I got mine a few days ago. 3:02 - You say, “for now, it still performs best when connected to an iPhone, Mac, or an iPad for additional processing power, storage, and connectivity.” I don’t follow you there. It works just great for typical iPad-style apps, like Email, text-messaging, and of course works fantastically for every kind of video viewing. You may or may not want to Bluetooth a trackpad or keyboard to it, if the applications you run require a lot of typing, or very-fine-precision pointing. However, I doubt many people will need more compute power or storage. “Connectivity,” perhaps so, in the sense that, like any laptop that doesn’t have its own cellular connectivity, if you’re outside of WiFi connectivity, you may want to connect it to your cellphone’s WiFi hotspot. It can mirror a Mac’s screen, but I at least don’t know of any way to tether it to an iPhone nor iPad, and I can’t think why anybody would want to do that. 2:50 - Interesting: I haven’t heard “XROS”; I’ve heard it called “VisionOS.”

What do you think of the vision pro overall? Would you use it everyday? Is the weight a problem? We first became aware of visionOS under the name xrOS after some digital investigating unveiled a cleverly disguised trademark filed by an Apple shell corporation. The “xr” of xrOS stands for “extended reality,” the clear focus and vision of the Apple Vision Pro.

@@QuantumSparkChannel, thanks for asking! I mostly use mine to watch video, surf the web, and to read and answer (via voice dictation) Email, while I exercise pretty much every morning. I can place and size the (virtual) screens more flexibly than a physical monitor. My main overall impressions are: - If you require prescription vision correction (i.e., if your natural vision is not sufficient, or you’re not comfortable with contacts), order the Zeiss lenses with or before the Vision Pro itself. To order those lenses, you need to send them a picture of _an actual _*_signed_*_ Optometrist’s/Ophthalmologist’s prescription_ . You can’t just “make up” the numbers. - I haven’t seen issues with weight. It’s fine for me at least. - Also, no signs whatsoever of motion sickness. - Battery-life has not been a problem either, mostly because I can plug-in for much of my workout in the morning. - The field of vision (how much peripheral vision you have) is limited, but acceptable. - Image quality in the video it creates is really superb: crisp, clean, and colorful. Pass-through video is decent but not great. - All things 3D are way-excellent! What Apple calls “Immersive Video” is positively mind blowing! - Sound quality on its built-in speakers, or on paired AirPods Pro, is amazingly good-quality and immersive! - Eye tracking and “clicking the mouse” by tapping your fingers together generally works well, and feels semi-magical at first. _However, it can be tricky_ . That, both because some iPad apps require extremely-precise pointing, and also because it’s easier than you might think to unwittingly tap your fingers together unintentionally. I find it useful to occasionally redo the eye-tracking-calibration (perhaps once or twice a day). I therefore bought, but haven’t paired up yet, a “Magic Trackpad” for higher-precision pointing.

@@QuantumSparkChannel, just FWIW, although I haven’t heard it called “XROS,” I’d have _guessed_ that the “X” would be a stand-in for “A” or “V.” That is, an OS for AR or for VR. I’m just speculating though…

Never heard OS referred to as XrOS… Plus, calling the M2 a smartphone processor is misleading, since it’s in iMac’s | MacBooks | and iPads… After the first TWO incorrect references, I had to stop watching at the half way point…. Might consider better research before posting videos…. 🤔

Your right, we should of said M2 Processor, not smartphone processor We first became aware of visionOS under the name xrOS after some digital investigating unveiled a cleverly disguised trademark filed by an Apple shell corporation to the New Zealand Intellectual Property Office. The information coincided with a report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who revealed that insider sources also confirmed the name xrOS to be legit. The “xr” of xrOS stands for “extended reality,” the clear focus and vision of the Apple Vision Pro. As it turns out, Apple's final name for the software is visionOS.
