavailable now. The other link is to the closest I could find that is very similar. The one I got has 2 rows of shelves. I'll have a look of there are any newer products out on Amazon that is the same. This one has been ideal, and is still holding up strong.

An actual greenhouse is going to set you back more than 60$ Had this one over two years, its survived having a tree limb fall on it, been thrown off a terraced down 1 stories high, gale-force winds. For the price I paid, I cant complain. Depends on what you really need.

@@GreenthumbsGarden More like it survinved a twig falling on it & a gentle breeze blew it off the terrace. Aside from it being structurally weak, & will fly like a kite if it's not anchored down... it would be completely useless at protecting plants when it snows.

They are ok as long as you live somewhere where there's no wind at all. Even if you reinforce the stakes with re-bar the cheap metal tubes break off of the re-bar! The plastic sometimes fails and rains tiny plastic particles all over your crops. Complete garbage. Build your own using cattle panels wedged between t-stakes covered with a uv protected approved greenhouse plastic that you can buy by the foot
