My favorite treasures of the video were the history lesson, the match striker, and Baguette. ❤

Baguette will be thrilled. She had to hear the match story first.
That teenty, tinety lighter is adorable. I love a good history lesson, especially when I'm not bored to tears. Fantastic job with that

I love how everyone likes the mini! It is so cute.
Ah Katy, well done missus- great finds for your collections. I'm partial to a good biccie tin myself. Loved the history lesson too. Bryant & May, the London match manufacturers of the said strike were Quakers but surprisingly seemed a lot less concerned about the health and safety of their workers as compared to other very famous Quaker businesses of the time- e.g. chocolate confectionary makers, Cadbury (Birmingham), Rowntrees (York) and Fry (Bristol) who's ethos were deeply routed in their faith and values that made a huge difference to how workers were treated and valued.

Oooh! And yet another layer added to the story! That makes it even more a scandalous! I didn’t know about the other Quaker brands, but now I will be extra happy to have a Cadbury egg.
Yes, you can put the butter dish in the fridge. But when taking it out it may cause condensation from the change in temperature to rust/tarnish the metal. But it’s perfectly ok to store your real butter on the counter as it is covered. Enjoy ❤

Good to know. I think I’ll definitely try it on the counter.

Yeah I keep smaller amounts of butter out on the counter at a time. That way it doesn’t go off, just refill it every few days.
take it from me, biscuit tin collections take up space. Use them, display them all throughout the house. Don't stash them

Yay! Sorry to educate and horrify everyone.
Great history lesson, thank you! I live close to an avenue called Les Allumettieres (The Match Makers), and I now understand where it comes from. I loved the antique tin box. Maybe you could paint the indise in silver or black, and use it to keep an assortment of fancy tea bags (packet in individual pouches). I enjoyed seeing how much pleasure your found treasures give you. Have a great week, Katie!

To me, this was a perfect video. Very unique items AND cool knowledge. Its hard to pick just one treasure, I love the lighters, but the striker is SO unique. How could you possibly think you wouldn't find anything?? Its PARIS!😂

So many cool things! Can’t decide between the Empress lighter and the Japanese cigarette case. Thank you for the interesting history lesson. The Victorians had quite a few toxic manufacturing processes - look up ‘poison green’ sometime. Glad you found treasures that you could fit in your suitcase!

Good news is, butter doesn't need to be refrigerated. That's just an American thang we do, unnecessarily. Living in Los Angeles, I leave butter out, unless it's uncontrollably hot in my kitchen (like during LA summers) and I don't want it to melt entirely. Otherwise, if it's butter (not margarine or vegan substitutes) you can leave it out. Enjoy your shell!

Glad I’m not the only one. Haha. I just like the history for some reason.
The bisquit tin is very cool, can think of so many uses for it. Whoa on the shell dish container, and......with matching knife, nice! Oh my - the lighter is really cool, was surprised when you revealed it was "lighter". And...a reminder of sexy Oscar and all he has to offer! Adorable little mini lighter - how sweet. I don't recall ever seeing a lighter that small. I had no idea what the cigarette case was. Very unusual, a music box cigarette holder - interesting. Score on the match striker, I'm jealous - it's pretty damn cool! I did not know about "Lucifer Matches". I did google it, I will be reading more about them. Some of the images were pretty strange. I will be keeping my eye out for them in antique shops from now on. All the information on matches, I had no idea. Pretty scary stuff from back in the day. You shared a wealth of "match Knowledge" and very interesting about the history. I could see this being a topic at a gathering, to generate some weird conversations. I have a match collection - i only have a few antique/vintage ones, mine are mostly from the 90's to present time. You have inspired me to watch for vintage ones now. Thank you.

The match talk is great to pull out at a dinner party if you want to educate and horrify your guests 😂 But, yes, I don’t think I’ll ever find anything cooler in a match striker. I’ll continue to look tho!
Great video, loved the match history. I liked everything, because you have a great eye. I think liked the box best. I'm a sucker for that period and boxes to organize with. Ended with a preposition, sorry.

The box is so pretty, and the fact that she’s retained much of her gold is especially great.

The Matchgirls' strike of 1888 reminds me of the Radium Girls here in the states, who painted glow in the dark numbers on clocks & watches in the 1920's & 1930's.

Itemized fan-girling alert! Alert! OMG, the biscuit tin. So romantic! Chef's kiss! Also--dude!--even the butter was pretty back in the long ago. I can't get behind a pen that's not chew-worthy, but hell yes for lighters! I'm on my five-millionth pack of smokes rn. And, as a chain-smoking writer, I think that pen lighter is perfect for me. Lmk if you don't already have my address. The tiny lighter? With purple snake skin? OH HELL YES. Because sometimes a fancy lighter is worth the price of a purple snake's life. I'm literally swooning about the cigarette box. Who's jealous? What? Best-worst of all, I can't with the match striker and the history lesson. Swoon. I'm over the edge now. And up at 4am on deadline. 😜 And rambling....k....End of micro-procrastination break....🥰
