Orangutans are incredibly intelligent in terms of cognition. they're comparable if not greater than that of a chimpanzee or a bonobo. They're smart enough that they can barder from humans and one keit escaping from an enclosure at a zoo abd they couldn't figure out why but then they found out he had a paper clip abd kept unlocking the door to his enclosure

Higher thinking is just a byproduct of complex language. If you know how to talk, you have a stream of conscience and organized thought inside your mind, and that reflects in abstract ideas.

@@baussier134 it's a chicken and egg phenomena. you need the physical neural model to handle complex cognitive thought, which enables powerful information processing, but the ability to manipulate complex information rewires the physical model generationally. Octopi are an example of high cognitive ability but little to no information transferring due to being anti-social. it's just conjecture, but if there was evolutionary pressure to select octopi who are more responsive to others, it would trigger a feedback loop similar to our ancestors where there is sudden jumps in intelligence.

The fasces (a bundle of sticks) as a symbol of collective strength of weak individuals has a really long history, popularised by, and yet pre-dating, the Roman Empire. In fact, the term fascism comes from it, as the fasces was the symbol of the Italian fascist movement. To be clear, it's not ONLY a fascist symbol, and can be seen in all sorts of places across Western civilisation. For example the Worker's Institute at the Black Country Living Museum (constructed around the turn of the previous century) has fasces on it - a symbol of how a bunch of individually un-empowered women chainmakers were able to strike together and force concessions.

You know Maurice is actually an incredibly smart Orangutan. Not only can he also sign, but he can keep up with Caesar and even point out holes in his plan (apes as they are aren’t smart enough to truly unify to the extent Caesar wants them to) And unlike Caesar he didn’t have the serum at this point. This is all his base Orangutan intelligence
