As much as I appreciate the stoic mindset. A man lost me because he couldn't see past himself. He constantly made me feel like I had to earn his time and it was the most heartbreaking thing. I told him he was stoic like and I was so in love. But he was hurting me constantly by trying to "command" respect and his importance. He always made me feel like I could lose him at any moment. He couldn't rest in me or himself. It was like my love was a loaded gun...and in my stoic way I had to walk away from him...as a declaration of my worth..

Message to all the compassionate and empathetic people of the world, who feels joy by bringing joy to others : RESIST THE URGE TO GIVE. It is better for you and better for the world, if you ration your love and sharing only towards those who appreciate you and show effort. YOU WILL LOSE SOME PEOPLE. BE PREPARED FOR THE PAIN OF THIS LOSS. It is better for you and better for them.

It's weird to see this shared in this light, as if it's something significant. The problem with empathy is people don't do it right. They assume empathy us putting yourself in someone else's shoes and that's it. It's not. Before you put yourself in someones shoes, make sure you take off your own. Compassion is a logical action not an emotional reaction. You don't give if you're without and you don't take if their in need. Simple. Get used to people calling you cold lol.

It was just validation for me for how i had always felt anyway. If i dont change something i know my life is leading me to a sad end. All i think i need is to be cared for and loved by a support group but all i ever feel is felt sorry for. @oneandonlymj47, It sounds like you've been carrying a heavy burden, and it's important to recognize the strength it takes to share these feelings. Remember, your worth isn't defined by others' recognition or lack thereof. The qualities you possess - beauty, intelligence, humor, kindness - these are intrinsic values that shine regardless of external validation. It's never too late to reconnect with the world and find your tribe. People who will see and appreciate you for who you truly are. Sometimes, the first step can be the hardest, but it's a step worth taking. You have so much to offer, and there's a place where your qualities will be celebrated. You're not alone in your journey. 💙

@juanderuano8969 Focus on your breath (vipassana) which can quell your mind chatter. This is just an experience without knowledge of self. If there is knowledge of the self and its relation with the material realm, it is very easy to calm mind chatter without doing any meditation technique. Here is a small hint. The conscious, impassive and omnipresent experiencer (the true self) is just one and NOT the doer of any action. Experience or intelligent energy (thoughts/body/world/universe) is multiple and doer of everything but does NOT experience anything. ERWIN SCHRODINGER (ONE OF THE FOUNDING FATHERS OF QUANTUM MECHANICS) Schrodinger's biographer Moore wrote -- “His system - or that of the Hindu Upanishads/Vedas - is delightful and consistent: the self and the world are one and they are all. He rejected traditional western religious beliefs (Jewish, Christian, and Islamic) not on the basis of any reasoned argument, nor even with an expression of emotional antipathy, for he loved to use religious expressions and metaphors, but simply by saying that they are naïve--and will NOT understand Quantum physics and consciousness. (CONSCIOUS, IMMANENT AND OMNIPRESENT SELF = SHIVA and THOUGHTS/BODY/W0RLD/UNIVERSE = SHAKTHI OR THE INTELLIGENT ENERGY) Erwin Schrodinger wrote: “Vedanta teaches that consciousness is singular, all happenings are played out in one universal consciousness and there is no multiplicity of selves.”

You and I both. As a former teacher, we were trained to give much of ourselves beyond what’s typical. At 60, I must break that chain cause taken for granted sucks. Gotta set personal limits or crumble in silence.

Im at a point in my life where i don't care what anyone thinks ,and that's a dangerous mindset for someone 20 years young but listening to other people has led me to be a complete and utter failure if im being honest but you know what, its not about where you start but where you finish and im somehow exactly where i started moral of the story is people will take advantage of you if they can so keep your circle small and take the opinions of others with a grain of salt cause at the end day they don't have to look at you in the mirror

I overshared way too much with my husband. So much so he knew how to play me. He knew my plans of my life. While he was always, after the wedding , guarded in what information he gave me right from the beginning decades ago. I used to think if I was an open book he would be too. He had been open and honest when we dated. When we got married he changed immediately to being closed off and he actually lied about so many things small and big things. I asked him a few years ago why he changed. He said because he wasn’t courting me anymore. And I said well we’re courting again this time for a divorce. Lol I hope his future wives have more self confidence than I had.

I am learning so much from Stoic Wisdom. I have retired from several jobs but still working. I work at Wal-Mart. I know...but when i first started customers and coworkers wiuld love to run all over me. But i have set my place and tone. I no longer get disrespected by customers yelling at me, throwing their bags in my face literally or throwing their unwanted items in my small space. Even coworkers delivering formula dont put it in my space but a space close by. Coworkers leave register 18 (nobody likes because it is too busy) clean, no garbage and no items left by customers. Essentially what they should be doing. I just have ine coworker who leaves the place a mess and customers standing in line before i ready the station. But we are always watched by bosses, coworkers, customers, and cameras literally. Sooner or later there will be enough bosses that will say she needs to have a conversation. But i can only control myself. My station will be set up correctly, customers taking care of. Unless of course the demand i put can goods on too of bread or potato chips. Ugh. I like to do it correctly but customer service...

@Cynthia-iz5qp Your journey towards asserting yourself and setting boundaries at work is incredibly inspiring. It's a testament to the Stoic principle of focusing on what's within our control and letting go of what's not. Keep up the great work, and remember, the only person's actions you can control are your own, and it sounds like you're doing that splendidly. May your station always be an example of order amidst the chaos!

Having been the stomach mine at extremely early age I think the key to this is knowing when to apply when to pull back for example and went to engage in deep communication because what can happen is your self-worth can quickly take priority over the self-worth of others and therefore you are always in a manipulative controlling mindset to make the situation of each relationship go in your favor. It is not about things going in your favor it's about deep self-love for yourself and respect. I have a tendency in my last few decades to always be sharing you could say too much of myself and I will work on that now. Still human relationships are usually quite surface and I like to get deep with people into what's going on on the inside and share mine as well so in some ways the stoic mind is quite shallow a sort of game that you may win but in so doing you lose.....

00:00 🪄 Introduction to the importance of mastering an ancient art The video introduces the idea of mastering an ancient art that can elevate your standing and make you a priority in any situation. True value comes from within and is not diminished by external oversight. The strategies to be discussed are practical, actionable, and have stood the test of time. 01:49 🚀 Strategy 1: Command your space Prioritize environments where your value is acknowledged to naturally elevate your status. Choose to invest your time and energy where it counts, fostering self-respect. Be the main character in your own life's story. 02:31 😊 Strategy 2: Forge your own joy Anchor your happiness to self-sufficiency, not external sources. Find pleasure in daily routines, personal achievements, and quiet moments of contemplation. Ground yourself in your own happiness, becoming the rock in your life. 03:25 💫 Strategy 3: Master the art of presence by absence Scarcity enhances value; don't always be readily available. Engage in pursuits that naturally limit your availability and sharpen your mind. Make your presence a privilege, not a given. 04:32 🏆 Strategy 4: Command their interest Avoid making someone the center of your world; cultivate a rich and interesting life. Become the greener grass by staying invested in your own path. Create a sense of challenge and mystery to make yourself a priority. 05:55 🚪 Strategy 5: Hold the power to step back Knowing when to step back is an act of self-prioritization. It's a strategic retreat, not a surrender, and a declaration of worth. Walking away can make others take a step closer and value your presence. 07:38 🙌 Strategy 6: Cultivate the fear of losing you Show the world what it means to miss you by diversifying your attention. Let your presence be something others earn, prompting reflection on your value. Demonstrate your intrinsic worth without manipulation. 09:13 🤐 Strategy 7: The allure of the unsaid Maintain an air of mystery by not revealing everything about yourself. Share just enough to pique interest and invite others to seek more. Become a puzzle they can't help but want to solve. 10:34 💼 Strategy 8: The currency of investment Encourage others to invest in you to increase your importance. Balance being approachable with being valued, showing appreciation for their effort. Make every interaction count by acknowledging their investment. 12:11 🤫 Strategy 9: The art of silence The absence of your voice can be louder than its presence; sometimes, silence is powerful. By pausing your impulses to initiate contact, you create space for the other party to move towards you. Use silence strategically to rebalance the dynamics of your interaction and deepen appreciation for the dialogue.
