At first there was only Catholics. The word Catholic and Christian was interchangeable. When Protestantism began then we start seeing the differentiation of Catholic from Christian. So if someone is validly baptized and believe Jesus is God; then technically they are Christian. However the fullness of Christianity is found in a CAtholic following their faith. Outside of that you are only Christian to the degree you mimic and follow the Sacramental Catholic Faith.

Fair enough :) But, He doesn't mind receiving that glory in His Saints. That's why He crowns Saint Paul. So that by honoring Paul we may honor the good work that God accomplished in Paul. (2 Tim 4:8)

Love is not a competition. That is the sin of idolatry, when one's love or desire for something enters into a competition with God. Whoever or whatever you honor for the sake of God is not in competition with God.

The Bible says that a man’s children are his glory. 3 Lo, sons are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb a reward. 4 Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the sons of one's youth. 5 Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them! He shall not be put to shame when he speaks with his enemies in the gate. Psalms 127:3-5 So you argue in vain.

These are a few of my favourite CATHOLIC things: 1. The Holy Bible = CATHOLIC (predating Protestantism by over 1,000 years) 2. The Holy Trinity = CATHOLIC 3. Authority of the one true church Jesus established on earth = CATHOLIC (starting with Saint Peter as its first Pope in 33 AD) 4. Apostolic succession = CATHOLIC (starting with the replacement of Judas in 33 AD) 5. Jesus = CATHOLIC (Jonathan Roumie in The Chosen) 6. The holiest people to have ever lived = CATHOLIC Saints (check out the incredible WWII story of Maximilian Kolbe) 7. The most significant force for good in human history = The CATHOLIC CHURCH (for 2,000 years, establishing universities, schools, hospitals, charities of all kinds, social programs, and your western way of life by defending Christianity against the spread of Islam) Protestants can keep their unBiblical sola scriptura, Prosperity Gospel or whatever other man made abomination they follow. Catholics have the true 2,000 year old gospel.

That is interesting, I do have a few questions so I will be adding more than one reply. In regard to the replacement of Judas, did Peter tell us it was because of Psalms, prophecy, that he did it? Had Jesus told the Apostles they would sit on the 12 thrones in heaven over the 12 tribes? He set a standard, he said one had to be present from Jesus's baptism thru His ascension, to be a witness. Do your Priests or Pope's meet this standard? They had 2 who were qualified, why not add both? If it was on a one for one replacement how did the Catholic Church take it from 12 to tens, hundreds of thousands? The Apostles were able to heal the sick and raise the dead, why is it your Catholic Apostles can only do the one that has no physical proof, forgiving sins? When James was killed and Peter imprisoned when he escaped why didn't he replace James? Why didn't John replace the 11 before he died?

Why do Catholics brag about the Catholic church collecting the letters used to form our New Testament when the Catholic church claims what is in scripture doesn't lead you to salvation. They claim unum Sanctum, no salvation outside the Catholic Church. This means no Christian in the history of the world, as well as in the New Testament were saved.

Lots of questions indeed. I’m not sure I fully understand the angle of some of them so suggest we go back to the basics first and from an ex Protestant who is a scholar not only in the bible, but also of the language, history, and context. He presents it very clearly for you: kzread.info/dash/bejne/mJV9pI-sf6Wqe84.htmlsi=eJQOcObDRK4kWdv4 Stay until the end for the analogy of the ship and rafts.

The saints have God's ear! They have His ear in a way that we don't - not that God doesn't listen to us, He does, but the saints are already in Heaven with Him, with a different perspective on us than we're capable of having of ourselves. There's a reason why they're saints, because they saw the world differently than the people around them and interacted with the world appropriately on account (Saint Pio is an obvious example). Just for starters, they're a lot more conscious of sin than we are. Mary Magdalene understands better than most the nature of sin, I NEED to pray to her on the daily for help with Penances - not gonna lie, I can always use the assistance. And what about Saint Gertrude's prayer? God releases 1,000 souls from Purgatory every time you pray it. Why would anyone _not_ do that? This idea that there is some kind of harm in praying to saints is strange to me, idk.

Tertullian, A.D. 200 - "[T|he apostolic churches transmit their lists: like the church of the Smyrneans, which records that Polycarp was placed there by John, like the church of the Romans, where Clement was ordained by Peter" (Demurrer Against the Heretics 32:2). St. Cyprian of Carthage, A.D. 251 -"The Lord says to Peter: 'I say to you, he says, 'that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my Church, and the gates of hell will not overcome it.'16 ... On him he builds the Church, and to him he gives the command to feed the sheep,' and although he assigns a like power to all the apostles, yet he founded a single chair, 18 and he established by his own authority a source and an intrinsic reason for that unity.... If someone does not hold fast to this unity of Peter, can he imagine that he still holds the faith? If he [should] desert the chair of Peter upon whom the Church was built, can he still be confident that he is in the Church?" (The Unity of the Catholic Church 4).

The issue is that the Catholic Church claims unum Sanctum, no salvation outside the Catholic Church. The difference between christians and catholics are the traditions created by the Catholic Church that arent in scripture. If salvation cannot be grasped by what Jesus taught and the apostles preached but only in new teachings, than the christian foundation is useless and only in the new gospel created by the Catholic Church saves us.

@CameronRiecker That is true, His church would adhere to His teachings, correct? Tell me where Jesus or the Apostles taught you to seek Mary, to pray to her? That she was the mother of God, the new ark, the queen of heaven? Where did Jesus or an Apostle tell you she remained a Virgin her whole life? A co-redeemer with Jesus? That she never sinned? Surely His Church would tell you where you were told this? There are many churches in the New Testament, none were told to submit to the church in Rome or a pope, a position not found in the New Testament. We were called Christians in the New Testament. None entered into a booth to whisper your darkest secrets to a man hiding in the shadows. None said the rosary, none practiced what the Catholic Church teaches today. Yes, His church would adhere to His Word, not follow teachings that came centuries later.

@@CameronRiecker Of course protestants don't agree they are in protest. There are so many sects some can't even get right if infant baptism is right or not. When Jesus was taken to temple at 8 days old like all Jewish boys, does no one see parallel there what parents are doing for their children, bringing them into the covenant? John Wesley founded the Methodist. John Knox / John Calvin founded the Presbyterians, etc etc. Jesus founded 1 church, the orthodox are what are described as the other lung of the church that broke off in 1054. Now our God loves everyone but are you pleasing to God, and the Catholic Church does teach concept of Invincible ignorance, some just don't know. God Bless you we still part of the mystical body of Christ through baptism.

My experiences have been when I destroy the logic and point out the obvious flaws of their lies like “Mary worship” (for worship always demands a sacrifice even in the times of Abraham and further back) I am met with such anger, hatred, pride, and hostility because I want to help them but they don’t want the Truth. Protestantism has become more of a cult of the Devil than anything else and we need to do a better job as Catholics and take back social media and the online space from all the lies floating around about Catholicism and help our young Catholic brethren especially those under 20 realize how evil the modern culture is and why it leads to death both now and forever.
