One of the reasons to install LED in the first place is to reduce 12V power consumption. So installing a power resistor with the draw of a bulb kind of defeats the purpose! However mechanical indicator relays do flash faster with LEDs. The proper solution is to install a solid state blinker relay. They are cheap, will outlive you and blink at the same rate regardless of the power draw. They can be bought in most motorcycle shops for 15 EUR, either as 3 or 4 prong types. Both types work fine in your car, sometimes you have to move the spade connectors in the relay socket to match the pin-out of the solid state relay or use the shell and connector from the old relay to make an adapter, but you get a blinker that never fails for the life of the car. NB: I have done this to all my cars, and it is possible to add a small speaker under the dash, if you miss the clicking, now when you have a silent relay. If your solution is the fast and easy way, my suggestion is the technically satisfying way to do this.

some cars dont have relays so you have to use resistors.

When installing the restor place it on a 1/4" aluminum 2by 4" to the meatrl of the car or truck. This spreads the heat and does reduce hit to warm

Very informative video thanks!! I'm not an electrician and correct me if I'm wrong... Granted this will solve the problem but by adding a resistor you'd be consuming the same amount of power as before with an incandescent bulb?

Raico Rosenberg yes it will since the resistor is acting like a halogen bulb
