  • @ChristopherLecky
    @ChristopherLeckyАй бұрын

    Terraforming mars is easier using autonomous systems like robotics as it will require far less journeys to the planet and pose far less risk of failure....With a moderate investment an autonomous cycle of growing biomass can be established where the initial first investment is designed to be scaled again and again producing only biomass from one single plant species that's genetically modified for speed and resilience to both produce atmosphere, biomass and a percentage of the materials required to scale up! thus terraforming becomes a perpetual system... All other methods will take to long, probably kill lots of people and be far too destructive and risky....Yes it can be done, in fact it can be done pretty soon and successfully but the solution must be utterly flawlessly designed. What I'm suggesting can be done in five years,,, or you can long things out and take decades thinking and talking about it which is actually what's currently most likely to occur...We would need to literally bury the entire planet under a thick layer of biomass!

    They have demonstrated Optimus operating on neural nets with the brick sorting exercise. AI requires training, the teleoperation is training. Currently, BD have not confirmed that new Atlas runs on neural nets, their previous demonstrations were scripted exercises. Figure 01 is currently the most sophisticated neural net based bot. Tesla has proven ability to manufacture at mass scale, Boston Dynamics are comparatively small in this regard. Economies of scale will be the primary determinant when it comes to producing bots at the consumer level.

  • @TroySavary

    @@fubar12345 Boston Dynamics is owned by Hyundai now. They have a much more proven capability to manufacture at scale than Tesla. A neural net connected to a geanny shuffle bot is meaningless. BD bots are actually in the field, performing jobs. Optimus is barely crossing level floors.

    @@fubar12345 The brick sorting thing was moreso a demonstration of the dexterity rather than the substance of the demo itself. Brick sorting is a relatively trivial demo. BD has demonstrated reinforcement learning before, and have shipped software that includes it. They also have commercialized several robotic products before. This ain't their first rodeo. I would trust the company with a proven track record in robotics more than Tesla. But that's not to say tesla's robot is bad, it's just their first attempt selling a robot, so I would wait and see.

    There is no pressing requirement for a bot to perform acrobatics. A useful bot will be able to load a dishwasher, cook a meal, operate a screwdriver etc. Excessive strength requires hydraulic actuators, the complexity of which increases the cost and maintenance requirements of the bot considerably - a case of overengineering. Excessive strength of bot also presents a potential safety hazard. If the bot can be overpowered by an average human, it is an effective failsafe. If the bot is stronger than the average human, you are at the mercy of any malfunctions. Affordable bots for domestic use, able to be mass manufactured at reasonable cost is a primary objective. Tesla has a proven record of mass manufacturing at greater scale than the majority of competitors.
