    Would you recommend the Beta LT or AR for onebag travel as a raincoat? Wish you had some shots of them packed up.

    What type or touring? Ski touring ? If so I recommend the Lofoten. Otherwise just get the Beta LT

    Good vid, very informative! Im in view of the beta lightweight for mainly skiing 0-30f, and some casual wear. 175 slim build so was thinking size S. However since I would have to fit layers in winter I'm now also considering the beta ar stormhood for more room, where the cons would be less casual wear and probably a worse fit for thinn layerd spring skiing. What would be your opinion? many thanks.

    I disagree to go with beta AR . Its way heavier , less packable and a 100usd pricier. Extremly satisfied with the Beta Lightweight so far used in Norway and Iceland this Spring . My Beta AR feels not so breathable therefore fast clammy , and i cant pack it so well . Beta Lightweight is superb

    Im 5.9 at 180lbs , size Large Usually wearing Medium or in between M and L and In Arcteryx its L for me now since they changed their sizing on many products to "slim fit" . I cant layer at all in Arc size M now . Only a Tshirt underneath but i use it for hiking so it needs to fit a Midlayer

    I’m 5’7 medium build woman, I like oversized jackets and ability to layer but I don’t want to be swimming in it … do you think large will be too big?

    I’m not super knowledgeable on women’s sizes. If you normally where a medium, then large might be fine in this case

    I just tried this jacket on in the store and quite liked it for the features. I didn't love the fit of my body (tall, slender but curvy female medium build), and tend to wear really oversized garments, of what would be considered the "correct" size for me and actually found the best size was the men's XL. At this size, it looked very fashionable. The sleeves however were VERY long, as you mention, but you can use the velcro at the wrists and have a sort of ruched effect where the fabric gathers. It's not the look for everyone, but it worked for me. However, I have two questions: is there a comparable lightweight jacket with similar features at a lower pricepoint that you would recommend? AND: can you recommend a good resource for learning about how and when to re-proof a water resistant jacket after wear? Thanks so much!

    Also, my main use of the jacket would be for dog walking, walking around the city (thus the lightweight and armpit zips are great for dealing with transitions from outdoors to indoors) and hiking.

    In terms of a cheaper jacket, one from Outdoor research or Marmot would be less expense but have similar features

    In terms reapplying dwr, it’s really baes on when you notice the jacket isn’t beading water. I’ll usually notice it on the shoulders or arms and just spot treat if they aren’t beading in this areas

  • @WillFaulkner

    @WillFaulkner

    The beta lt is heavier, more durable Goretex, and still uses the old version of dwr

    @@WillFaulkner is there a difference in functionality and fitting between the beta lightweight and beta LT? Or is the only difference the weight, goretex and zipper? If so which one would u recommend for someone who want to use it for hiking and skiing (off piste)?

  • @WillFaulkner

    @@optifyqt If the Beta LT is available, I would get that over the lightweight. Should sill have the older version of goretex that is better than the PFC free

    Nice comparison to the entry level beta. Do you think for urban wear / light trail hikes the beta LT would be a better option or something like Zeta LT ?

    Thanks . I was checking out the arcteryx outlet near me and they have it for a good discount -35% off. I think I will take your advice and pay more to get the beta lt instead since its more versatile.
