my thoughts!
11:21 Those "cinematic bars" are a product of the filmmography process called letterboxing where the laterally compressed digital footage yielded by anamorphic lens cameras are stretched to cinematic aspect ratios (e.g., 2.39:1); emulating the field of view of human eyes which gives people a subconscious feeling of naturality and familiarity with a scene.

Oh, hey, there's this one game with kinda similar artstyle called Wandersong.Go check it's Steam page if you're interested!
lmao your artwork is always impressive Thomas, but turning a pile of garbage into that beautiful stylized landscape truly demonstrates your expertise imo. I think this may be your best video!

I have to agree. Really great video.
Bold of you to assume that my illustration-skills have any hope.
this is like *"what are you doing step pallet"*
Honestly...That initial drawing looked pretty darn good. It makes me wanna play that game. A boy and his dog on an adventure.

Brother/sister colors and cousin colors has to be the best way I've ever heard complimentary colors described! Great work. My mind is fucking blown.
WHOA. My next game Neversong comes out on Steam MAY 20th! Wishlist now to snag that tasty launch discount :) store.steampowered.com/app/733210/Neversong_formerly_Once_Upon_A_Coma/
Man I wasn't looking, but I needed this right now. I've been practicing my art style for an indie game I plan on developing, but I've been really intimidated by the thought of trying to draw out a full scene. I was worrying maybe I'd use lines wrong, or maybe I'd get the colors off, among many other things. This video just really helped build my confidence. I definitely believe I can do this now, thank you.
Thanks Kyou for this amazing video Tom. Really impressive!
Can you make a tutorial on how to draw that image?
damn. that final gradient overlay you did really pulled everything together. I needs to slow things down and watch that part a couple of times, it was pretty fantastic
Need more of this , you are such a talent
I am genuinely shocked at how he made that thing so beautiful in the end!!!
Wow, that was very helpful! Keep it up! I'd love to see more videos like this!
Can you do a tutorial on drawing a scene? From app to draw in, to all the assets you want to include in the scene? (ie background forground, enemies... plants, trees, clouds, etc) Would love to learn how to draw these lines correctly to make them look refined for my game
Thanks for showing us what’s possible when you know a few tricks!

Dude i want to be able to do the "bad" version
This is fantastic. Thanks so much for this video and your others. Very inspiring. My challenge still might be figuring out colors. That step seems like magic. You just knew the colors that would work. Amazing
Mind blown. That isn't ugly, that's ART!!
This is cool! It's a nice intro/shortcut to values and perspective in drawing!
Nice Haircut! 👌😎 Thanks for the tutorials! 😁
This was such a dope video! Thanks Thomas!
Now I know how he got the last name of 'Brush' XD Seriously though, this is pretty eye-opening.
That's... almost a little terrifying lol Thank you so much!
Learning a lot from you. Thank-you Mr. Brush 😊
This is super cool and informative~! Learning about how the atmosphere affects the environment really helps me. It's kinda disheartening to know that something I make when actually trying is comparable to something a five year old would do, but still. Great stuff.
I'm making a game right now, but I have a SDE background and your artist perspective has been incredibly helpful!
such a fantastic video, and channel. well done!
It is not simple for me at all but, my God, it is mind blowing. Probably one of the best video on your channel so far imo.
Amazing what you done to the original work your talent is magic.
I have huge respect for youtubers who timestamp their sponsor segment
You make it look so easy lol, great video!
Very ispiring. Thank You for your content!
I think this shows something really universal of beeing a professional artist. Most of the time, with the right tools you can make anything look great, and not rely so much on inspiration. Great video

Pinstripe is a fantastic game! Well done. Great video. Subbed.
Awesome man super helpful thanks
I just need to figure out how to do some of these things on my iPad in Procreate so I can continue to create art assets during commutes. Amazing tutorials and advice as always!!!
This is a great video! I'm wondering though what an equivalent might be for more of a top down game? I totally get the idea of using these principles of color and distance to create great layering effects, but when you have a top down game with basically a ground and stuff on the ground, I'm not sure how much of this applies.
I would like to say that we need more videos like this! Photoshop and illustration! To be honest you rock on this one! Quick Question : How you identify bros and sis colours?
@kritik_mb2144

bros and sis colors are also called as complimentary colors, they are just opposite colors on the color wheel (just google complimentary colors if you don't understand me)

I love it, thanks brush.
Great video, well done 👏

This deserves much more views, this is the type of video i want youtube to give me when im searching for "how to draw", this is fucking it
Name? Brush. Choice of paint tool? Lasso, obviously. 🤣 Awesome demonstration 👍
I played your game and it was fantastic. I love your art style. I felt like playing a game which looks like movie. Plz make more art video like how to make your type of art. It's too beautiful.
You went from Shit to Stylized in 10 minutes flat. This was a great lesson on the importance of color.
Thanks for letting us know such an amazing thing that can be done in Ps.
That has to be one of the best Videos ever 😳❤️😲
damn thomas works fast! thanks for the video tho man my game really could use some nice looking backgrounds so this helps a lot!
Hi I just want to thank you about the home alone trailer. 👍🏽 Keep the good work you are awesome. 😎
Thank for this!

Wow you are great artist, this is very good art example!!!!!
Haven't watched your videos since the PewDiePie game, but this was really helpful.
Thank you so much for this video it’s beyond helpful 🙏🏻😮💨 Makes me believe that I can actually make something somewhat decent 😮💨
Even this makes me look like a noob. Thanks for the video
Thanks, you give me a hope about my wonderful skill of doing crappy art work
Thank you that's Amazing 😍😍
For the whole video I just thought water tower is a giant walking by.
Hmm, thought my game art was good, then I realized it was the "crappy version turned good"
I feel blessed to have watched this
The quck drawing at the start is better then what I do when I try lmao
you are cool man...love your work bro
Wow. Very cool!
That was sick
Jesus... I've done a lot of art (drawing, painting, etc.) but you used a lot of different tools so fast that I have no idea how to do. If I can figure Gimp out though I think I could really do some great stuff.
Dude you're a wizard!!!
bro that bad illustration is way better than what i can do
Thaks for this video . For next video can you show us how to make animated backgraund elements like trees, grass, flovers bending on wind , some water splats maybe a water fall, 2d sunshine effect e.t.c
i'm seriously impressed
Hey Thomas, amazing video! Btw, do you mind making some tutorials for photoshop beginners. I'm programmer but whenever I open photoshop, I don't know where to start
much appreciated
Great demo. Are there any skillshare, udemy or other corses you recommend that go into some of these art techniques more in depth so as to help us work them into a daily workflow of routine?

I actually recommend picking up some books and getting private tutoring - If you can afford it. Go on linked in, find some artists you like that are in your area and hit them up. You never know what they'll say yes to. I got tutoring from milton j. pool for about $100/mo and even though it was online he set me straight on what to focus on as a beginner.
I'm making my first game and this actually really helped me 😅😅😅 in not the best drawer so I was leaning in on the more childish art style and I was about to make some really bad color choices
awesome!

the thing is that they don't pay anyone, they offer share of the sells they will get from your viewers. so they technically can give infinite sponsorships without loosing any money
Dude it's perfect
Hi Thomas! Thanks for the video - it greatly illustrates how professional you are. But as a tutorial, I think it is not really good. Sorry :( I suck at art - and I don't know the theory of opposite colors. Where did you get colors at 4:55? How do I choose the opposite color for my custom one? Then a bit at 6:00 about saturation also did not make a lot of sense to me. How did you choose that color? I also did not get a lot of your manipulations with color overlays and Photoshop in general. But that's probably me being stupid.
Just curious, what did you do on Layer 9 so that when you selected around the body, it only applied the color to just the character?
Skillz
Just for information sake, this is the basic color principals of in Graphics design. Thanks Thomas for your youtube videos. You are a University for indie developers.
Damn that was cool
Duuuude, that water tower is waaaay to big
Great!
I feel like in a way he made the drawing look more lifeless than the source material. BTW the drawing you made in the beginning was better than any drawing I have ever done.
