Secondary base ISO, never heard of that before, will go try that right now in my home studio with some sample images.

Great informational video! Jump to the second base ISO of a camera after the sun set then adjust your settings as the light changes accordingly. Thanks!

My brother and I went to Moab last week for the very first time! What an amazing place. Delicate Arch is the most beautiful natural landmark I have ever seen. I got some really good shots of it with my D810 and Z50. As well as Mesa Arch but it was kind of a zoo with all the people crowded around that one small area.

Yeah we don't take people to Mesa for dawn anymore on workshops. It's just too crazy these days sadly.

Great video as always! I love Moab! In fact I stopped there (I stayed in Green River) for a couple days on my way home from the Owens Valley workshop. If you get a chance on a future Moab workshop, sunrise at Dead Horse State Park is spectacular (and not crowded at all). The last time I was there, I was the only one,

Given the alure sunsets have for me changing light is the name of the game. Just when you think it isn't going to get better (or worse isn't going to be worthwhile) clouds move, the sun constantly moves and there you are capturing at a completely different image. Hey Hudson, I remembered that second base ISO the other day, it makes such a difference. Do you now prefer that to bracketing when you can or do you shoot both in the blue hour so you can still get the detail in the moon?

Biggest tip about going to the Moab National Parks is go early before the Park entry opens, it beats cost of entry but only some of the crowds. Also check out the state parks and BLM land smaller crowds but not the iconic scenes

That's a given for photograghers and true for all the Parks. Predawn drives are long before gate manning and sunset trips are a reverse commute in. ;)

After watching this I went to search out and watch the Milkyway video. There you mention the secondary ISO kicks in at ISO 400. So could you clarify further. 400 vs 500?

The Z7 and Z7ii are 400. The z8 & 9 sensor is 500. The Z6, Z6ii and ZF sensor is 800. Each distinct sensor must be researched and I show exactly how to easily determine that in my milky way course for any existing or new camera released from all the different brands: Www.hudsonhenry.com/milkyway

There's nothing (that I can find) in the Z6 user manual about a secondary base ISO. I looked online and all I found was a discussion wherein a couple of people said the secondary base ISO for the Z6 was 800, not 600 as Hudson mentioned. I hope you can clear this up for me. Thanks.

It's 800. If you listen again you'll find that's what I say too. No camera I know of is 600. It's not in any manual, but my milky way course has a whole section about what it is, why it exists and how to ascertain it for any camera made. Www.hudsonhenry.com/milkyway
