    The amount of energy that your phone uses is incredibly small when you compare it to it's manufacturing. The iphone battery holds around 5Wh of energy, so charging your phone for a year is ~1.8kWh. It's estimaded that manufacturing a phone requires 288kWh of energy. That's why improving manufacturing and recycling is WAY more important then device or charging efficiency. Ofc it would be best to use phones longer and buy less new stuff. But Apple doesnt like that...

For example every phone needs to have a universal standard charging standard no if and buts. No special mode for special Phones if you have a technology you have to share it otherwise its a automatic 20procet of yearly income untill fixed alo bans selling of the product. Ovs it has to be a good implementation and co driven by company's and the government/s

Other cases from like an unknown seller in amazon would just include a stick-on metal ring or something like that. For me however, I didn't buy the Moment case but went with spigen's s-pen case n stuck a metal ring on it (u can buy n use magnet rings instead if u want, but they usually aren't strong imo n that metal ring would just work with any magnetic accessory as some of them use different magnets than the ones magsafe uses).

    The wall mount at the end would be amazing when paired with a rfid chip. iPhone Shortcuts can be made to do any shortcut action when they pair with specific RFID chips. So, for example, you could make your iPhone turn on an egg timer when you set it on a countertop holder, or perform home automation tasks when attached to the wall. Actually can you do a video on the Shortcuts ecosystem, especially on RFID uses.

    @@HugoMak Normally USB power banks use a single cell or parallel cells which gives you the typical 3,7V with it's corresponding mAh. Apple seems to use 2 cells in series, so around 7,4v. This is less common and since most USB batteries use 3,7V you can reasonably compare them with it. But yes Wh is pretty much always preferable.

    The screw mount might work best in industrial settings where the user could snap it to a wall near where they work. You don't have it to fish it out of a pocket, it's already high up enough for Face ID to work fine. You can use it mostly hands free, and all the swipes to navigate are immediately accessible. I guess that could work anywhere anyone needs quick and easy access to their phone in a vertical orientation. I'd be interested to hear how people do use them.

    1:58 So, 1,460mAh = 1.46 Ah (just divide by 1,000). It's also rated at 7.62v and 11.13Wh. Notice that 11.13/7.62=1.46. That's all there is to it. This works because Wh (watt hours) = Ah (amp hours) * v (volts)

    1:58 1.46Ah × 7.62V = 11.1252VAh ≈ 11.13Wh Makes perfect sense, what's the problem?? Amp-hours are only comparable when the voltage is the same (which they usually are; Li-Ion 2S is typically around 7.4V), the value you should look at is watt-hours which is a unit of energy. (1W × 1s = 1J) The Anker one is only 1S (3.7V), so it doesn't have 3.4x (5A/1.46A) the storage but actually just 1.6x (18.5Wh/11.13Wh).

    I love using MagSafe but I really hate the name. MagSafe on the MBP was awesome. If you caught yourself on that cable the cable would just pop off. The laptop wouldn’t go flying. The socket wouldn’t be damaged. MagSafe with the iPhone 12 is really cool. It feels like the future more so than previous wireless charging (because of magnets). But it really should have just been called AirPower.

  • @aird2679

    @aird2679

    Yeah, there's no "safe" element to it like with the MPB. I think the point was to take advantage of the old MagSafe's to create hype at launch. If that was the case, it definitely worked.

    for the wall mount, it'd be great to attach to a magic arm that you'd then clamp to the basin or the wall in the dark room, allowing the phone to stay high and dry while it times out your wet processes

    I love this battery. Use it most everyday when i get home just to keep the phone topped up. I haven't plugged the charging cord into my phone for almost a month now. The only reason to plug the cord in is to do a software update, transferring files not handled from the cloud and local storage/backup. So I guess charging is mainly through my MagSafe tree and battery pack.

    Hey Jon I like you videos discussing all the pros n cons with a overall good balance in between And yes I agree that MagSafe is great as a nifty feature I usually use a 5W Qi charger for slow overnight trickle so I can save my battery longer And has for that Moment mount I have a few idea You can build you own stand Attach it to something for long hours of Netflix without holding your iPhone or just having something hands free Give it a try and thx 😁

    Nice Video, I pretty much have the same phone you do, iPhone 12 Mini in Red. When I bought it, I bought mous case for it, as I always do for my iPhone, it also has magnets built in, but is not MagSafe compatible. I really thought it wasnt that big of a deal, now I see all the accessories coming and I kinda regret my decision xD, mous does make nice cases, just for some reason their lineup for the 12 Mini does not have MagSafe except the clear case.

    13:50 I’d stick that to the ceiling above my loft bed to hold my iPhone there, that’d be pretty slick. I have at times taped my iPhone 8 to the ceiling for watching movies and having a more convenient way to attach it would be awesome. Even better if it charged too (Otterbox if you read this please put MagSafe Attach magnets in the defender series).

    I got a blue Mini. Love it. Hate the fact that everybody slams on the battery. If you just use it like a tool and not a food source, it actually last a long time on a charge. I generally get nearly two days and charge it around 35% remaining. I'm looking forward to even more efficiency when iOS 15 rolls.
