    Sorry just cant . Something about this guys voice . Love this ch but every so often just dont click with narration choice . This one has too much exaggeration generally, too much cheese horror style . No issue with ppl who like that and no personal issue with guy who narrates this story ( obv thats stupid when ppl do that ) but yeah just not my thing . Hope others like it

    The manner of speech is awkward and a bit unnatural. This is why you do multiple drafts...

  • @errantintent
    @errantintentКүн бұрын

    Additionally, the descriptive parts were very out of touch with how people actually talk, and there was a lot of awkward repetition of phrases and words close together that also isnt how people talk. With the normal short stories, it wouldn't be so bad, but this entire one was supposed to be all spoken aloud.

    @@errantintent Not everyone is going for realism, especially in scifi where you’re almost expected to make characters that are completely unique.I didn’t find any of these criticisms to impede from enjoying the story and based off all the praise he got I’d say he did a good job.

  • @errantintent

    @@i_eat_soap792 you have not understood what I'm saying. Listen again to the part where the fight gets described. It's written like narrative prose, not speech. No one talks like that. There is an expected level of realism when it comes to believable monologue/dialogue, whether you're writing sci-fi or any other genre. I'm a writer myself, and a critiquer. I'm good enough to get paid for it. I know what I'm talking about.

    Cool story overall but a little confused about the part where she's like Oh you know that like giant black sphere that descended to Venus while I saw a very similar sphere while approaching the planet but didn't want to tell my crew mates because They might think I'm crazy Like why the fuck would they think you're crazy Isn't a giant mysterious black sphere kind of the reason you're here in the first place So wouldnt a slightly smaller but still very large black orb be of concern to your crew?

    Story 1: Slightly jumbled military terminology, and really glosses over some important stuff (like how big their unit is, and some amount of suprise at suddenly fighting the people they are there to help might have been good). Predictable ending but well enough executed. Story 2: No world building at all. Monster attacks on this planet are frequent but its a tourist destination, but it also doesnt get regular traffic? They thought a bride had physically ripped an entire wedding party apart? How would they even suspect her? Is this a setting with super humans or cybernetics that would allow a normal seeming woman to do such an inhuman act? The military are completely unable to fight off recognised and known creatures from a nearby planet. But dont forsee the twist? And the creatures are completely unstoppable by heavy ordinance and fortified bunkers? Can't help but feel the ending was a rush job to close out a story that was intended to be mich longer.
