I just got back to playing online games after a 1.5 year hiatus and I now appreciate playing every character and getting my butt kicked. Even fighting axel as nago is fun for me now. I'm just glad to be playing again 😂

I wanted Slayer in the game and I couldn’t be happier.

I have a limit of 10 games per day for slayer. I can fight them, but i get tired of EVERYONE playing only slayer. Gets very boring and most slayers play way too similar.

Did people ever 'like' Slayer? In +R and Xrd his defining feature was ToDs and being invincible on every attack. Best not to confuse "hype" for "actual enjoyment". We all knew exactly what we were getting in for when he was requested.

Mankind knew that they could not change Slayer. So instead of reflecting themselves, They blamed the dandy.

Everyone acts like their main is entitled to be busted when they are because it's strive, but you can only do this to a certain extent before the majority is going to rule you out. If the dodge rate for a particular character is starting to climb, that's objective data that has nothing to do with player sentiment. It's just a fact that you can consider.

​@@iceinkI mean Slayer doesn't seem *that* strong. He's just annoying and tricky. The biggest upside to him is absurd damage and making your opponent scared. Once they're scared they make stupid decisions which they get hurt for. He's definitely strong but he hasn't done anything egregious from what I've seen

I swear if I know anything about Guilty gear's community is that once a new character releases at first is like "OMG THEY ADDED X CHARACTER BACK IM SO EXITED" and then one week later "THIS CHARACTER IS BROKEN, I ONLY PLAY FAIR AND BALANCED CHARACTERS THAT REQUIRE SKILL WHILE PEOPLE WIN WITH THE NEW CRUTCH CHARACTER" and its always like that

I don’t like Slayer. His kit’s fine but he just deals too much damage, but that’s the general theme in Strive ig. I just feel like Slayer deals too much damage too easily, so even if I guess correctly and answer correctly 14 times in the match, if I guess incorrectly two times I just die.

@@AubergineMans quite a lot yh, but then again you also have your i-no, bridget, millia, chaos, etc. who don't do that much damage (compared to the others, ofc haha) but instead they set up situations that skew the risk-reward so hard in their favour they can usually keep rolling. And then you also have the characters like axl, testament, johnny etc. who (are meant to) win neutral more often, but get less reward. Damage is very high across the board in strive, but slayer is definitely one of the characters that will fucking detonate you if you get touched by him lol. Personally idm his damage, and I think he's fine overall, but I will admit that when i'm playing against him for the 78th time this week, I do sometimes feel the irrational anger of "why the fuck does he just have the ignorant miracle cure to all situations: mappa hunch", but at least I let myself cool off instead of taking to twitter to complain about how he's "broken" lol. He can be frustrating to fight when you play dozens of sets against dozens of slayers in a row all playing near-identically, but he's not broken or unfair, and I don't even really dislike him, I think he's cool, I just see him way too much xD

Slayer is the only character in Guilty gear Strive who’s matchup win rates are all mostly green. I personally think he’s a little obnoxious but it’s possible to beat him but I can see why many would rather one and done 😂

I think we can expect that data to even out eventually. It’s a lot easier to learn how to win with Slayer than it is to learn how to beat him, probably more than any other character in the game atm. That will skew matchup data hard.

I love playing him but fighting him is annoying bc one simple mistake and it's ggs shake my hand

slayer is just wrong but not for the reasons people think, he probably has the best neutral skip in the game (kmappa), full screen punish super, built in crossupps and almost always plus or almost neutral moves on block , the damage is fine but it becomes frustrating the moment he can just mix you over and over again with moves that can be special canceled into p/k mappa without any reliable way to punish him

I think he's cool overall, but when I play against dozens of slayers in a row all playing almost identically, I do begin to get frustrated at the cure-all to neutral in mappa hunch haha

People also think airtight autopilot 30 second uninterruptable offense on a "low damage, mid range control character" is fine because the execution is hard so they can hold this

"Airtight, autopilot 30 second uninterruptable offense" does not exist in this game. It was *theoretically* possible for Asuka at one point, but even then it wasn't practical or worthwhile and required the use of tech that even the best Asuka players do not use consistently, let alone loop.

as an aba main, he ain't that bad to fight (especially compared to axl)

For me, it isn't about the damage, it's how much he quickly gains tension bar. While he's not as hard as one thinks to find holes in his play, I'm more miffed at how easy he is to pilot when in previous games he's a bit more technical, imo. For how much damage he does and how much meter he gains. And that complaint is more targeted to how Strive is being handled.

Well duh. If you check puddle farm matchup charts for the top 1000 players he doesn't have a single matchup below a 60% winrate right now lol. (it drops significantly if you look at the porportion chart and then shoots all the way back up if you look at the top 100)

I think they need to tone down his damage first, and foremost for sure. He is doing way too much work off of simple stuff that shouldnt be that beneficial; and thats coming from a Slayer main

I've been waiting for slayer to come back since forever, and I'm so fuckin happy that i can play my boy again. If only people would fight me more than once when I try to play him, I'm not even good at strive and it isn't helping me learn much when everyone tries to dodge playing me mostly

He’s just a well designed character. If you play a character that can contest his neutral, you clearly see the holes in his gameplay. In the neutral, all there is to watch out for is yolo mappa or Kara Dandy-Jump and both options are easy to deal with even if they mix in their approach.

Nobody like slayer in xrd, because he was fucking cringe. What did they think was gonna happen in strive, which has notoriously given new characters really annoying and oppressive move sets? Slayer in xrd was literally strive- before strive.

Slayer is a fu-ahh character. Downtune this dandy gentlemen for his players are getting carried incredibly hard

Nah, Slayer always likes that. But a good challenge in the old game with huge damage reward. Strive design-wise Slayer should be easy for marketing purposes. We are definitely going to see some damage nerf and the issue will be resolved 🙃

Nope. The only possible exceptions are Izuna, Paradigm and valentine, because only 5 people in the world actually played overture.

Rn, I am not into this game, but seeing you cook Slayer as well people meltdown in the comments section. With Classic Arc system release pay to win character something shouldn't be missed.

I hope that when GG releases slayer one of these games he gets to fight at full potential and he’s just the most braindead zoner like even Happy Chaos players are jealous.

I've only seen people in YT comments asking for slayer nerfs, haven't seen any pro/high level players complaining about him, that says a lot.

To me it just seems like slayer is very easy to play in comparison to some of the other characters since he can severely punish a mistake with only a very simple combo, so people that do make those sorts of mistakes at lower levels are punished by slayer heavily, something that not many players at that level could do because it would require more elaborate combos from other characters. Not to say that there aren't any other characters that have such high damage or easy combos, but with pot or nago they at least have some downsides which kinda balance it at that skill level

Slayer is annoying but not my biggest problem with this patch, Leo and goldlewis, on the other hand...

Imagine taking hours upon hours to learn any other character just to die to 3 pile bunkers by someone who has only played for 10 minutes. That is the entirety of the slayer experience. Until they tune his damage down, that's how it's gonna be.

I currently don’t like slayer because he makes my healthbar disappear so fast that I’ve genuinely gotten confused by me losing a round just because i thought i had more health left. Like cool, I messed up once and where did my health go ? Nobody knows. Then again I play goldlewis so I guess this must be what my opponents feel like all the time. Maybe it’s a matchup thing maybe it’s a balance thing, at this point I don’t even know anymore

@@Bonemannes yeah, not all of the them are bad, Nago is struggling, Baiken doesn't seem to be doing too well either, Potemkin, Zato, Axl seems like a struggle character too, I feel like May is also a rare sight nowadays, but I might be wrong with all off this. I lowkey feel like the only reason why people still play these characters are because of character loyalty, I feel like the newer characters are just getting outclassed such as Nago, Slayer literally just does everything better than Nago, so it's like, why the hell would you play him when you can play Slayer and get more from him?
