I would have said that that would never happen. RIOT's biggest market is China, a country that is not especially kind to LGBT. But this year's pride month symbol features Graves and Twisted Fate, so who knows.

Ahh. Darkins. My favorite part about League's lore. And the saddest, in my eyes. From mortals to God-warriors, fighting-off the Void in ancient war. And from God-warriors, to scarred by that same war - darkins. They've lost their home, their purpose, everything. Even with immortal bodies, they still had minds of mortals, and mortal minds are so easy to corrupt with power. Their era of tyranny has ended pretty sad. Almost all of them wiped out. Those who were not killed - got sealed in their own weapon for millenia. And they were conscious all this time. Being trapped in darkness, without ability to move, with only your own thoughts as a company. Its fate worse than death. Tbh, I feel bad for Varus and dont blame him for this obsession with revenge. Same goes for other darkins, too...

Varus is definitely a very sad and tragic character and I can also see why they act the way they do for revenge but also I can see from valmar and kai's pov that they dont want to be a part of his revenge. Definitely makes varus a very interesting and tragic figure! Thanks for watching :)

now you have to check out Jinx's comic The Darkin were shurima ascended (like Azir) that were touched by the void in an ancient war. The void started to speak to them and corrupted them. Soon they discovered blood magic and started the great Darkin war. With help of the celestials the humans managed to seal the darkins in their own weapons. The bow that contained Varus was sealed in that fountain. Aatrox is one of the darkins that recently escaped from their prison. there's also Rhaast, that currently is fighting against Kayn for his body. You can see Kayn in the Zed comic

Btw. They learned forbidden sorceries along with it are primal magics that they've mastered so, basically they learned everything of Runeterra.

So to explain Varus, Varus is a Darkin, which are failed and corrupt Ascended (if you think of the crocodile man and the anubis looking dude from Shurima, those are Acended). Varus can se seen as akin to a demon. When the couple got in the waters, Varus took the chance to get a new body and the whole "As We Fall" Cinematic was about him breaking their bodies and minds to get his own body. He fused their bodies to contain his own spirit, so its actually Valmar. Kai, AND Varus. Varus feeds off of Vengeance and the hate one feels for his lost love is great indeed. I love this story, it's well done and quite a romantic tragedy with just enough hope and despair after to imagine how it can be moving forward. Love Varus a lot.

03:38 there is also Neeko (that chameleon girl that you saw in star Guardian video) who was actually the first confirmed lesbian character (Vi, Caitlyn, Diana and Leona were realesed earlier but their sexuality was confirmed not that long ago) in league, there is also Rell that is bisexual, this is not confirmed but Miss Fortune flirts a lot with both genders so she can be also bisexual, and in this month it was confirmed that Garves and Twisted Fate (these two merceneries, one is using magic card and the other is using double canon) are a couple

this is one of those moments when you realize that the lore of this game goes DEEP. In one way or another, its connected to a lore for someone in this case, its both connected to the Ionian lore, The darkin lore and the Noxian invasion lore (maybe more i didnt recognize)

I never finished the comic. Wonderful. Also, Varus is kind of a damn blast to play as!

Other rep: Neeko (haven't met her yet) is a lesbian (source: voice lines status: confirmed) Rell (I don't think you've met her yet either) is heavily implied to be a bi disaster (source: voice lines status: implied) TF and Graves (the cowboy pirates from Tales of Runeterra) were originally pitched as a married couple (this was shot down at the time) and have been a popular fan pairing ever since, and then this year they were confirmed by being placed at the center of this year's pride emotes and art (as in one of this year's pride emotes literally has the two of them in a pose taken directly from Brokeback Mountain lol and if you equip a pride 2022 emote you get a special pride background that... please just look up League of Legends Pride 2022 profile background, you need to see it, it might be the most beautiful thing I've ever seen) (source: literally everything they've ever been in together status: confirmed) I forgot about these two but someone else mentioned them in a comment so I will as well: Nami (mermaid lady): In a bisexual polyamorous relationship (source: Legends of Runeterra interactions status: confirmed) Miss/Captain Fortune (badass pirate lady from Double Double Cross): Implied to be bi or pan, flirts with everyone, including Vi (source: Legends of Runeterra status: implied). Also, if you and your opponent both play MF in LoR... she flirts with herself lol.

Yeah and I saw a journalist say that Arcane probably won't take further Vi and Cait's relationship because Riot is afraid to make gay couples official 😂😂😂. Where did that guy take this information?

@@kaijingarou6526 They have been extremely hesitant to further gay relationships. Vi/Caitlyn, Diana/Leona, and Graves/TF were pairings that were not only popular with fans but, at least for the latter two, were part of their original concept and were repeatedly shut down by the higher-ups for *years* before they were able to do anything. And they still have to be extremely careful about implementing lgbt characters especially since Riot's parent company, Tencent, is Chinese, and China is also League's largest market. Just because they have a few gay characters now doesn't necessarily mean this representation is on solid ground.

First of all, I love your content and reactions of all kinds, I'm a big fan. and second, varus is a "darkin" the darkin were very powerful creatures in the ancient times of runeterra and the celestial aspects like: zoe, taric, diana, leona, etc. They gave humans the ability to "enclose" these powerful entities in weapons, there are other darkin like Aatrox (sword), Rhaast (scythe) who are also darkins and these are released and occupy the body of the person who released them to be themselves again, so what we see in the video of varus, is the representation of how the demon does a deal with two people at the same time and destroys and merges their bodies to create 1, in short, varus is a darkin and is the Combination of a "demon" and two more men, the lore of the darkin is too interesting if this story calls your attention a little. sorry for my english is not my mother tongue ajajajajaj

Hiya! New Sub here! Just watched a bunch if your league videos. It is now 1:30 am lol. I'd really like to see your reaction to the Ruination story line. There are a BUNCH of videos revolving around it, all around 3 minutes each. Yasuo and Ahri get swept into it when they go to Bilgewater, as well as Miss Fortune and Braum. The Ruination events are also part of why Thresh was able to escape the Shadow Isles. ALSO there is a game for it that would be cool to see you stream or something.

I knew both of them got inside eachother at times, but this is just another thing. I heard about the "Bury your gays trope" but this is just "Merge your gays"

As far as LGBT pairing goes there are 2 more. Official is Neeko and Nidalee and unofficial is Graves and Twisted Fate,there is no confirmation in their story but riot agrees with community so they even got together on new set of pride emotes ;)

i´m also always happy when we have some LGBTQ+ reps since 10% of Humanity is not straight it just makes sense to have close to 10% LGBTQ+ rep in media, we are far away from that number, but every new rep is a big win. I don´t even want more then 10% lgbtq+ reps, but 10% is the sweet spot here. We have some more then those you came across so far, I don´t want to spoil you but you actually saw a cinematic of 1 pair tho they need time to aknowledge their love for each other ^^

I love when they do representation in an organic, natural way. While Neeko kind of over does it and goes out of her way to let out know she likes girls, I think they do it very well with most others. Rell hints at it indirectly, Miss Fortune flirts with literally everyone and thus is implied (which also plays into her natural charismatic, charming captain leader personality smoothly), but my FAVORITE couple by far is Twisted Fate and Graves. The reason being that you could tell from years ago that their bickering is slightly more than just friends ribbing eachother. But just enough to get the connection, and without them screaming about it. They feel super natural, organic, and honestly just human in how they treat eachother. Those two were only recently confirmed thanks to Pride Month emotes, but they were even pitched as an old bickering couple and they kept that feel. Hope they keep doing high quality, subtle but realistic inserts like that.

Varus is the darkin, not the combination of the three. The darkin are my favourite lore, unfortunately Shaco doesn't have lore otherwise his would probably be my favourite.....

They're getting better at representation (namely, the corporate side of things is less likely to sensor things and more likely to market them at Pride month). So Twisted Fate and Graves were always supposed to be a bickering married couple, though they only made it official this year, after a decade. Rell's voice lines are a delight, though.

With this, the characters you mentioned (Plus Neeko and maybe Irelia), and now Graves and Twisted Fate I'm happy to see League of Legends have more LGBTQ+ 🏳️‍🌈 💙 representation.

Very much an unpopular opinion but this iteration of Varus' story is at best a side-grade. A downgrade in my opinion. His original lore, while not as specifically detailed, was much more compelling.

If you are checking comics you know you are going the right path to enjoy league lore
