I guess these games are just a counterexample showing that > is not a transitive relation for aoe2 skill.

Lesson learned: If Viper can't get it done, send in T90.

You never really defeat Fatslob. For a defeat only makes him stronger, makes him refine the formula, makes him stay longer in the basement, makes him order more takeaway pizza.

Any Game against Fatslob: "Let me In! LET ME IIINNNN!!"

I think the general strategy to beat fat slob is pretty simple: 1. Psych him out by forcing him to waste resources on walling by making multiple routes 2. Let him wall you in, and let him play the long game 3. Show no interest in the route you want to take, but a little in the others to get him to focus the others more 4. Pressure his walls just a little to keep him busy on them, but not so much as to devote too much of your resources early 5. Build a force up late game and make it massive where he has to keep walling (a good boom is important here), preventing him from making mass of scorpions 6. Profit. Once you overrun his walls, it’s game over for him. He’s very devoted to high defense and long run play. If you don’t keep resources from his troops he’ll just repel you. Keeping him on walls can greatly hinder his capacity to amass a force to defend especially if you do it fast enough that he hasn’t started producing an army yet. But letting him wall you in and giving him that security lures him in to thinking he has the time to upgrade first and stockpile. He expects people to hit hard first maybe tower rush him. It’s like attrition but fat slob does it to himself.

I think it's partly that the villagers used in walling aren't villagers gathering resources, which is key to booming.

As an aoe casual, i enjoy tour vids and thank you for making me discover fatslob, thank you for being always nice to him in your comments thats a refreshing mature content you have there :) oh, also, a BIG GG on this one ; D hehehehe

That for sure is one to move from the bucketlist

Its a viable strategy to make the enemy come to you. Problem this time is that T90 boomed way harder than him, therefore T90 had the attack power when Slob only had a few siege engines. Also he had to spend a lot of time and stone to wall off 3 sections early on, making his eco suffer too much. I would have liked to see what happened if he only had mid and west to wall off.

@@daniellentz4335 Yes, this strategy would have worked perfectly, if he wasn't a fatslob and boomed faster. But that isn't the point is it? he wins the easy way. Starve them out with a 2 week long siege game, whilst you have all the resources.

@@daniellentz4335 Honestly I'd say that fatslob is exploiting by demanding that everyone he plays use the old version where onagers can't cut trees. He can't adapt to the patches and that's the main reason he wins as much as he does

Happy to see that you won the match, and that your skills are up. Unhappy to see another fatslob video where the opposition sleeps on their monks. Its so painfully obvious that monks are the counter to this cheese legend. Its the easiest thing in the world to just have a few monks out. Had three people building a wall and you didn't get a convert off. I almost think these matchups are as real as wrestling. Much love tho

Hey man - my wife thinks I'm a nut for watching your videos all the way through from start to finish. She woke up last night and was like "Can you please just turn that off and go to sleep!". Whatever. Anyhow, it made me so nostalgic that I downloaded it from Steam a few days ago. The only issue is that the resolution is so small I can barely see the income counts top left and the upgrade options at the bottom. I've tried a few things, but no luck. Do I have to change my screen resolution each time I play the game or is there something less cumbersome you would suggest? Keep it up - love the work! I appreciate you.

​@@absolos6945 In RTS games when people get more serious about them, they find it rude to take a game to completion. They quit as soon as possible when they think they're going to lose rather than struggle through it. There's a strong sense of absolutism, like "I know you/I can't win from here". In reality there might be a chance for a comeback, or their assumptions could be wrong, but they figure being behind by a certain amount means loss, and that fighting for that win is rude and time-wasting. (If it's not clear by how I wrote that, I disagree with that mentality.) In this case, Fatslob has done this more than enough times to know he was going to lose, even if another player might have been able to come back from it. It's not that somebody realized his tactic, as he's already seen the video where this guy watched and analyzed everything he did, they both know T90 knows what he's going to do, and he still did it, because that's just how he plays. They also both know his weak points, and after ~4000 games, Fatslob himself most of all. The legend thing is in the sense that it's a really interesting tale (what legend actually means), not that he's like the best player ever or something. People talk that way because they find it funny he's winning the way he is, and by some metric, has to be considered "good", despite it going against what people believe to be good in the game. In other circumstances, what they value is typically more important to victory, and how he plays doesn't fit in with their expectations on how the game should be played, so some find it comical, some find it interesting or amusing, and some get upset about it and call names.

Being ignorant, it just seemed kind of petty how quick he threw the towel, considering how his opponents themselves keep trying, even after they realize how near impossible it is to overcome his tactic. Sort of "If I don't get it my way, then I am not going to play." But you are right. A legend can be many things, and I guess I had a narrow view point of the word when I wrote the first comment.

​@@absolos6945 Honestly I'd have liked to see things play out more too, and I think in general quitting so early is denying people a chance to learn and improve (maybe on both sides even). I think the struggling through the non-ideal circumstances is where you learn the most. I have a friend though that says he'd rather start a new game and practice the part that came before, so it never hits that situation to begin with, and he'd always gg out before I even truly did anything (much to my annoyance). I suppose it's just playstyle preferences, his style is going to leave him less versatile and adaptable, but more solid "where it counts" - until somebody gets "past his wall".

Only 3 years late to this video. Havent played AoE 2 in ages but could you have used the monks to convert thr trebs?

Break the walls, break the man.

Problem with fatslob is he is too reliant on stone walls. It wastes his precious stone which could be used to build tcs and castles increasing villager and trebuchet production. Another problem is he cant adapt as well. The offensive player can start chopping through the trees at multiple point forcing fatslob to spend more wood, villagers, and stone building walls and defending not to mind splitting the trebuchets. I would use at least 3 angles of attack on him with varrying distance with trebuchets and then use light cav to bust through and apply pressure.

hey all, i'm a huge fan of AOE2, especially when they made the conquerors expansion (yes, I've been playing since then), and would love to take part in some community/competitive gameplay! I have a few questions, I hope someone can give me direct, full, step by step instructions, as I've never been able to do it on my own (Windows 10 laptop). 1) How do I get the correct version of the game to be eligible to play in the community? (i prefer Conquerors, and haven't played HD but I don't like what I hear of it - avoid HD if possible) 2) how do I connect to and play in the community? Thank you all for reading all of this, and especially thank you whoever gets me up and going!

All you need to play is the voobly client as others said, there are people that play good old AoC still. If by community you mean playing on streams, you won't be able to play very often (or at all) since he doesn't do AoC games anymore unless we play a mod that doesn't allow for WololoKingdoms. If by community you mean just people that play AoC, or the t90 community outside of streams, just find someone that wants to play AoC.
