The AquaLung Outlaw BCD is a stripped down wing BC for the minimalist diver who doesn't want bulky pockets or bladders with heavy backplates. The Outlaw has a minimal streamlined bladder attached directly to the padded harness that weighs very little and has adjustment points to fit different sized divers.

Hey Guys I recently have got into scuba diving and was wondering what the difference between a £500 BCD and a £100 one. I would jut like to know whether it is worth the buy or if there is not much difference? Thanks

Dmitry Barker-Privalov I'm an American and not from simply scuba, however I work professionally in the diving industry selling these items to people everyday. Here's what I can tell you: This is your life support equipment, so generally speaking if you can go with a better BCD, DO IT. For instance, the Oceanic Ex100 is a great BC, jacket style inflate is great for beginning divers and it doesn't have many extra features that can get confusing. Its a keep it simple stupid kind of BC, (about $300 retail), then you compare that to something like the Scubapro Hydros Pro. The Hydros BC in back inflate, which most divers as they advance tend to move towards because it allows better trim in the water, has several more stainless steel D-Rings which are great if you're a tech diver or plan on being one, but by far its greatest feature is that the vest part itself is made of a material that makes it impossible for the BC to move on you. This means that you could be upsidedown and that BC isn't moving and neither is your tank, its glued right where its supposed to be. This BC retails at around $889.00. So really it comes down to four categories to consider: 1) Inflation style: Jacket, Hybrid, or Back Inflate 2) Standard Auto inflate vs. i3 inflation 3) Travel abilities: ones like the Outlaw that can come apart, or ones like the TUSA Conquest that are heavy and bulky 4) Extra features: D-Rings, Cummerbund, Wrapture Harness System (only in AquaLung BC's), Octo pockets, extra pocket room, material. Hope that helps!

Im a professional diver as well. Kbunny is right. Keep in mind this: Less is more. Find the simplest BCD as posible. Nothing weird. Avoid the integrated weights. Avoid any extra. Avoid any weird release or inflate system. Dont try to find the cheapest ones, but a simple and cheap BCD is gonna be with you probably longer than a futuristic one with tousands of extras.
