G’day Anthony, my arb twin stopped working on one side after 4 years, connecting Rod bolt broke off allowing Conroe to come off crankshaft. Arb were no help with replacement parts to repair it. Ended up sourcing a replacement bolt from local fastener supplier. 8 months later same on other compressor of the two, so both fixed now, no problem since. Cheers Jeff.

Bought a dual ARB in 2018 since then I am on my 3rd motor assemble. 2 motor failures both original motors and one of the replacements just failed and 2 broken rod bolts that I fixed with left over parts from the motor assembly parts. My old Viair is 18 yrs old and abused still works fine.

G’day mate. My 16 yo ARB compressor died last year. Called ARB, who sent me to the nearest ARB stockist, where I was able to buy an upgrade kit, that replaces key high wear n tear parts but also includes an upgrade piston rod ‘pin’ Worked a treat and I expect to get another 16 years out of it. Cheers

I have had my arb compressor exact same as yours in the video for 14 years still going strong. It has been transferred across two 4WDs.

I’ve got one of the original Aussie made single pot arb compressors. I bought it in 1998. Had to change the wiring harness and pressure shut off solenoid about 10 years ago. Unreal. Ironically, a mate found one in the back of an 80 series at the dump 6 months ago. He saw the wagon and recognised it as being another mates vehicle, which had been sold 10 years later. Sure enough an old arb compressor (same vintage as mine)was in the back , in the jack compartment. He took it home, gave it a bit of love, and of it went. The old Aussie made ones are great. Pretty sure I paid about $380 26 years ago! A lot of money then but $11 a year is pretty good value!

I'm still using my ARB compressor, which I originally installed under the bonet of my previous 4x4 in 2002. Then when I bought my new 120 series Prado in 2009 I moved the ARB compressor to it. Still working well today 20 years old over both 4x4 vehicles.

Nah, got sick of onboard air compressors years ago. Being a fridgie I have been using an aluminium 5kg co2 cylinder for over 10 years. Much quicker and more reliable. Love your work.

I have got the same compressor in my Jimny and it runs 2 diff locks as well as inflate tyres. I have had it in there since 2010 it’s been used nearly every three weeks and it’s still going strong.

I carry two portable VIAIR compressor with me. So far so good. They do heat up quickly after pumping up two all terrain tires, hence the reason for two. I also found out that pouring water on the body and the finned area helps it cool down quicker.

Was going to purchase one of these and mount on the Kaon bracket. Around $440.00 plus hose kit of $115.00. Ten years is not too bad. Some of this stuff doesn't go the warranty period!!.

Here's a tip to prevent you having to run around for fuses: replace them with circuit breakers. You can get ones that plug straight in to the fuse socket from the likes of Jaycar Electronics.

I’ve got the same compressor but in the little toolbox version. Had it probably 6 years. Had some nuisance fuse blowing in the Kimberleys in really high ambient temps 42/43C. Only when getting close to pressure and start/stop/start/stop checking final pressures. Other than that it has never let me down. Before that I bought a Mean Mother. It aired up 3 tyres before it shit the bed in the middle or ArnhemLand. May be been a one-off but never again

Mine has done 10 years under the bonnet and been used in the same way as yours, pumping up tyres and a locker.

I would look at the capacitors on the end plate they are there to reduce Electrical interference can be bypassed with some wire to test, I have been using a blue tongue continuous duty air compressor since 1997 it can only deliver 50 psi but has outlasted four cars

I have the twin ARB unit and it blew both fuses at the same time. Not exactly like this though it just stopped. I assume electrical fault. Checked it all and everything was fine. Replaced the fuses and all is good no sign of issues??? Spoke to ARB and they basically said they don't use the blade fuses, cut them off and bin them. They replace the blades with a midi fuse setup. This doesn't doing like your problem BUT maybe over a period it has caused long term damage by not getting enough current through the blade fuse??

Those ARB compressors get crazy hot and that is what kills them.

They are reliable, just not putting them in the engine bay. It’s too hot. I’m sure it would last a lot longer away from that heat.

typical of Arb stuff. Sounds like the motor is gone.

Ill never mount a tyre compressor under the bonnet again, they get hot and shut down. My ARB shuts down all the time after a hard work out in low and heat in the engine bay. Mount it in the cab and no more problems.

C'mon you'd know there is no comparison with an Ingersol Rand stationary compressor $???? Does the ARB have an oil sump, proper rings & bearings? ever measured temperature in an engine bay? 10 years done well
