    I have no snoring issues but suffer from restricted breathing due to the shape of my nose and its tendency to collapse on one side. I tried the Mute device after lots of research and it works great for me. No more ineffective nasal sprays etc.

    I went thru anti snoring devices first before getting help from a doctor. Let me tell you none of them worked at all. Now I'm on my second week of my CPAP journey.

    Many thanks, I been tryin to find out about "tips to control snoring" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you ever come across - Joomestyn Apnea Secret - (search on google )? It is a smashing exclusive guide for getting rid of Sleep Apnea and snoring without the normal expense. Ive heard some super things about it and my mate got excellent results with it.

    I have been using a phone app to listen to my snoring during the cycles. I sleep like a rock and almost never wake up from snoring. This is why I didn't think I snored much. After listening back one morning I was horrified how obnoxious my mouth open snoring was when I was out. haha After reading James Nestor's book "Breath," I started mouth taping at night to stop my mouth from opening, and using nasal strips to widen the nostils. I still snore sometimes, but this trick literally gets me at least 2 or 3 hours of quiet sleep. Nitric oxide from nose breathing is HUGE. I have way more energy in the morning. This does absolutely nothing about a resting tongue falling back, but I've found I can sleep on my side and barely snore now. If it gets bad again, I'll likely go the CPAP route. Weight gain is a major part of it this year. I also noticed when I do water fasting that my snoring goes away. Inflammation is a huge part of it.

    Thanks Jason 🙏 I have the same collapsing nasal issue as you, and I have mild-moderate sleep apnea. Would the Mute dilator be helpful to use with CPAP using nasal mask? As in to open the nostrils more to help with the CPAP therapy? Not sure how safe it would be if the Mute dilator only lasts 30 days, and it’s probably not designed for positive air-pressure, but just a thought.

    I find that my nostrils don't collapse when using PAP therapy. If it is a problem for you even with CPAP I don't see why it wouldn't work with a nasal or full face mask. I wouldn't recommend for a nasal "cradle" mask like the dreamwear, N30, or N30i.

    Did a second sleep study using the Zyppah and had no instances of sleep apnea. The problem for me is that the first one I used the tongue strap broke in the middle of the night so I woke up with half of the strap down my throat. I bought another one but have not used it much because I'm worried about a choking hazard. I stop breathing 22 times per hour so use CPAP. Love your videos - your my go to for accurate info - Thanks

    My sister used it for years. But also not good for you since it weakens your breathing muscles.

    Just wanted to ask, is drooling a sign of mouth breathing? I use my awesome dreamwear nasal mask and I always drool, but I sleep well and get 100% mask fit every time. I checked on OSCAR and OSCAR has given me the green light as well. However, I checked Sleepyhead (back when it was still active) and Sleepyhead always told me I had serious leaks, which didn’t make sense since my machine always told me I got really good leak rates and OSCAR now is also telling me the same thing. Just wanted to ask my favourite sleep tech. You and Pugsy are awesome people!

    Sorry I di not know how to send you a message or if KZread still allows it. I am new to CPAP and currently have a resmed Airsense 10 and I am using a Eson 2 nasal mask. I have had decent results with it but being a stomach sleeper my sleeping postion will sometimes break the seal. Do you think a nasal pillow or other product would work better for a stomach sleeper or do I just have to get use to things? Thank you and happy thanksgiving from Seattle Wa

    Download OSCAR from sleepfiles.com/OSCAR. Look at my playlist about how to interpret results. There are several of them! Then you can use OSCAR to fine tune your pressure or look for problems such as leak.

    What about those devices that hold your tongue forward in your mouth? Super cheap and small. They look like a pacifier when you use them, but they seem like they might work.

  • @Freecpapadvice

    @Freecpapadvice

    Never tried one. From what I hear they cause a good deal of pain at the base of the tongue because it's being pulled on all night. They are cheap though, so it's not all that bad to see if it works for you.

    Excellent video Jason! Great explanations and analysis of questionably effective products. I use bipap and have mouth leaks constantly. I've tried different masks and headgear and the problem persists. Any advice? (Other than loosing weight, and not being such a fat head?) ;). Any updates on your job search/future plans? Thanks buddy!

    Hi Darius, Thanks for the suggestion. Yes, I tried a nasal mask and I couldn't stand it for even one night! I'm a mouth breather at night too. I think my pressure is 24/20 bipap.
