Thank ya for sharing So glad that the Travellers are still doing what they have done since beginning of time ✌❤to y'all
I bought a nice young cob from a traveler man. And it turned out to be a great horse. My daughter rode him for years. Then i gave him to my uncles riding school.
Thank you for keeping our fair alive many people not seen in ages, roll on next year this fair has been going for many years long may it continue.
Love the music and the bloke narrating it,great voice, rate up north by the sound of it.
I'm sorry for all the negative and narrow-minded people in the world. I love gypsy and traveller traditions. I'm sorry that more people can't feel the same.

100% agree, most are very religious, family is everything, a shame their old fashioned ways are scoffed at,good people ❤
Great filming and thanks for sharing guys really enjoyed watching start to finish
What I love is that the Irish traveller community is a distinct, thriving and growing diaspora here in Britain. I have non-traveller irish heritage myself, and I've felt as if I've lost my sense of ethnic identity here in England, but the travellers have retained their customs and I'm proud to say we share the same islands.

Appleby Horse Fair is an English fair with English Romany Gypsies. Or at least it was until recently

Irish travellers are 100 percent ethnically Irish . No relation to the Romanies who have genetic connections to the population of Northern India . They have been in Europe for centuries .
Interesting. I never knew about the Appleby fair until this year. I’d love to get up there one year.
catching a horse like that with no saddle and no saddle horn is v difficult
my mother-in-laws maiden name was Doran. She lived in Liverpool but the family was from Ireland

Your mother-in-law and i could be distantly related, my family from my fathers side are originally from Ireland too. Is she related to Irish Travellers? Doran is an Anglicised Irish surname, it can mean wanderer / traveler in Irish.

Irish Travellers, English Gypsies, Scottish Gypsies, etc are not genetically related to Romani Gypsies so it’s not accurate to call us Romani.

@@tdoran616 The vast majority of traders who go English horse fairs are English Romany Gypsies. I've been going to them for many years with my family and until recently there were no Irish or Scottish there. The Irish Travellers who go are very recent. I remember a time when the only people at Appleby and Lee Gap etc were farmers and English Romany horse traders, also small markets selling tack, brasses, leather and so on. You saw no tourists, nothing like that then.

@@beauicelock7909 horses are very strong and resilient animals, the river wasn’t that deep and horses are pretty good swimmers so if they were to tire out they were very close to dry land.
