APEX | Living With an E46 M3 Track Car; Sonoma Track Day
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
It's good on the street, but can the E46 M3 hold it's own at Sonoma Raceway?
Join APEX Creative Director Yo Keutla on his first ever track day in his Alpine White M3 "Club Sport". Does the E46 M3 deserve the praise it received even when pushed hard on track or is this chassis showing it's age?
Bonus: Watch till the end for a hot lap by our quick racing instructor Joe McGuigan!

Love your personality! I have to agree a seat would help you so much with feeling what the car wants to do
Great video, I run 30psi hot on my e36 m3, on apex arch 8s of course! A seat will make a serious improvement, it’s crazy how upgrading a seat will make you faster!
these videos are so good, keep it up guys

Good point...I only gave the mod overview in the first episode and that was a basic one! An episode where we dig deeper into the car when we make changes might be needed... Here is the stuff that matters. Full interior/trunk minus rear seat - No idea on weight Ohlins R&T Coils w/Swift Springs (Spring rates unknown) Evolve Carbon airbox OEM headers/cats w/Supersprint exhaust APEX EC-7 18x10 ET25 w/Kuhmo V730 265/35/18 Endless brake pads

@@apexwheels Do y'all find that the 18x10+25 requires any work to the fender, or is to aggressive for the street? Im debating between that setup and 18x9.5 +35

In back the 18x10" ET25 is a pretty easy fit. Up front however you will need a pretty large amount of negative camber along with a suspension that has good inner clearance. We really only recommend that setup for people doing a lot of track time. For the street, the 18x9.5" ET35 with a 12-15mm spacer in back is more ideal. Depending on the wheel model, the 18x9.5" ET28 is another god option, especially for those running coilovers the need more room up front (KW, Bilstein PSS10, etc.) Feel free to get in touch via email if you have any questions! expert@apexraceparts.com
Is your quick release hardware attached to the crashbar? great video!

I don't know how it's mounted myself, but you can ask Yo on IG at @yo_keutla. He'd be happy to chat! (this car is for sale btw)
The quality and direction of all the recent videos, including this one are on the up and up! A few thoughts/ideas for the future... - During your fast-lap attempts, the splicing in of b-roll was confusing/distracting, taking away from what might have been a much more instructional video. - Having some thoughts from the hot shoe driver directly may add more instructional value. - Overall I felt you opened the video with a premise of sharing more about the car's specific characteristics / build and you ended up focusing a bit more on the track itself and the car's elements became secondary. (my personal interpretation anyways) Perhaps there were some teething problems with cameras and mics (happens all too often), but keeping a greater consistency on angles/mounts and audio are the last 10% that would make the polish on these videos even greater. Thanks for putting in the work!

Thanks for the thoughtful feedback! The lap talk through ended up being more a ride-along experience and I was hoping the B-roll would have added to that in hopes of being a more immersive experience. It has been awhile since I've done a talking lap review at pace, so definitely a little rusty! I already have some ideas to tackle some of the feedback you have, so I look forward to getting out again with the team to film!

@@apexwheels excited to see more!
what is better for a track - M3 or cayman 2009?
@apexwheels
Жыл бұрын
Great question! I've owned two 987 Caymans actually a 987.1 Cayman S and a 987.2 Cayman R. One really isn't "better" than the other as they both have their unique benefits/downfalls. Overall though, the M3 is the easier car to get up to speed in and be comfortable in my experience. The Cayman's mid-engine balance is fantastic but will take some time to come up to speed. Once you are comfortable though, I believe that the Cayman is a more formidable track tool and would be the faster all things equal. Can't go wrong with either!
Hi me up Yo, i've got a brand new in box Recaro Profi SPG XL i dont need!
