I actually had an elite series 2 that pushing down on one of the thumb sticks no longer did anything. I contacted Microsoft and not only did they send me a new core elite 2, minus the sticks and triggers, they honored the warranty and I only had a couple months left. So my personal experience this past year was pretty good. The replacement controller has worked with no issues.

I've actually had a good experience using the warranty for my Elite Series 1 controller. It was just outside of the warranty window and they still took it back and gave me a new one.

Personally the warranty for the ES2 always goes smoothly for me. Fill the form online and about 5 working days later I get a refurbished/tested controller. And if you received an inadequate product a few times and email the warranty team you can receive a brand new controller with paddles and thumbsticks in a brown box, not an original package.

People are sleeping on this channel. The info/data is pricess, not to mention the editing is very good.

I live in the UK, and I warrantied two controllers so far. It was as easy as filling info on a website, printing a postage sticker and delivering to DHL’s pickup place. Few days later I received my controllers, no problem or hassle. The only issue I had was UPS screwing up the delivery, which then turned out nearly impossible to contact Microsoft to let them know UPS sent the controller back to them.

Speaking on behalf of PlayStation warranty, I can say with certainty that they are honored, as long as you contacted support within the warranty period. the process is straightforward and as long as you play along with the simplest troubleshooting steps provided over the phone or email, 2 minutes later you have prepaid shipping labels provided to you.

Can you make a tier list of controllers so we can figure out what to buy? My second Xbox Elite controller just died permanently and I want to know whether I should invest in a new, more durable paddled controller, or if I should pay for third party repairs instead.

I'd love this too! I've been looking into controllers for PC, but i don't know which to get... Not enough information in one place to make an informed decision.

Xbox wireless works off of 5220mhz band with a 6mb/s data rate. The controller or console provides a QOS port (quality of service). If any data besides the controller is seen along the channel it chose, it will switch, giving you a dedicated RF frequency. Useless information, but it might intrigue you.

XBOX wireless is 5ghz, you can see this by using the xbox wireless adapter for windows and using an android app that shows ssid signal strength(wifi analyzer) you can see the "unknown" ssid on the 5ghz band and if you unplug the adapter it goes away.

If you plug it in in Linux, you will also see it is a WiFi chipset. It is most likely running a hidden access point and the controllers connect to it and pass events over a socket. I assume many of these dongles work in a similar way, as the tech is very cheap and well understood.

Got to use Sony support for the PS5 controller I got with the console since R2 was acting up : 1 mail, 1 phone call (5 minutes top) and they asked me to send the controller to their repair center, free of charge. They took the cost of the shipping for themselves. I can honnestly rate it 5/5. Since then, no issue with my controller at all. They can count me in for the DualSense pro when it comes out.

I bought an Elite Series 2 controller back in December of 2021, and they had a 1-year warranty in place at that time, not just for the core. And of course, my B button went out after about 6 months, and the RMA was actually not bad at all. It was done online after registering the controller, and they had me send back the controller ONLY (no paddles, no sticks, no case, so I kept all that stuff), and after a couple weeks, I got back a factory sealed Elite Series 2 in-box. So I got a brand new controller, but also an extra case complele with paddles and sticks.

@@jcramirez77 I bought it on Amazon, likely through the Microsoft Store seller. But it shouldn't matter where you buy it as I believe the 1 year warranty is a manufacturer warranty. So as long as its brand new, and you register it on Microsofts website, it should be active from when you bought it.

I have been using 8bitdo controllers for a while now, over my official Switch Pro and Xbox One X controllers. Quality, reliability and features cannot simply be beaten.

I didn’t have any issues getting my elite series 2 controller warranty honored. It was all via text online. I had to rma it like 3 times which is a completely different issue but RMA was through the Microsoft site and text. Never really tried calling

Elite series2 warranty claim 1 went well and replacement arrived, it was just as bad as the one I returned. Warranty claim 2 address label email was hacked causing a different address label to print. My controller is now stolen and there is no way to contact microsoft as there is no tick box for what happened. Virtual assistant callback feature doesn't work.

any chance victrix makes a wired version of that pro BFG for xbox ? that thing looks miles better than the gambit 😿

Actually, I got an elite series 2 included with the 2nd hand pc I recently with about 1 year warranty left on it (I life in The Netherlands btw). It had/has the ABXY button input issue. Even without a receipt I simply registered the controller under my Microsoft account and started a warranty return request. I provided them with a short explanation of the issue at hand and got all the instructions on how and what to send the controller via email from them. Handed it off at the UPC point the next day (free shipping included!). Got a notification that it arrived a day or 2 after that and within 1.5 weeks I got it back in my hands. No trouble getting in touch or hassling about warranty related or nothing. Very easy very fast. Also, the Microsoft department I had to ship it to was located in Germany. So that made the time it took all together even more impressive in my opinion. Although I've got to admit that Microsoft does explicitly mention that if the controller was beyond repair or if the repairs would take longer than expected a replacement controller be provided instead and that replacement could possibly be a refurbished one. (I checked the serial number and it's still my own controller. Just thought I'd mention the possibility of them sending a refurbished one instead of a brand new one. Which in theory should be as good as new). At first, I thought they'd fixed the issue but after only a couple of days the issue returned and it is especially noticeable when playing a game like Rocket League. So tomorrow i will send it back for a second time since the warranty still lasts until next summer and no matter if they fix it or send me a new one or whatever. That warranty won't be extended so until the last day the warranty is valid and there is any issue I will send it back to them as often as I can. Maybe it won't fix something that has been known to be an issue for as far back as the Xbox 360 controllers (stick drift, ABXY issue, etc....) but I will keep sending it back over and over again just because I can. For the rest I think it's awesome controller and of course I hope they're gonna fix it instead. All together I'd give the controller a 3.75 out of 5 and as far as the warranty service goes I'd say 4/5. Hopefully I'm not the only one to have a positive experience like this! One Love! ❤

You should do top 3 controllers for pc under 60 bucks and other top 3 for PlayStation and Xbox.

Serious question I play mainly apex and cod. I’m on Xbox I’ve had a few controllers I did battlebeaver had some big issues with them tried to reach out to cinch but there customer support was god awful. What would you say the best Xbox controller is for apex and cod?!

Also Im getting the bfg. I used your code for a aim controller and not even joking it broke within 3 weeks, I used aim controllers for 3 years and 2 of the 3 controllers I got from them broke within 1-2 months. Granted I play a lot anyway really looking forward to the bfg and the edge pro.

As far as I can find info, they will put it only on the nintendo version for an unknown reason. Shame really. Wonder if I can just disassemble it and put the XYAB buttons on the right places since I'd use it on PC only.

I bought an extended 2 year warranty for my Elite controller through the Microsoft website, The replacement process was easy and took less than a week.

I remember as a kid I use to always get madcatz ps2 controllers just because I liked how they looked not caring about the DualShock being better

I got the elite 2,scuf,razer Wolverine,victrix gambit and a battle beaver. They all have there pros and cons but my favorite is the scuf and close second is the battle beaver. Outside the elite 2 paddle design it’s not my jam.

I bought a aim controller for my ps5 a few months ago and I finally used it for mw2. Not a big fan of the dualsense in general just doesn't feel good in my hands. I think the elite 2 might be the best controller I have ever used and I have had no issues with it. I should of just got mw2 on series x but felt bad I never use my ps5. I will have to try the dualsense edge before I would purchase it but I can't imagine it would be a whole lot better than the aim. I just don't think the paddles are comfortable on a dualsense. I'm always adjusting my hands to use them and my elite just fits like a glove.

My warranty process on one of my controllers was a breeze with Microsoft. I made a claim online, they emailed me a UPS label, I dropped it off, and then I received a replacement a week and a half later.

I purchased a standard xbox series controller from microsoft store; requested subsitution due to analog drift. I sent my old controller and after they sent me a new one for free

I like my DIY ExtremeRate DualSense.

I’ve never needed to activate my Xbox controller warranty, I’ve sent loads in to be repaired, here in England everything has a minimum of one year, higher end tele's the standard is usually five or six year warranty. So I wouldn’t ever import a controller as it’s not worth the risk of it breaking and being screwed over with a pathetic six month warranty on a $200 purchase or whatever.

Can get the warranty honored if the company is around in X years. That should be noted when selected.

Could you review the 8bitdo ultimate wired controller for Xbox? I’m curious as to your opinion on it particularly for fps games

I have had no xbox standard controllers fail on me. I have not owned a elite series because with all the complaints i dont think i want to. I have had a ps controller fail on me. It was easy to get a replacement though.

oem is usually the way to go for an all around good experience. not necessarily the best. I have found that 3rd party has a tendency to miss something in regards to quality feeling.

I had Nacon Unlimted Pro controller for PS4 and During warranty period (1 year) my R1 stop working so I ask directly by customer service at Nacon to get it fixed/ replacement. The ask for proof of purchase, i did send email back with all they Ask. The end results - silence, ignorance from Nacon. I had it fixed by external company & immidiately sold it out. Don't buy directly from Nacon, you will disappointment.

Scuf customer support was amazing for me.

I want a fps controller to have all four trigger buttons designed like L1 and L2 on the DS4 or Dual sense controller. So many literally black 🕳 time with customizing L2 and R2, after fps games used L1 and R1 from the beginning. Just give me a ds4/PS5 controller with all the fps options and all four triggers the same as L1 or R1.

In short, yes. I have so many third party controllers and his is what I have found. Mod your existing one if you can. Most high end features you don’t even need or will use. You kontrol freeks, back paddles, done. Maybe some foam rings for the sticks, but that is it. Mod it yourself, save a ton of money and you get the highest quality controller all the third party ones are trying to be.

OEM on every aspect, yes. but if you're looking for extra functions like turbo and back buttons then 3rd party controllers are good.

Just checked it out. looks like a high quality budget/entry level wired Xbox controller. I will try to get one on the table for review.

I literally just tried out 20 controllers, that are new reviewed well enough from amazon. Not considering any modded controllers, rgb crazy color controllers, warranties, long term ownership or competitive fps performance. The 1st party controllers xbox elite 2, ps5, and switch pro all had higher quality feeling buttons than most all of the 3rd party controllers. Only a couple 3rd party controllers didn't have cheap feeling buttons and also felt reasonable in the hand. I wouldn't recommend any of them over 1st party controllers besides the base $45 Xbox Series controller. However the 8bitdo Xbox, MSI Force GC30V2, Turtle Beach Recon and PowerA Enhanced were decent alternatives. Only the MSI is wireless on pc out of those, and all 3rd controllers don't have 100% support with all applications on pc. If you use emulators most work with Retroarch, most don't work with PCSX2 or DuckStation emulators outside of retroarch. I didn't try the Victrix Gambit because the Victrix Pro BFG is coming out in a couple months.

Not sure what you talking about. Yes by default you have just 3 month warranty for xbox gamepads. But if you register it online you will get at least one year. In my case i for three freaking years of warranty for blue series gamepad. And support not that bad for either sony or microsoft. Both pickup gamepads and return them after few weeks. But at QC three of them (plus Nintendo) sucks for sure. It's just insane that for example Microsoft can't made reliable working abxy buttons for second generation.

Yes. First Party and Third Party have pros & cons, DualSense can you give you same experience when play in the game who have option for it, You never found any controller who can have that. Xbox Controller got big support from microsoft even steam support it directly, connect it to pc and you dont need think anything about it, also dont forget the many game using this layout so you will familiar with controller. Third Party controller maybe have other good features first party cant have, but you can see many peope complain about it. but First party you see it almost nobody complain about it. Fact : i have good third party controller, it can have force-feedback trigger who can simulate adaptive trigger, have software to config it and manymore, but i still prefer using my DS4 to play.

Being QCed by a human in a factory is only better if that said human cared about their product. Which isn't the case if the product is not bespoked

When 3rd party controllers cost more than OEM controllers? F no. The only 3rd party controllers I've purchased were the Ascii Pad for SNES, because turbo switches, and the NYXI Hyperion joy-cons for the Switch because OEM joy-cons are ass. I also have the Switch Pro Controller, but I don't wanna carry that with me on the go. Love my Xbox One controller for Steam, and the PS5 Dual Sense is just nice.

I'm fed up with every single controller being wireless AND have a usb C charger. I can't use that on PC. Just sell a normal wired usb A controller ffs.

I'd hardly call the "Premium" Custom Controllers companies 3rd party controllers. I've never had an issue with MS honoring a warranty. I know a good amount of my personal friends that never had a problem getting the warranty honored. My brother was initially denied an elite controller warranty repair but when it became a well known issue he contacted them again and they took care of it and extended his live for a year because he had already bought another controller. I've never had to pay shipping either. Sony on the other hand is hit and miss. I've had warranties refused because they don't cover the battery, or they denied it saying the issue was due to "abuse". Hell at one point I have had an warranty refused because the Playstation was not meant to be played for more than 8 hours in one sitting. I've only had to deal with them a few times over the last 20 some years, and in the case where the warranty was refused, with the exception of the battery one which was not covered up front, I had to pay to send in my hardware, found it to be denied, and had to pay to return it. In general both are pretty good, but so far the MS experience has been significantly better.

Not always, while first party controllers are better then most cheap third party controllers there are some third party controllers that are as good or better then first party ones, they usually aren't cheap tough. I like 8bitdo contollers.

Microsoft are a joke. They actually tried to charge me extra for a speedier repair service. They shouldn't be profiting from faulty in warranty products. It should be their number one priority to deal with all faults quickly.

All I want in a controller is, in order of importance: Gyro Back paddles/buttons Capacitive sensing on the sticks Hall effect sensors Basically I want a steam controller 2.0 asap. Everything else is irrelevant lol.

@@Raven.Bloodrot it allows for really accurate aiming on titles that require precision, like FPSs, etc... Sounds gimmicky but it really is a game changer. Would rather replace my controller more often than play without the feature. Look up "Flick Stick" setup on YT if you're interested! Tons of good videos on the topic.

Completely disagree, the buttons on the stock Xbox controllers couldn’t be better. They’re not clicky, but they are easy to press and easily mashed with one thumb. I had the Razer with clicky buttons, and they were a little stiffer to press.

@@pspcow Only if you press in the middle and hard then the buttons works. For me it is terrible especially when playing FIFA. So many time i miss the pass or the shooting because of this issue. " They’re not clicky" ? exactly! this is the problem. Buttons Should be easy +clicky .

​@@cod4787 Clicky in general is a sign of a uncomfortable cheap controller. This is one thing Sony does better with the PS5, their plush buttons. The Nintendo Pro controller also has great buttons. FYI the xbox elite 2 buttons are much button than the regular crap Series controller.

My warranty was always honoured by Microsoft I had my elite series 2 replaced at least three times. That being said their quality control is still pitiful. My battlebeavers last me for years.
