101% agreed! I’ve seen my fair share of marimba duets, but none are as cool as this! Somehow I’ve never seen a duet performed with one person in front of the marimba like this. Hope to see more!!

I've been using this recording to play along to almost constantly this summer. Every other day I'm running the piece and it's a difficult one for me and my experience, but you guys make it sound worth it to keep it going. The reverb is satisfying and the phrasing and tempo is all in a great place and I haven't gotten tired of the recording yet after maybe 100 plays or more rewinding and replaying in spots to get everything right when I don't read music as confidently as I listen. Thanks for keeping me in the game to finish this piece for my senior recital next year! I hope the both of you continue playing wonderful things in the future!

Jonah Schertz The specific model numbers are in the description, but they were Van Sice mallets. Don't feel like you have to use these to get the best sound, but they are certainly an option if you are unsure about what to use!

Jonah Schertz if it helps, the Innovative Percussion Soloist Series are nearly identical in design to the Van Sice's (except the color) and because they're not a signature they cost less

Jon Largent Jon Largent Yup! I'm an audio engineer so I couldn't help but tweak it for fun haha. I think the reverb I used was from Altiverb. You should check out the See Ya Thursday video I recorded for a player named Kevin Thompson. That was probably the best tone I've recorded from a marimba.

Nah! Stevens feels pretty good once you get used to it. I wouldn’t say our technique was amazing though haha. We both marched quads in drum corps so our hands were pretty brutalized ahead of time 😂. This tune was more of a lesson in mapping out dynamic shaping ahead of time, and making intuitive joint decisions in the moment.
