Thank you for sharing your faves - yes, more videos like this, please! All of the items were impressive, but I particularly liked the girly, iridescent poison tea set and the vintage matchbooks - tiny works of graphic design art, meant to be disposable. It’s fascinating how good the quality of art was in even the most low-rent advertisements before photography took over.

@@tngirlz4622 Totally! The best things about antiques were the fact that every little thing was made as its own work of art. I’m very much getting into my antique accessories era with gorgeous everyday things of beauty, like envelope openers and tea spoons.

Yes! I know I need to!!!
It is so amazing to me to watch all the young 20-30 year olds buy things from the 1980s that I got rid of years ago. This whole vintage vibe blows my mind. Art that I would have paid someone to take away is now worth hundreds of dollars! I had a HUGE match collection.. so much that I eventually used the some of the covers and mod-podged them on the front of an old kitchen cabinet door and made a piece of art. 😂 I fished brand new kitchen cabinet doors out of a construction pile .. they put in the wrong color but they were beautiful solid wood going in the trash. I gave some away and a friend made a beautiful headboard out of them too. I think I finally got rid of the matchbook door last year. I was afraid it would end up at the land fill. These days someone probably actually wanted it!😂😂😂❤

No way! That is so wild. I love it. I’m getting old enough to see things from my era become vintage, and it is hilarious to me. But I know that’s how everyone feels in every generation.

@@LaughCryDIY take it from me tho .. gen x and before didn’t really want vintage anything. There were always a few traditionalist “old fashioned” people out there .. but most of us wanted new.. or mid century modern/modern vintage only. This trend with you guys is pretty much a new phenomenon I think coming out of environmental awareness. I am here for it! 😉

Haha. What a perfect poem.
I have that exact same toaster S&P, in fact, I have a collection of mid century mostly plastic kitschy and/or touristy S&P. I have a plastic console TV with pointy plastic legs and when you turn the volume and channel knobs, the S or P pops up out of the top of the TV. There's a red and white push lawnmower with wheels and as it rolls, the S&P "pistons" go up and down. Little red plastic toilets with S&P holes under the lids, ceramic pink flamingos and a black and white set of fat pigs humping I got from a truck stop in Georgia. There's about two dozen more like these. I have old matchbooks from the 70s and 80s but I don't still collect them and they're mostly from here (central Florida) and Cleveland (my aunt sent me a bunch she collected for me). This was such a fun video!

This was such a fun video, thoroughly enjoyed it. I also have a matchbook collection. I'm 70 and have been collecting since my 30's, ok....no judgement zone. I also think they are fun and very artful. I started many years ago when they were given out for free in restaurants, bars, hotels, etc. Suggestion: another fun thing I used to collect were coasters. They were free from pubs, restaurants, hotels bars, etc. They usually have the name of the business on them and some cool picture. I also have many beer brand coasters. Friends and coworkers would collect them in their travels for me. I have some pretty cool ones from England and other countries. You tea cups are so beautiful and glad to hear you actually use them. Love the tea pot set, nice!

Oh Wow I loved this video! When you opened your cupboard to reveal your tea collection I gasped like a little girl looking at a collection of beautiful treasures, so unexpected 😊 Also loved the salt & pepper toaster, such fun. The matchbooks & vintage postcards are brilliant, looking at those can transport you to a different era that you were never part of but you can feel it! I don’t think Baguette was feeling this video, does she not have a collection of vintage mice or bejewelled collars she could have shown us?! 😂 Love to you quirky Katy 🥰

Look at you being all educational and shiiiii lol. I really love how you did this video, you should definitely do one or two a year! It was cool learning little tidbits about LA history thru your personal and thrifting experience. Totally agree about the home decorator niche on YT being very elitist and condescending at times. I also watch Nick Lewis cuz he gives good home decor tips on how to look for furniture and what's worth the investment vs not, (also good finds at IKEA) but then sometimes he also slanders pink/mauve in a way that makes me want to fight him haha. I also feel attacked when he talks bad about faux marble contact paper for countertops& other items that are obviously fake marble bc I have a slight obsession with white marble&granite but I'm a renter so definitely not getting the real deal anytime soon. Like, so what if I want a faux marble plastic trash can Nick, it's pretty. I *know* nobody thinks I'm rich enough for a real marble trash can. 🙄 But then forgive him bc at least he's self aware and always makes the disclaimer that's his opinion and to do what you love lol. Also, thank you for letting me know about whimsi-goth, I didn't know there was a term for such things and feel validated 😄 Frickin' LOVE your tea set and your heirlooms. they are all so beautiful. Wow. I’m honored. 💁♀️
I’m a new subscriber. Love your humor and love seeing you put a room together with lots of color and pattern. I’m I renter surrounded by brown. I have brown antique furniture and a brown leather couch. So hesitant to paint the furniture. Brown carpet 😢. I’m an artist dying to put color in my space. Thank you so much for your tips and entertainment!!!

Oh thank you so much!!! I hope you can give something a fun color splash soon! And if things are antiques but you’re not in love with them, maybe flip ‘em and get something different? Just ideas. ❤️💛💚💙💜

Never thought of you as a teacup girl... but then I saw the "cyan" print, and it started making sense... How did you get your hands on those German matches, though?

Haha. I feel seen. You know, those matches were just in a random tub. I don’t think I showed the interior, but they’re hot pink and have a kinda funky shape, which was why I got them.
What happened to match books? So cool and prepper handy

Right? I did see a girl on TikTok who designed custom ones as favors for anyone who came to her apartment. Absolutely genius.
Could dust be considered one of the seven textures? Asking for a friend.
