This remains, hands down, the defining depiction of Apocalypse to me. Loud, articulate, and dramatic with powers the likes of which most in the series have never seen before. And those lines! "I am the rocks on the eternal shore. Crash against me and be BROKEN!"

It almost happened to this show too! 😬 But that's an unfortunate reality of trying to make a blockbuster hit movie. Only way to prevent it is if the studio execs were also genuine fans of the source material like Kevin Feige is.

Poor Cable was probably confused as hell. I mean, he came here expecting a duel to the death with Apocalypse, even doing the classic "If you strike me down, someone else will take my place" speech. And instead of doubting him, Apocalypse realizes, "Holy shit, what if you're right?" Cable was probably thinking: "Did... Did I just break Apocalypse by giving him a mid-life crisis?!" It's only when Apocalypse goes, "Oh wait, I can time travel now," that they both snap out of it! 😆

This monologue was also foreshadowing Apocalypse's defeat once and for all (at least until they decided to extend the show. Originally this arc was the final arc of the show. Cyclops and Storm were going to die in the final battle with Apocalypse and Apocalypse is killed by being sent to the end of time by every single psychic character in this show).

I'm surprised at the reasonable depth of this villain portrayal in a children's show. Of course fighting a time traveler from the future that's committed to your destruction would give you pause and wonder if you're on the right track - I just didn't expect to see that angle in a kids show. Actually, it’s more than that. This scene takes place in the distant future that Cable calls home, meaning that the Apocalypse that we see here is one that managed to outlive the X-Men in spite of their best efforts. And yet, even with his godlike power, even after literal millennia of warfare and conquest, even after every foe that he has managed to slay, there are still those who fight to make sure that he doesn’t remake the world in his twisted image. At this point, even an immortal being like Apocalypse would start getting fed up.

“BLASPHEMER!! YOU DEFILE MY SACRED CHAMBER!!!” Anytime someone disturbs me while I’m taking a dump.

Ayeeeeeee that blasphemer part is killing me yes😂😂😂😂 and also in the fourth episode of this Beyond Good and Evil Chapter when Cable after travelling to the axis of time, when upon arriving, he exited the time machine and asked, Where am I?" and apocalypse answered and said, "Your final resting place." 😂😂😂

Buddy was PISSED. "You dare defile my sacred CHAMBER!!??" There was GENUINE anger that this dude existed in that location lol

The voice actor for this version of Apocalypse is, for me, the definitive version of this character.

In this cartoon series, Apocalypse was my favorite antagonist, hands down. Yes he was a bad guy, but saw himself as a necessary evil. He was driven by the "survival of the fittest" ideal, and that is what made him who he was. And with his boatload of abilities, he was nearly unstoppable in his quest. You know you are a beast when whole teams, including the X-men, are attacking you at the same time!

@@jrstuckey1471 Kind of. Sinister had a fantastic story arc with the savage land stuff but he wasn't much of a villain. Ironically, Sinister wasn't all that sinister. He more or less just wants to do wacky experiments that, from his perspective, would ultimately make the world better. If he wasn't obsessed with Cyc/Jean, he wouldn't be a 'villain' at all.

@@jrstuckey1471 In the comics, Mr Sinister is a servant of Apocalypse and most of his powers come directly from Apocalypse's experiments on him. They touch on that a bit in the 1990s Animated Series but the comics are much more detailed about it.

@@rockon1172 It was bad in the respect that Magneto joined Apocalypse until the end. It was bad because of how Professor x got stomped. It as bad because of how easily he defeated Quicksilver. In short Apocalypse was OP in the movie. There is no way he should have been able to catch Quicksilver. They should have had Cable show up to help defeat him.

It was Great. Comic Books read like that with Certain Villains using old words and Terminology. And the way John Colicos read the lines was just Perfect. Felt Diabolical and Poetic at the same time. I always liked the line he gave to Beast, *"Beast, how many "peoples" have dreamed of my end? You are no closer than the "Babylonians" with their swords and fire sticks!"*

NOW yes. When you were a kid sitting there on a Saturday (the only time this show would air) and it cut to a commercial break at that moment, it was enough to make a person throw a temper tantrum.

Apocalypse is so cool, he can stop fighting in the heat of battle just to have a two minute conversation with himself about is capabilities! LOL

I like how every single movement from Apocalypse emits robotic servo noises, no matter how subtle. Either he's some jacked-up cyborg or he's in some insane mech suit made from Celesti

I love how Jack Kirby made both Apocalypse and Darksied but kept them both vastly different. Darksied is more cunning and diabolically evil while Apocalypse is a literal instrument of biblical destruction.

This is the Apocalypse that I recognize and enjoy! John Colicos was amazing.

You are closer to defeating me then the Babylonians with their swords and fire sticks.

This X-men cartoon when it aired when I was a child. I fell in love with Apocalypse. I remember his quotes for 25 or more years. Than the movie ruined him. Now I come here to watch the one true Apocalypse. Not the fall god in the movie.

Strangely enough, he has a tiny viewscope mounted on his arm weapon, but he is never seen actually peering through it.

If the movie made apocalypse like this then it might have been watchable

The dialogue In that clip is better than all the X-Men movies combined

I really admire how the villains monologue in this series so much. As if at some moments they can have self reflection or take time to better analyze things in their perspective. It showed that things were just so easy for them yet they still wanted to remain self aware of everything around them

The script and story of the X-MEN cartoon was way better then the comic movies these days

The way cable is experienced with his powers and time travel is so amazing

@@edntz To be fair, the computer seems to have rejected Apocalypse given that his very first attempt at time travel was a complete disaster. Cable def installed ID-apps.

1:27 He halts in unstoppable attack to ponder out loud about his plight. He almost make you feel sorry for him, never being able to achieve his goals and dreams.

Cable just made Apocalypse one hundred times more dangerous and powerful, thanks Cable!

@@tarikcollins778 Is pondering a question for 10 seconds without feeling depressed about it, really considered a crisis though? Doesn't seem like it to me, but it depends on how you interpret the definition. And he didn't stop what he was doing, he simply looked for a new solution to accomplish his goal. Unless you're simply talking about taking out cable, but cable was obsolete. An insect is insignifcant and his chamber became irrelevant too, because he can now time travel. So there was no need to protect his chamber anymore. Had nothing to do with his realization between the balance of good and evil that didn't allow him to win.

Apocalypse seems to be like Beast. High level vocabulary and extremely well read on stories. Apocalpyse used words like hubris. Beast used words like stratagem and inexorable. Apocalypse talked about the tortured Sisyphus. Beast would recite Shakespeare.

Cable literally pushed Apocalypse into an existential crisis

i'll never 4get, this is what made me start paying attention 2 Apocalypse. when he said, "Evil?! I am not malevolent, i simply am." i was like, "Whoa!!" "this dude is no Sauron, or Cain Marko butthurt at his stepbrother. this dude is a THREAT!". and i've loved his big sexy molecular structure changing ass ever since that day.

The 1990s were such more lit than this decade or the one before it. Men still had balls back then.

A man’s ennui did more to stop him then mutants for thousands of years.

The beginning of where Cable says, “Cover me”, it reminds me of Marvel vs Capcom 2, when he asks for assistance.

Cable pulled out the Hyper Viper Beam a bit too late. Loved how he told his team Cover me like on Marvel vs Capcom 2

The writing on this show was on another level. It really made you think.

I haven't seen this clip in a while, but all I can imagine now is that Tom Hardy thought this Apocalypse would make for a great foundation for his Bane voice.

Calling someone insect and filth while talking calmly is hilarious!!

I thought Cable was going to give him a hug 🫂 because Apocalypse looked so depressed. 😂
