Hey Mel, I just want to stop and say I love your calm and relaxing demeanor. I think you should keep making videos!
Well done my friend. These inexpensive greenhouses are great, but are very light and not strong. Reinforcement is key.
Thanks for sharing. I recently ordered a greenhouse and you've given me many ideas. I can't wait for it to come.
One word BRILLIANT xxx🤗😀
That is so cute! I got one of these greenhouses but it's still snowing here so haven't put it up yet. It gets really windy, too & staking the sides is a great idea! I really like the pavers with the pots & stuff on the sides & the pea gravel for drainage. You've given me some really great ideas & helpful hints! Thank you! 😊
Thanks so much Mel. Ordering the zip ties now. Just spent hours putting up a greenhouse, and have the landscaping fabric and rebar. The zip ties are a great idea for reinforcement and for the shelves. Thanks again.
I just had mine green house delivered thanks for great ideas for strengthening and making a nice floor. I appreciate your well done video. I’m in Missouri and it’s still cold but I’m ready to start some seeds as soon as I get my green house together.
This is exactly what I’m looking for, almost the same greenhouse. Those stones and pea gravel on the inside will be a great source of humidity also. Thanks so much for sharing your technique with us.
The paving idea is so good and looks really nice, thanks for the tips
Yes, this is very helpful. I'm a beginner. Thanks!
Great tips. I actually have the double greenhouse just like yours and had the horror of picking it up after the wind blew it over last year so I'll be using some of your tips thank you so much take care God bless
Thanks for all the tips!
Thanks for sharing that practical tip. Mel.
Many thanks for a very articulate and descriptive explanation for a lady who needs it.
Super job! Thank you!
Thanks for the video. You convinced me to buy one. I was hesitant about buying one because of the reviews. I figured I might have to reinforce it somehow and you showed me how to do so. Thanks, now I can winterize my plants this year with the greenhouse modifications.
Thanks for your great reinforcement ideas. I'm looking for my first inexpensive greenhouse and will definitely be using your ideas.
Thank you for taking the time for this! Great ideas. repurposing tree stakes is a fantastic idea.
Thank you so much for the information. I purchased an 8x10 green house from Amazon for my husband. We were concerned when it arrived how to reinforce it. Your video was very helpful.
Lovely, thank you for the video and tips.
Thank You for the input. I just bought myself a greenhouse and the tips will help out alot. Thank you so much. 🤘🏻🤘🏻
I just received my walk-in greenhouse. This video has been very helpful, now I have a better idea on how to make it stronger. Thank you
Wow, what a great idea...very helpful. Thanks!🙂
Thank you so much for this video. Lovely presentation as well.
This is very helpful Thankyou! 🌸
Well done, excellent video!
Thank you for this idea
Brilliant idea 💡
Great idea. Just purchased my second greenhouse. The other one blew away. We had another wind day and I watched my greenhouse house struggle to stay up. These ideas will help a lot. Thank you. I have subscribed to your channel. ❤
These are great ideas! Definitely getting some stakes and zip ties for mine.
Got a couple of these, thanks for the tips!👍
Looks really nice!
Hello Mel, thank you for this video! My greenhouse got taken away by the wind, so here I am.

good, now you have learned to build the frame with wood and plastic skin on inside and outside for added warmth with still air between two layers and a cotton rope over it to anchor down...much cheaper in the long run. only question left is what shape will you choose? i chose a quanset style so the skin lays over the rounded roof and drapes down the sides which means most of the skin is one big rectangle and that is how the plastic is sold.
This video was lovely to watch and very informative I’m going to pass this video along to other!
Did a really nice job, it all looks so pretty.
Great job !!! I've found the black zip ties last longer than the white ones. A small green house is good for starting seedlings. A 250 watt infer-red bulb can add enough heat for the winter. This is my plan. Hopefully it will work.
Great Video.Thanks👍
Wish I would have seen this vid before today. Had strong winds and heavy rain and my greenhouse blew over twice and lost several plants I almost gave up but imma try this method out. Thank you for sharing. New subie ❤️ 😎

throw a cotton rope over that baby and anchor it down!
amazing info!! perfect wind for this video
Great video thanks
Thank u for sharing ❤
Job well done . I would have used the wooden fence as the main support by strapping the inner frame through the plastic and screwing it to the timber fence which looks very secure and stable . I would have done this on all eight points of the greenhouse therefore avoiding any trip hazards . Happy gardening from Australia 🦘
Nice job Yes the wind seems to be the biggest problem with these portable green house , B C Canada
Best ideas I hv yet to see , thank u

Nice! ❤ Thank you.
Thanks! I got some great ideas from this that I plan to use! :)
Nice. Thanks for info
It looks beautiful where you placed it and what you have under on the floor. Thanks for the ideas❤🇨🇦
Nice job, I just got mine today!!

Thank you. This was helpful.
This video was very helpful for me, thank you
Such good ideas, and so achievable. Thank you,
Your idea works very very well thank you
Very nice job! Very helpful😊
Thanks for the walkthrough. I have one greenhouse but am planning to purchase a bigger one. Your video for stabilizing them is exactly what I needed to see! Including the groundwork because now I can also make it level which also helps with its stability. Thanks again. Subscribed♥️
Thank you for sharing how you reinforced your greenhouse. I did this search because I was looking for ways to recure my two 17ft x 7ft x 7ft greenhouses and not take away from their appeal. I like how you are using the large pavers. I was planning to put some down in my backyard for my fire pit table and patio chairs. How are your plants doing? do you grow vegetables in your backyard? Again, thank you for sharing your video on securing your greenhouse.

Very nice. Great tips. I just got mine and was a bit disappointed after watching negative reviews from other people. Looks like you’ve really made it work. I had planned to reinforce mine. Your video is definitely helpful. I do love the flooring and setup you have. Love the solar lights. I may try those. I plan to run little led lights if possible.. but these solar light might be much easier. Thank you. Excellent video. 😊
Great idea with the solar lights 😀
Thanks so much for this , Ive gotten some amazing tips from you as gale force winds love to visit us here even in summer. And mines has ended up the neighbours garden already. Yes this video was extremely helpful, thanks again from Scotland. I hope you're greenhouse is doing well. Subbed 🏴🪴

I like these reinforcement ideas. it would be nice of course if they just made them sturdier in the first place, but when you're in a temporary space or when you're on a budget, these inexpensive greenhouses can't be beat. Thanks for sharing this! IDK if you will see this comment as it's two years later, but in case you do, I'm curious as to how it's held up in that time? Oh! You answered this just a month ago I see, good to know it's held up well!
Wow, a jet powered green house, cool.
Great job!!!!I just bought this same greenhouse and I love it. Growing peppers , garlic , cilantro and parsley. This video helped me so much thank you
Nice informative video, I just hope that people will shop around before purchasing one. The one that I have from Wayfair, has torn already and one of the zippers has broken. Your covering looks to be a much better quality compared to the one that I have, which resembles a plain sheet of plastic 81.00 wasted I guess

a wood frame is easy to build and doesn't have to be perfect and the plastic for the skin and a small hand powered staple-gun is cheap and easy but do not forget to throw a piece of cotton rope over it. with a wood frame it is not difficult to provide an inside and an outside skin so that the still air between two layers is warmer..... live and learn, no mistakes, only lessons!
Wow talk about make the most of it worth your time
❤
Love it! I’ll be doing the same 😄
Hello, looks great. I’m putting mine up today. One question, did you leave the plastic cover up during the winter? I’ve seen some videos talking about how it deteriorates.
@gardeningwithmel
2 жыл бұрын
I've left mine up and it is still going strong. I'm in ZONE 9a in Texas, so we don't have much of a winter, but if you live in a zone that has harsher winters you could cover it with a tarp or blanket if you choose. But, if I notice deterioration over the years I would just purchase another one, they don't cost much!
I got a small on and tied it to my post and then I put 4 bricks around it now I did get like the one in the video I'm gong to put it near my shed
Hello 😊 My beautiful daughter just bought me one of these. Thank you for yr tips. I think I will do the same reinforcements to mine. 😊 Can I ask a question? You said at the beginning of the video that people would be bringing their indoor plants out to the greenhouse. What season would it be? I really don't know much about this. I have a lot of indoor plants. Would my indoor propagation and indoor baby plants benefit from this greenhouse in Winter in Melbourne Australia? Wouldn't it be cold for them or is the green house warm in Winter too?
Just found your channel. 😊

Great tips for reinforcing the greenhouse! I just purchased one on Amazon, and planning to do the same with yours. May I ask if you take the green house down during off season? I read on the reviews that the plastic cover won't last very long if being left on the entire year. I would like to know how I can extend the life of my green house. Some people say they spray theirs down with uv protection but I have no idea with which ones to get.

Since I live in zone 9a which I leave up all year long and don't plan to take down. For the price I paid so far it is doing well, with no issues. If I notice any breakdown or wear and tear, I'll just repurchase and reinforce it the same way.

I attached a thin bamboo blind to the top/roof, and used the cords to tie it down. This gives it abit of protection from the sun, [plants too], and using tent pegs to secure, this just anchors it down. I saw on other site, the plastic will perish, leaving bits on ground, so either put away in winter or look to cover the whole thing??
Thank you!! You've convinced me to purchase two 4x4 units and use old shipping pallets to reinforce and anchor the structure. It'll also give me a flat surface to build a astroturf floor. You're 💯!
You protect your greenhouse by choosing the right end wall shape and the correct tunnel shape. Ones that will resist the wind.
Thank you for great tips . It has been helpfull, I will start garden this year. Your greenhouse look beautiful and tidy, love how you did floor. Have a nice day.
Where I live it Snows would I be able to put a avocado plant in the green house? Great video Thanks

Unfortunately not during the late fall and winter months. But if you have some type of heating system installed during the colder months, it could possibly work. But I would recommend bring the plant indoors, if possible.

There are some frost hardy species, try to find one of those.
Thanks for the education. How can that style greenhouse be reinforced if it’s out in open wind like in the middle of your beautiful yard? .d

In my opinion, you could do it the same way,but with more zipties. But personally, I wouldn't recommend it. Not sure it would last as long.

I guess it depends on the location. Is it up against a fence or wall? Not sure could just also be the quality of the greenhouse itself.
So did you burry the walls a few inches under the gravel? I'm getting a 12x9 one soon, wanted to do similar type of gravel, paver floor.. Just wonder your thoughts.. Thank you! Nice tour!!!! : )

@@gardeningwithmelThank you Mel for all these great tips! I got a clear plastic greenhouse that is almost 60 inches high. I bought it for something other than gardening. Now I am going to use the greenhouse (unzippered) as a shelter for the bunnies, chipmunks and mice that scurry around our backyard. Using those larger garden stakes to secure a greenhouse is genius! I have those and the zip ties. You have such a calm and soothing voice...could listen to you talk all day 💝
