When the hostility from the machines began, we were still able to control or deactivate Artificial Intelligence systems, and small robots were little more than an ominous annoyance. We should’ve known better. When androids got involved, it was difficult, but not yet impossible to subdue them. Despite the warning signs, nobody would have been able to guess what would come next from that soulless and unrelenting enemy.

Whoa, whoa, wait... huge mistake right in the beginning. He says he was a US Army colonel, but then mentions "the corps", as a USMC Marine would refer to their branch of service as "the corps". I'm sorry but little details like this can ruin a story right from the get go. 👎
