Was it the same reason why guys like Kerry King or Rob Halford shaved theirs off, (because they were going bald)? Or was it just because he was getting tired of having long hair?

Charlie Benante is incredible! Not only does he play extremely fast, but he is spot on, right in the pocket at all times. The amazing thing is, unlike a lot of metal drummers who just play fast single strokes, he is utilizing a lot of double strokes and other rudiments. What can fool people is how easy he makes it look. The true sign of a master, as opposed to Lars, who seems to agonize over the simplest parts. Of course I'm speaking of the past (late 80s), when I used to go see these bands. As a young drummer, I was blown away by Charlie's speed, dexterity and precision.

I think that Lars did pretty good, you know, he was self taught at that time and he was playing drums only since 1981, when metallica was just formed. James said about his first drumkit this: "It was like 10 colors... ." Boy he didn't know a thing yet he went for it and when you see what he did on Justice, it's crazy. Charlie is cool and consistent while Lars went from 0 to 10 and now he keeps around 6 or 7. He could pull it off, but with how much he and band were touring Inam not surprised that he is kinda sloppy now.

Why don't you listen to me when I try to talkto you Stop thinking of yourself, for just a second fool Shut up, shut up, I don't wanna hear your mouth Your mather made a monster, now get the hell out of my house [BRIDGE:] Can't stand it for another day I ain't gonna live my life this way Cold sweat, my fists are clenching Stomp, stomp, stomp, the idiot convention [PRE-CHORUS:] Which one of these words don't you understand ? Talking to you, is like clapping with one hand [CHORUS:] What is it ? - Caught in a mosh What is it ? - Caught in a mosh What is it ? - Caught in a mosh What is it ? - Caught in a mosh Don't tell me how to do my job There's the door, your name's on the knob You're always in the way, like a beast on my back Were you dropped as a baby, cause brains you lack [REPEAT BRIDGE] [REPEAT PRE-CHORUS] [REPEAT CHORUS] [MOSH PART] Think - before you speak Or suffer, for your words Learn, to give respect that others, give to you AAAAAAAAAAAH, The best you can do [LEAD BREAK] [HARMONY LEAD] Hey Man I'm trying to reason but you don't understand Talking in circles, we'll never get it straight Just you and me in our theatre of hate [REPEAT BRIDGE] [REPEAT PRE-CHORUS] [REPEAT CHORUS]

I saw these guys during their Persistance of Time tour opening for Iron Maiden. I was just completely blown away. They even did I'm the Man. Fuck that was so great live....them doing their thing and just having a hell of a good time. And Iron Maiden kicked ass too. No elaborate stage production. Just a wall of amps, a couple of ramps and backdrops....oh and of course Eddie. It ranks up there as one of the best shows I've been to.

I just want to say to all the young kids watching this video thinking that they can run out and become the next Anthrax,Scott ian,etc...yes these guys make it look easy and very cool, but the blood sweat and yes tears that goes into reaching this level, let alone the drive you gotta have to persevere and reach this level ,like Gene Simmons told the 43 year old that wanted to be famous " Dont ever start playing an instrument or a band to get famous,do it purely because you love it, and if fame is meant to happen, your perseverance will take you there. At almost 40 years old I still watch these videos and think oh I could get a contract any day, then reality kicks in and I realize my passion far exceeds my talent the way it is for most of us egotistical musicians and I realize I'm a dime a dozen bass player that yes I'm fucking awesome one a bass (sorry had to toot my own horn for a second) but I'm no geezer, geddy,or Lemmy, also know and admit your limitations Dont go into an audition for a jazz band only knowing metal chops, innovation is nice but not necessary, and that small genre of music that everyone thinks sucks right now is tomorrow's big scene,PLAY EVERYTHING EVERY STYLE,GENRE,ETC, and when one of you do get a deal remember I gave you this advice \m/
