Apply an ACF50 treatment to a motorcycle like a pro

** guys please, stop with the pressure comments. Agreed the high pressure setting on the Karcher is bad, very very bad for our bikes. BUT, I’m syphoning the water from buckets here not from an open tap. This means the pressure drops massively, at best the pressure in this video is, again at best, a level 2 on the 5 setting dirt blaster. So cmon, let’s be positive :) Thanks for watching, ride and wash safe :) **
Currently across the UK there are some dedicated and talented folks applying anti corrosion coatings to Motorcycles for anything between £80 - £120. How do they do it? Watch and find out, with the right, or even similar kit, you can do it too. Today I am applying an ACF50 anti-corrosion treatment to my Triumph Street Triple RS
(I am not in anyway claiming the services anti-corrosion providers offer are overpriced nor do I believe my results here are better than what they achieve on a daily basis)
What I used :
Karcher K4
Bruhl Motorcycle Dryer 1900 **MUST BUY**
Makita 8l Compressor
Devilbiss SRI Pro 1.0 tip
3m PPS large cup
Halfords 5 gallon buckets
Halfords microfiber towel
Muc-Off chain brush
Halfords soft brush
Products:
ACF50 **MUST BUY MUST USE**
Traffic Film Remover
Muc-Off Motorcycle cleaner
Autogleam wheel protector (not in video)
Wurth Dry Chain Lube **MUST BUY** (not in video)
Water....
Filmed with a GoPro Hero Session 5 with extended battery pack.
Motorcycle is...mine pahaha!! 2018 Triumph Street Triple 765
Purchased from Shirlaws Aberdeen Triumph.

As others have said, quite a soothing watch :-) Some pointers (hope you wont mind). First of all, snowfoam goes first. It's job is to gently lift off the top dirt so to avoid rubbing in on the wash. Second, in most cases, strong-ish detergents like muc-off often aren't required, and so should be used sparingly. Muc-off is a mid-scale alkaline: not brutal, but corrosive nonethess (especially to alloys), so shouldn't be left to dwell on the bike. Third, I found the use of the brush in itself a bit horrifying, but even more so without repeated dunking in fresh water! Mitt and 2-bucket method is the way to go. Then pat dry with a towel and finish off with the blower. Anyway, lecture over,. Lovely bike - ride safe and best wishes.

samsara got to disagree slightly but that’s not meaning your points are wrong or not, the snowfoam does not remove dirt alone it will only encourage to lift it, in my opinion the only difference to putting it on to a dry surface is that it stays thicker for longer. Functionality wise it makes no difference, the dirt and grime will remove as effectively by rinse first then foam, I guess it’s just preference and probably only really matters if your wanting to get enough time to take a photo for your instagram ;) i would always prefer to remove the worst of the dirt then showdown, but again it’s just a routine preference. I see your point on the brush, I should actually have it in the description that it’s a squirrel hair brush and not a hard cleaning one. That’s my bad so appreciate the feedback there. There’s a comment on by another you tuber who’s made a brilliant suggestion for an alternative cleaning agent, that’s what I’m going to try after the winter, hopefully that’s one that you’ll agree with too. Thanks for the comment and opinion dude, have a great day :) :)

Great video! I got the muc-off pressure washer which is good, but when I dry the bike I always seem to have missed bits! :( Getting All Year Biker to do ACF50 later this month before Scottish winter sets in. Seems advice after ACF50 is just to give a gentle hose down over winter as a thorough clean will wash ACF50 off. It Means the bike looks bogging for a few months until deep clean in spring but keeps rust at bay. Cheers.

Lovely bike..and great overall video...👍🏻 My 2cents worth of a comment (and something that I do differently),is..use “multiple” brushes/washing-drying cloths vs. the one to “fit” all approach. (Swirls and scratches tend to form on the plastics from the dust/debris that is sitting on the metals from ‘down under’),and regularly rinse out the brushes,as you “agitate” the dirt off the parts. Give “Sdoc100” and the product range a go next time, and see the difference vs. “muc-off” 👍🏻 Ride safe 🏍

The attachment doesn’t give the same pressure when it’s syphon feed from the buckets of water. When fed from a tap directly they are able to clean slabs as you say but it’s far weaker from the bucket fed which is why it’s used here. A bucket fed lance nozzle gives out a similar pressure to that of setting 2 of the vario Karcher nozzle. 👍🏻

Graham Stewart hiya fella. That’s a good question, whilst my Street rs is the semi glossy finish (b@stards releases the Matt Black 3 months after I bought it) I don’t polish the bike. I would think though that the parts you polish would be the painted areas, such as the tank, and as far as I know the likes of All Year Biker don’t apply the acf50 over the tank. They do however wipe turtle wax over it instead after cleaning, again that’s just to my understanding. To answer though I think if you were to ACF50 the untreated areas of your bike and wax the painted you would be safe as a house. I also wouldn’t see any reason why waxing over the top of the applied ACF (when dry) would cause any issues. Darn good question though, hope to see others chip in with their thoughts too as I could be wrong :)

Nice video, shame about the lack of voiceover though, don't be ashamed of your accent, we all hate the sound of our own voices as it never sounds like us. Id also have taken the seat of and coated the electrics underneath.

Was the Karcher connected to a tap or only a tube from buckets of water?

  • @Boy.of.wonder

BCL to the buckets buddy, karcher have a small adaptor. The pressure isn’t as strong though which made it great for the bike. I now have an outside tap so use the other nozzle for a much lower setting

Hoffnungslos Cool 👍 I’ve been reading up on the suction hoses you can buy for the Karcher, if you’ve no outside tap (like me). So the way you’ve done it in the video is the way I’d be doing it.

Rocking in a free world agree with you on these although I don’t spray around the grips fella. The bars are applied with a lint free cloth but I did miss out that once the pegs are done I wipe the excess off to prevent them from being slippy. That’s my bad and thanks for bringing it up buddy 👌🏻👍🏻

Being a 365 day all-weather biker I usually do mine every 3 or 4 months and frankly it's not worth being too worried - After a couple of times of careful covering I ended up just wrapping the brake discs and calipers in a plastic bag and spraying everything else only being careful not to spray it in air intakes etc.. Once I've finished with the ACF50, cleaned and lubed the chain, I give the tyres a 30 second once over with a soapy brush and rinse them with the jetwash, then give the seat, grips and pegs a bit of extra attention with a clean microfibre and it's good to go. I was actually surprised at how easy ACF50 was to clean off tyres - easier than the faffing involved of covering them. Turns out the slippy qualities of ACF50 is no match for soap and a brush. All absolutely fine and no slippage on a wet road. As long as the tyres end up squeaky clean it won't be a problem.

Also Scottish so can understand your comment but embrace it anyone who complains can just stop watching. One thing I would say regards the seat is that I take the seat off and get right underneath it so ACF under the seat as well.

Paul Stanley hey man, only reason for the tools is I have them for work, can honestly do the same with kit that costs much lower, a £30 fast mover spray gun from eBay would be just as effective honestly. I find the traffic film remover doesn’t leave a residue, the snow foam does. Cheers man :)

Nice work, my only tip from a professional view is to never use a brush on your paint. Use a high quality wash mitt. And anything that touches your wheels, motor, footpegs, fork, let any super dirty part of the motorcycle should never touch you paint as well. If so it will cause scratches and swirl marks in your paint.

David Burns hi david, very good question and one that you could ask yourself (or inform us here) the next time you wash your car or see anyone else washing a car, windows, bus stop.... however the products are non toxic. The gully drains here are actually just water traps in a new build residential brickwork car park but as I say, the products are non toxic. You can google the data sheets if that’s what turns you on. Cheers
