friendly recommendation: if you're going to use burton grip, I would wrap the mallet shafts in grip tape, or be sure your back three fingers are always applying the right amount of pressure, in order to get rid of those pesky "stick clicks". otherwise, nice recording!

Forearm is used to move around the board but you should use your wrist rotation to actually hit the mallet. If you ever study Stevens grip this is even more important

I too love the sound of traditional grip. Especially when the sticks click in the middle of nowhere and the tone is ruined.

The only thing that bothers me, and i dont know how professional she is so im not going to judge harshly, but as ive started to prefer stevens more than burtons, the rattan click of burtons bothers me. So i prefer to stick with stevens.

I say this as im looking for solos to perform and my Director hates the rattan click so if we use burtons we have to practice in order to not get the click. I mean nothing harsh by this comment ^.^

Just wrap the mallet handles with flesh tape. Such as Nexcare waterproof first aid tape. It’s $3.40 at Target.
