You can also hold shift and add more barracks/etc that did not fit on the screen, as the doubleclick only selects visible buildings/units. So lets say I have 5 barracks in the east, 2 in the north and 4 in the south, I can combine them all in one control group(ctr + number). Perfect for spamming etc. It also helps a lot with keeping up production while focusing elsewhere.

Think best game I had was 2v2 with my friends me and my teammate ruled keep enemy on their island with sheer numbers of boats and when they weren't paying attention landed about doze siege ongers and clear cut the other half the forest off the island and they didn't notice till after I finished. All the sudden hear across the house "Where the fu** did all our trees go!?".

Congratulations on your video. Your voice is great and I couldn't have done a better job teaching new players. I couldn't help but notice some mistakes though (my opinion): 1) You should have built your third TC before stone walling (avoiding the use of the market to buy stone) and speeding up your vill production; 2) You could have done a better micro with your vills - especially the lumberjacks; 3) Researching ballistics was a huge mistake since it is expensive and does not affect onagers! It does affect castles and TC's, of course, but you were in a offensive position so it wouldn't make a big difference. Up chemistry instead! I'm just trying to help here btw. Keep the good job!

if you build the farms while the mill is being built, the villagers building the mill will automatically spread among the farms after it is completed

in my opinion it depends on the map and the number of players. if the map is BF you can build a wall and make america great... no wait that was something different. i mean if you can scout, you look at your enemy first of all. try to adapt on his typ of play. if he rushes, build units early, if he goes full-on-booming, do the same thing, or try a rush yourself. scouting is key.

Borium you probably just have to build several military buildings. 1 bareks 1 stable 1 archery range and 1 siege workshop isn’t enough to get 100 military fast enough. Get at least 3 of each, which will be easy with 100 vils

Can you give some good examples of reliable couplings that people can use? Like, would archers and halberds be a good idea to cover each others weaknesses, or would they be too vulnerable to siege?

What about sending a few militia to that choke point before your opponent can wall it and then just controlling it that way?

You have such nice base building layout skills ( Mine is always so messy pfff )

How do you get other graphics? Your farms look different and your trees are smaller?

for the beggining. if you live in a economy type game. and plan on building trade routes and protection, here is my recc. 4-5 lumberjacks. with saw stop. (for bonus trading) 3 gold miners with mine. (troop prod.) 2 stone miners with mine. (upgrades and etc.) and 8 square with middle mill farm strat.(inf food. plus good trading material. you should try to use wood though. for when you hit war its most of what you need.)

I played with you last week and had the same problem you mentioned in the video. The other teams best player had longbowmen and his ally was backed up with some other infantry, and I couldn't think of a way to possibly defeat him with the Celts. I went with scorpions and got rocked. I never recovered. I should have gone Onagers, but I was worried that his ally would charge while his longbowmen picked them off. I've never felt so helpless.

It's just based on your monitor resolution. If you set your resolution higher (or get a better monitor), you'll be more zoomed out.

The half pop as vills only really applies to 1v1s. In bigger team games, I think maybe 45% of you population should be vills, 15% be Trade Carts, and the rest be military. So in a 2v2 of 300 max pop, you should have around 135 vills (between building, farming, lumber jacks, and some miners until you transition into carts, then back into wood/farms), then about 45 trade carts, and the rest into units.

Cutting Trees with Onager and Treb was added in the Expansions. For the farms he installed a visual Mod, theres plenty of those

I love to play Nomad, but I don't often play it on stream because the matches typically turn out to be extremely one-sided. It's pretty easy for a player to get picked off in Nomad really early on by building too close to an enemy or being surrounded, so they tend to devolve into a 3v4 or something rather quickly. That and not everyone knows how to play Nomad so it's harder to balance the teams. Lastly, resource distribution can be a tad unfair as well on occasion. Still though it's fun to play. :) The next version of my AI will feature a Land Nomad map. Here is a Nomad match that I played a while back: Aoe2 HD "The Forgotten": 4v4 Land Nomad (Franks, Forward Castle Drop) (11/25/13)

I mean this in the nicest way possible: Your pronunciation of Halberdiers is wrong. It's not pronounced Hal-bird-ee-ers, it's pronounced Hal-bird-eers. Not sure if it's a subconscious thing, as I tend to do the same without realizing sometimes but hope that helps! Great tutorial, btw. depends, on castle age, a straight formation infantry can be countered pretty well by onagers or scorpions, because of the splash damage, also cavalry archers work pretty well

Not true about only having a army of scouts I've been slaughtered by wave after wave after wave of them things cause i could not build my spearman up in time so they do have a bit of a blitz going for them.

While the Celts are undoubtedly quite powerful, they are most certainly beatable on Black Forest. The entire point of this video is to explain to you how to do it. :) My opponent simply had a much weaker economy, poor micro, and ill-advised unit choices. If he had a stronger economy, micro'd his Mamelukes properly and built Bombard Cannons he would have made short work of my army. More often than not, when a player feels as though they cannot defeat their opponent's army it is because they are neglecting the concepts that I cover in this tutorial. Every civilization has many strengths and weaknesses and it is up to the player to either take advantage of those or inevitably get steamrolled.

I know this is months old but on the contrary, Black Forest is a fairly simple map which allows a new player to focus on the important bits... the micro, the econ, the decisionmaking... rather than trying to do all that whilst playing a randomized map. I think once someone has the overall process down, it's easier to go to a new map or type of map and say "OK, how do I adjust what I've learned to work in *this* context?" But hey, different strokes for different folks.

Why isn't the unexplored map black? Is this some standard online setting where you see everything? Why not put all the sheeps close to the town hall and kill them? Why take one at a time? Also why not kill all deers at once and then farm them? Can't they run away? I'm noob :c

Viktor Svensson Don´t worry :) Everyone was a beginner at the beginning. Now, to answer you questions: 1.)You can adjust the map view in the options, when you start a new game. Simply look for (I think it´s called) "Reveal Map" and set it to "Explored", to get the same result as Resonance22. But, because I assume that you are new at the game, I would select "All Visible", to see the other´s plans and learn from them. 2.) and 3.)If you make sure, that the villagers only collect food from only one sheep/deer/boar, you will get more food from them, because hunted animals loose food over time. +Viktor Svensson You can think of decay as one extra villager working against you. So if you have 4 villagers on an animal, there's a 5th collecting for himself - you'll get roughly 80% of the food. If you have 9 villagers you'll get 90%. Usually, you use 6 on sheep (mostly because you use those right at the start and you need at least 6 to keep villager production going), up to 9 on boar and 4 on a deer (or 3 if they are close to a mill or TC) Also, it's good only to have two sheep under your TC, one being harvested and the next one to be killed, but it's not that bad if you have multiple under there. If you find it difficult to do many things at once and forget your sending your sheep in, feel free to send several sheep and focus on something else. The difference is not huge.

the reason i lose is cause i am lazy if i ever get attack i jsut resign even if i have 10000 of all resources (this is 90% how i lose)

i used to play this on the ps2 and wanted to get it again but im having a lot of trouble winning shamefully i actually cant even win against ai ive been using the huns because i often find i am forgetting to keep up with houses and the huns take away that issue while giving extra room for other things i normally just get swarmed by a massive army i never seem to have a big enough army in time

+Jessica Kuntzman Each civilization is different(obviously),but I myself am better with infantry(Aztecs,Japanese,Goths etc.) and in situations cavalry(mostly Huns and Mongols).Try and find what works best for you.A tip on the houses:just build a lot in dark and feudal.I could give you more tips if you told me your strategies,but for Huns;don't focus on the unique unit,it's better for raiding.Mass an army of Hussars,Cavaliers/Paladins and regular archers(deal with pikes/halberdiers)or include something to counter pikes(siege or infantry) and use Cavalry Archers.Also on a water map don't doubt the Huns if you find yourself playing against them.They get a lot more wood than you would think for not having to build houses.Just experiment with other civilizations.What's that in the distance?I didn't expect this.Nobody expects the Spanish inquisition!Yes,the Spanish are a good civilization for new players,like you said you're coming back to the game.They get most of the techs and the Conquistadors are a pretty good unit.In naval warfare/maps the Japanese,Huns and Vikings(obviously) are great options.Koreans are pretty good with their turtle ships.Japanese have a strong navy,Huns save wood and Vikings,don't be stupid they're Vikings!If you have anymore questions just ask.

It just so happens that you play pokemon and aoe lol those are 2/3 games I play so every video is worth watching

I will keep playing and learning AOE 2 until Detective Gumshoe gets a raise/comes back next Ace Attorney game.

You should check out SpiritOfTheLaw's video on Wheelbarrow. it may not be as effective as you think !
