The Fashion Rocks producers wanted David on the show but he initially turned them down. It was a year and 3 months after his heart attack and bypass surgery. He relented though, with the condition that Arcade Fire be a part of the show. That's how that came about. The atmosphere in Radio City Music Hall during this song was one of jubilation! Everyone was on their feet and the applause after the performance was thunderous! This was one moment when the crowd didn't need prompting to applaud and cheer! 😀
