Prelims ho gaya na before this video? Most probably they made video on it purposely now :)

One thing apart from section 57,and 167 crpc article 22(2) also says an arrested person to be produced before nearest Magistrate within 24 hours . Section 57 should be read with section 56 which also stress on same thing I.e, an arrested person to be produced before magistrate without unnecessary delay . Though section 167 is a sort of exception where delay is condoned upto certain days . These sections should always be read together section 56, 57 ,167 and article 22(2 ).

Remand is used under sec 209 and 309 of CrPC. Under section 167 detention is authorised. And not remand. Correct me if I am wrong

As far as General public knows in police custody the police can torture hit and sometimes as a result there can be custodial death. But in judicial custody police can not directly torture.
