Explanation of your process is spot on...showing and telling! Those bespoke headers are a work of art! Well done! Go LGKustoms, keep moving forward!
I like the way you work round the problems and show the mistakes, all part of building one off stuff, thanks again Lee, great channel

Everyone makes mistakes! And it’s important for people to know that it’s okay to make mistakes. Too many people get hung up on their project because they’re too afraid of making a mistake.
Nice planning and workmanship on a great project!

LOL “Watch your fingers…” I just put a heck of a gash in my thumb today with a cutoff wheel on a grinder.

Oh man! One of this first times Shannon helped me in the shop I had the grinder kick back and peel my thumb nail off. Just remember, you can make 9 mistakes and still dial 911!

Nice work again! Those J-bends are an awesome stuff, i've made few Harley exhaust pipes by using them and some car headers too. Keep up the good work!

@@LGKustoms Just curious, how much they are in there? We have a company that makes and sells exhaust pipes etc in here Finland. They even do custom exhausts. A year ago they wanted around 10 bucks piece of a J-bend.

@@LGKustoms Holy crap, that is expensive! I checked out is the pricing same that it was at last year on that companys website. 44.5mm J-bend(that i have used usually) was 12 euros, which is pretty much same in dollars. And those bends have an excellent quality, not that low quality crap they are selling in low budget carpart stores.

@@1fknhpycmpr355 wow that is cheap! 12 Euros is $16.30 cad. Everything is expensive in Canada. We don’t make anything here so it’s all imported from the US. We have to pay extra shipping, import tax, and have currency exchange. On average the cost usually doubles. If a part is $50 usd it’s gonna be $100 cad by the time I actually have it in my hand. Hence why I make so many of my own parts! Haha
Really unique set of headers, good Job on those !! Thanks for sharing with us .

Thanks Lee. I’ve been patiently waiting for this. Now I have seen that pedal set up I’ll be ordering some. I do have some original 1932 pedals I brought back from the early ford store in 2019. But I’ll use those on a more (traditional) build. Thanks for your time and sharing all your knowledge. Tim.

You could mount the fuel pump on some rubber bushings so that it doesn't transfer the noise to the frame. Great episode! (as always!)

Great work as always. One tip for marking instead of using paint or sharpie markers when heat may be needed use white out ( the old typewriter stuff) you will find it does not burn off like the paint/sharpie markers do. Give it a try.

Earls AN fittings make a great compact shut off valve in #6AN. I would have install the shut of before the fuel filter. Makes it a clean filter change. Also doubles for winter storage gas shut off when you want to run the carb out of gas.
@LGKustoms
Жыл бұрын
That’s a good idea for the fuel filter change. I had a fuel shut off valve similar to that to kill the engine in my dragster.

Do you have to disconnect the oil drain to remove the header or is the mounting flange split?
@LGKustoms
Жыл бұрын
You have to take the oil drain off. It has AN fittings so it’s super easy to remove
Was always under the impression that tube length on headers needed to be equal. Not so? Is there an advantage if they are?

It’s supposed to help make more power, but definitely not necessary. Especially for a street car
What do you expect the horsepower/torque difference to be with that swap?
@LGKustoms
Жыл бұрын
This engine dynoed at 335hp. Not sure what the torque was. I suspect the 389 Pontiac was probably more, but this has more cool factor!
