that's how basically every controller's vibration motors have been since forever. check a ps3 or any other controller for comparison. they're referred to as "fine" and "coarse" vibration motors. they can be spun at different combinations of speeds to get a lot of different feels, like the 20 years-ago version of haptic feedback
For thumb grips, I use the skull&co rubber Xbox one version and they fit perfectly, they don't rotate at all and feel great
One thing I didn't see you mention, when you connect the charging station to your PC it actually acts as a passthrough to the 2.4ghz receiver inside it. Thought that was kinda cool

Looking forward to having my own come in in the next few days. I already own a Gulikit, but I wanted to give these a try for their back paddles. Interestingly, after seeing your Gulikit review and the poor showing it had on the latency and polling test, I decided to test my own. I keep its firmware up to date, and with the latest firmware version 4.6 it's getting a pretty rock solid 100Hz with something like 3-4 ms jitter wired and anywhere from 5-9 ms jitter wireless. I did realize that spinning the stick prior to running the test helps avoid the really weird high outliers because that way you guarantee you're transmitting an input as you start the test, rather than it waiting like a second before you start moving the stick.

i need a controller for pc (maybe get a switch too later) but now for pc only as this 8bitdo controller and gulikit controller is the same price which one should i get with this one i get dock charging thing and with gulikit it get nice metalic materials used in it...

@@bronzehawk3646 If you only have a PC right now with no Switch then I'd probably recommend the 8BitDo. The metallic finish on the Gulikit is just a paint job on top of plastic and mine's already wearing off from use. The back paddles will be more useful if you're primarily using it for PC. The advantages of the Gulikit are Amiibo support, on the fly sensitivity adjustment, and on the fly macro recording and playback, with a sorta gimmicky sorry for motion aiming on PC as well (and maybe hall effect triggers? I don't think I've seen anybody mention if the 8BitDo's triggers are hall effect).

A question I have been asking myself the past two videos I watched from you: which do you prefer? The 8bitDo Ultimate or the Gulikit Kingkong Pro?

duuuude! Talk about dialing down the niche! Your reviews have been amazing to watch and helped validate my recent purchase I made of this. It just arrived today so wheeeeee! I'd say I wish I had a diff console, other than the switch, so I could justify watching more of your videos. I guess... the justification can be that it's just fun. :) Thanks for the great content!
To chime in on the vibration, it IS by design. The goal was to have a rumble and fine motor feelback, but I agree with you that it just doesn't really work out. it feels bad.
Honestly I’d say the 8bitdo pro 2 might be the best option for most people. It’s only $50, works for switch, pc, and all platforms that support bluetooth. No dock or hall sensing sticks, but I’ve never heard of an 8bitdo controller drifting and have never had an issue on mine. It also has gyro on PC (which is actually great for shooters), and can use Bluetooth for everything, whereas the ultimate is limited to 2.4 for PC (no idea why they made it limited like this when they had it down with the Pro 2. The Gulikit seems to have major gc issues from reviews I’ve seen, so for now the pro 2 seems to be the way to go.
one thing you didn't mention is that the 2.4g dongle plugs into the dock when it's tucked away in there, and the dock serves as a pass through. I have my dock plugged into my PC so I only need to flip the switch on the back of the controller to switch between PC and Switch. Also, you don't need to plug the controller into you PC to use the software, a wireless connection over the dongle works as well making fidgeting with settings easier.
Bought this controller last week on your recommendation and I love it! Dock is so good and it feels real nice. Ty for all the details on this.
Thanks for the video. Controller looks nice. And a nice review for it as usual
This actually works much better as a 2.4 GHz Windows controller, I use it exclusively as such.

It so comfortable on my hands and the turbo and adjustable dead zone on thumb sticks and triggers are amazing. I just need more grip to the palms. I didn't understand till your video how the 2.4ghz work. Couldn't figure out why my steam deck and switch wouldn't work. Thx

What about the latency on Switch? I assume wired is the way to go, followed by 2.4 and then Bluetooth, correct?
I bought the bluetooth+2,4GHz model for 54 euros on amazon. Arrived today. Very happy with it. Gaming on PC and some Samsung Tablet works good.
We need to see a review on the Machenike G6. I just ordered one for $55. Looks a bit sketchy but the features are a combination of the KK2Pro and the 8BDUlt. I am excited to give the thing a try and for the price I consider it a cheap experiment.

I truly enjoy your content! Thanks for your honest opinions.
I'm pretty sure I saw on the 8bitdo app that you can invert the both x and y axis? Does that inversion carry over to the switch?
After watching a ton of controller reviews (most of them yours because they're far superior to all the others I've seen), this will be the first controller I will be purchasing and using since the Nintendo 64. I've been strictly a PC gamer since the late 90s using nothing but a keyboard and mouse. I've been in the market for a controller ever since I tried to play Elden Ring on Steam without one. I am looking on buying 8Bitdo Ultimate or Gulikit King Kong 2 Pro? Is there any positive on having both controllers? Waiting for that in depth comparison... :) Thanks!
Great video you covered almost everything. I have a few questions about this controller: - In the Bluetooth version, you cannot switch between X-input and D-input. Is that a big problem? I hear a lot of people complaining about it, but I don't really know the reason. - Is it compatible with the Steam Deck too? - I read the Motion control + Vibrations doesnt work on the controller at the same time. Is it true?

ive been using the wired version of this one for a while now on xbox series X and i love it. The backbuttons are really comfy and the software is great to program the buttons and make profiles. The one thing i dont like about it is the traveltime for the LB and RB buttons, you need to press them down pretty far. they could be better. Keep in mind the controller is slightly smaller then a regular one, so if you have big hands i dont recommend this one.

sadly, they didnt put the hall sensors other than the BT version which is a big bummer.
Few questions, if you have the time: When using this on a PC, is there a noticeable difference between Bluetooth and the 2.4 dongle? If you have it connected to a PC and a Switch in the same room via Bluetooth, how hard is it to swap between the two, or are you going to accidentally be waking up your Switch every time you want to play something on the PC? When using the 2.4ghz dongle, can you pair multiple controllers to it, or is a 1 dongle to controller connection?
@baonguyenvangia6539
Жыл бұрын
1. Depends on your system's Bluetooth, it can be reliable or not, but if you play on PC connected through Bluetooth, Steam will see it as a Nintendo Switch controller, so I recommend plugging the dongle if you mainly play on PC, as it will see it as an Xbox controller. 2. There's a dedicated physical switch at the back of the controller to toggle between Bluetooth and 2.4Ghz connection, they act seperately, so if your PC has the dock and the Switch is already paired via Bluetooth, they won't ever mix up, the same is true if you do it in reversed, PC Bluetooth and Switch with dongle, plus this controller cannot wake the Switch in any way, shape or form anyways. 3. The dongle is used exclusively for this controller, you cannot pair any other controller to this dongle.
I got this as a gift for my best friend. It’s her favorite controller. She has a lot of hand pain , so she has to be very picky about which controllers she uses. This one by far is the most comfortable to use. She needs 2 back buttons on controllers so she isn’t in as much pain (4 is too much). She loves the ergonomics, the easy to press back buttons, and the more responsive Hall effect sticks. She also really appreciates how easy it is to connect between her PC and switch, as well as the really nice charging dock. She’s been through lots of controllers. Elite 2 was her favorite but the bumpers break on her every time. This one should hopefully last for a ridiculous amount of time.

Another thing that you didn’t mention is that the gyroscope does not work in the 2.4 ghz mode. Bluetooth only.
I found that the difference in vibration motors isn’t actually on a hardware level, but on a software level. Using my 8Bitdo adapter 2, I tried 4 different controllers (Switch pro controller, Dualsense, Xbox Series, 8Bitdo Ultimate) and all 4 exhibited the exact same vibration variation, with the left side feeling more rumbly and the right side feeling more precise. In game however, I noticed no variation in rumble strength between the motors, leading me to believe it’s the Ultimate software itself.
How well is the controller holding up this video made me purchase this and the Xbox style button parts and I want to know if the triggers are still going good.

FPV pilots have been using hall effect gimbals for years. Probably helped reduce the cost or helped introduce them to controller makers.

@@jonservo a mixed bag. Control stick is awesome, triggers are awesome, rear paddles are awesome. Face buttons are worse than pro controller imo as they are smaller and more like Xbox which I dislike, but they are easy enough to get used to. The rear bumpers are not good. You have to press them straight in. If you hit them from an angle they are much harder to press. On the switch pro these bumpers are hinged from near the center of the controller so they press easy from anywhere. But since these slide straight in without hinging, they are super hard to press sometimes. I have gotten used to it and the control stick being awesome makes up for it, but it’s still something that sours me. As someone who finds gyro to be a MUST on controllers and who got tired of drift on my nintendo pro controller I found the dismissal of the gulikit at the end to be quite surprising. I might be wrong but it looked like the deciding factor was the lack of back buttons which makes me question just how important they are. Either way your reviews are appreciated and insightful, thank you for being so thorough.

Is there any reason to get the Guilikit over the 8bitdo when both have hall effect sensors? Hall effect sensors were kind of the whole appeal of the Guilikit.

@@RyanThomas970 The Hall effect sticks in the 8bitdo Ultimate are sourced from Gulikit and same as the ones in the KingKong Pro 2. I have both and like that the Gulikit pad's compatible with more devices out of the box, has amiibo support, but doesn't have the back buttons. The Gulikit abxy buttons are easy to swap out if you prefer the xbox layout, but I overall prefer the 8bitdo membrane buttons and dpad.

@@RyanThomas970 At this point probably just the more durable buttons and preference in the form factor, the xbox pad style has always been nice

@@RyanThomas970 It depends on the game you're playing. I ordered the GK. Seems fine for MH Rise. It seems worse than a standard pro controller for Smash Ultimate

Gyro is only good on splatoon because there's no aim assist. On every other shooter, aim assist annihilates gyro
@gamerheaven I am wondering why you dismissed the GuliKit KingKing 2 Pro so easy towards the end of your video. You made a good video about it previously. Is there any way you can make a video comparing the KingKong 2 Pro vs the Ultimate? And why you choose the Ultimate over the KingKong 2 Pro.

I can list a few things the 8Bitdo is better: it has silent buttons, rear buttons, the 2.4GHz connectivity and the dock station.

@@vhsodre yes. But it does not have amiibo support like the KingKong 2 Pro does. And the trigger buttons on the 8BitDo have a longer pull, making it better for racing games, but worse for shooter games. With the KingKong2 Pro you can record macros for up to 10 minutes. Not sure it 8BitDo you can do that, and if so, for how long.
Would the circularity test for this controller be similar to the Gulikit?
