I'm really annoyed that Tesla so far refuses to offer Carplay. To see that they are implementing Airplay is a confirmation to me that they're not planning to implement Carplay in the near future. Huge bummer

@kentroskelley1389 thanks yeah I saw those 3rd party options. I might try that, although I expect a native solution (if it ever comes) to work better and more seamless.

CarPlay in Tesla is a game changer. Just need Elon to realize, they have not perfected UI like Apple has… 🤔

Downmarket brand’s like Tesla should not use HQ products like Apple, cheap knock offs Chinese products are more apt for poorly built cars like Tesla.

Thank You for this video! i am doing my best to get the most out of carplay. Is there any way to turn off the feature in maps tries to guess where i am going every time i connect to apple car play? I would just like it to show the current map of where i am. each time i connect i then have to touch the screen to cancel out the suggestion and then go back to the multiview home screen home screen thanks again.

thanks. so what happens when there's an incoming call? does the maps screen get minimized in favor of the call screen? this would be an issue when navigating a tricky spot using one of the maps apps. thanks,.

Hey Chris - great video. In CarPlay, if I have an appointment in my Calendar that has an address, if I bring up my Calendar in CP and hit the address, will it open Maps to do an automatic routing?

Yes, it will open Maps and automatically route you to your appointment’s address.

Sounds like great updates! Not sure when iOS 17 will be released for me. Just downloaded my latest version of 16.6. Great video.

For shareplay, can we disable the QR Code?

The biggest issue with carplay is that when you get a call during navigation, it flips to the call screen and then you have to come back to the navigation app. It is even more annoying if yo dont have a touchscreen so you have toogle back every time. Is there a solution for this?

Been using carplay for years... Still waiting for the most basic settings toggle/switch/option... SET DEFAULT MUSIC APP. I use Spotify, but almost every time I get in the car, the same song (out of four song i own i Apple Music) starts.

You can also set up a Shortcuts string to automatically open Spotify when you plug the phone into the car/“when CarPlay connects”

In my Toyota, Messages are read so quietly that at any speed, I can’t hear it. Can’t find any way (phone, CarPlay, or car audio settings) to increase that volume. Map directions are nice and loud; only Messages. Any suggestions?

Cross-fade is just on iOS 17? Because I cannot find it

I love how the new messages UI doesn’t dominated the whole screen.

I think it's pretty good. I haven't found any viruses yet, and it's also convenient to use with full functionality.

What about multitouch in apple maps and google maps in Apple carplay?

The parked car feature is not exclusive to carplay. When ever you disconnect from a car’s bluetooth it does that.

Is there a remedy for screen timing out..? Android phone is set for 30 min time out

I really don’t like that it locks your phone and you can’t change music with it. I drive an older car and I find it more difficult to touch the CarPlay screen. I know the whole point of this is to keep you off your phone but your phone and the screen in the middle are the exact same thing. I find it easier to keep my eyes on the road using my phone. CarPlay makes me lean towards the middle, have a hard time reading the options while my view is mainly my dashboard and It makes me feel like a fighter pilot tying to hit a small button at a distance. CarPlay isn’t for me, I wish those touchscreens came with Bluetooth because one thing they’re actually good at is displaying a map and staying in one place

Crapples car play screws up my iPhone SE every time. Plus having to use a cable sucks.

Exactly. Why can’t I make the icon order default to what I want for any car I’m in… like a rental car.

Apple should really really fix how you select things you search. They give a list and numbers on the map, but you don’t know which is which. And you can’t tap the location in the effing map!

@@ScoobieDoobie197474 there not always accurate. On my Nissan navara it was out by almost 4mph which in the UK in a 30 zone will get you s as couple of points on your licence.

Imagine being able to connect ur phone on carplay and ur iphones background automatically pops up. That Would Be Awesome🔥😨😱

Carplay works with Google Maps

Regarding downloaded Maps under CarPlay, or just using downloaded maps, I’ve discovered a major shortcoming. The reason for downloading a map is to be able to navigate when you’re out of cellular range and in a different country. We used downloaded maps within CarPlay or just on my iPhone in a recent holiday in Spain and discovered you can’t search for anything within a downloaded map unless there is internet access, either cellular or wifi. This makes downloaded Apple Maps useless and very disappointing. Am I missing something.

Shareplay to my car and you are getting kicked out.

As a bicyclist I came here to see what all the hype is all about Just seems like a radio honestly

I've given ApplePlay so many chances, but I still find myself not using it 90% of the time. Here's why: 1. It saps a TON of battery! With it plugged in, after arriving at my destination, the battery level is much lower than when I started. 2. It interferes with the FM radio (at least in my vehicle). I would assume that the FM radio is completely separate, but somehow, when I'm not even using CarPlay whatsoever, it hijacks audio from the radio. 3.. Shazam doesn't work, either with FM radio or with music from streaming apps. In order to Shazam a song, I need to completely unplug CarPlay. 4. Facetime doesn't function properly. I can understand for safety reasons not watching video while driving, however, CarPlay has it OPPOSITE. The video of the person you are chatting with still shows, however, the other person cannot see you! Isn't this backwards? For these reasons, I mostly just stick with bluetooth to connect my phone to the car.

Maps is just nowhere near Google Maps yet

Apple Music sound quality is better than Spotify. If you have a good audio system, it’s impossible not to notice the difference. Spotify has been promising a higher-fidelity version for years but they never follow through.
