Pretty good reatoration of an old brass 'ox tongue' iron. The brass & bronze irons are not rare, but they are not common either. If you want to be completely accurate, make 2 or more of the insert. When a person was ironing a garment, they would have 1 or more spare inserts heating on the stove or fireplace so that when the current insert cooled down they could replace it immediately with a hot one. Also, you need to add a cake of paraffin wax to go with the iron. When the ironing task was finished they would rub the still warm iron across the cake of wax. That helped prevent corrosion from the heat & wet fabric treatments on the sole-plate. (liquid starch or plain water)

Love the look of polish brass nothing quite like it. Poor man's gold. Collected it for quite a few years haven't done much with it Lately. Maybe I'll get inspiration from you. We can only hope. Great job. That that's a piece I'd like to have. Again something so simple that works so well.

Very cool to watch. My grandmother had an old iron like that as a collectible that she let me play with. It was an odd thing as a toy but a lot of fun. Thanks for reminding me of something long past.

A beautiful restoration! And its a nice touch that you left in the coke process that didnt work! Its good to know even experts dont get it 100% right every time!

Думаю, знову хтось здивується в коментарях, що це не знахідка в землі 😅 Було б дивно: викопати посеред лісу вугільну праску, ще й якогось новішого зразка, де вуголь закидають не зверху. Реставрація, як завжди гарна

@@HymenTor це вже «чиста» праска) був шмат заліза або чавуну. Я ж робив вставку, вона так і виглядала. Деякі ще могли мати прорізи. Господар міг мати декілька залізних серцевин, поки прасують однією, інша нагрівалась.

Гвоздь можно было бы и не гнуть, а сделать деревянную ручку. Вещь нужная, можно брать её с собой на природу и гладить без электричества👍

Всі від Євгена очікували реставрацію каски, а він нам підсунув праску 😁👍. Кола латунь не очищує. Колись на заводі водій замочував блоки двигуна в спрайті. На ранок були чистенькі як нові.

Для тих, хто розуміє, то там все ок. 1. Кока-кола не дала результату, 2. Механічна чистка, 3. Виведення залишків міді кислотою, 4. Шліфування. Якби не застосовував кислоти, то довелось знімати значно більший шар металу. Звісно можна без кока-коли, але на каналі, мабуть, вже сотня коментарів назбиралась "спробуй колу". Спробував

А одразу на моторі середньою/м'якою щетиною, шкурення та полірування ні? Там не було таких окислів, що не вийшов такий же результат.
