You would do that by adding a function call to set the default value when the record or form loads. If you go to the Application Help and search on Application Studio, there is a good walk through that shows you how to do this.

Thanks for the video. How do you do multiple "where's"? You can do the list but it does an "or" function. I want to do customer number and shipto together for example. At the moment it's doing cusnum or ship to in the lists.

Just to add. Under customer - ship to. I'm creating a baq of the ship to number and customer number. Then pulling through comments. The baq works fine it's just application studio

if you want to reduce the number of columns shown in a BAQ result , which is the better option in term of speed between changing the BAQ itself or to modify it in the Application studio ?

I like to re-use my BAQs wherever I can especially if they are complex. Then I don't have to remember all the places to change if a rule changes or I find an error. If changing the BAQ is going to cause you to create another BAQ, then I would leave the column. If this is only used where you're changing, then remove the column from the BAQ. It will be MINIMALLY better as there won't be data for that column going across the network. If you are talking removing 200 columns from the BAQ, then definitely remove unused things from the BAQ as that will definitely help you - specifically with larger data sets.

My rule of thumb is to try and predict what the users will bug me to add later and just hide those columns in the results. Then I tell them they can just personalize it in.

How to add a button using application studio like for example in Sales Order, I want to add a button for AR invoice to be able to have a short cut that once I click the AR Invoice button, I automatically direct in AR invoice landing page. Thanks

This is already built for you. Go to the tracker view for Sales Order and then Activity | Invoices. To have a button open a URL, you can set the action to be the URL.
