AJ had the wrong game plan for the fight. He obviously slimmed down to try and match Usyk's movement. He fought an outboxer at the center of the ring like an idiot instead of applying pressure and imposing his size. Heck, even Tyson Fury knew how to use his size advantage over Wilder. If there's a rematch, first thing AJ should do is find a new trainer. I think the offensive-oriented Roach would be a good fit for him.

If your opponent has an advantage in one aspect of his game, you adjust to negate what he’s finding success with. If he’s throwing a lot of feints and you have the reach advantage; you start pumping your jab so he doesn’t have as many opportunities to feint and throw you off. You double up, throw combinations and the occasional lead straight right. What you don’t do is stand there flat-footed, throw one jab at a time, let your opponent get three or four punch combos on you while he dances around you while you cover up and wait for him to stop. I’m not saying that Usyk isn’t a good fighter, I’m just saying Joshua didn’t fight a smart fight and he severely underestimated his opponent. He was doubling up on the jab, if you paid any attention to the fight you would have seen that Usyk was countering the jabs. Throw combinations at thin air? You need to set up shots, Usyk is the best technical boxer on the planet and you aren't going to hurt him just throwing mindless combinations, you need to set them up. AJ can do that of course, maybe he lands a hail mary and KOs Usyk but the more likely outcome is that Joshua gasses out by round 6 after loading up on shots and Usyk takes him out in the late rounds. AJ fought a smart fight but people only make excuses that AJ was shit, if Usyk was 10% worse than he was, the fight would have probably been a draw and you'd be saying how fucking excellent Joshua is managing to get a draw by boxing with a boxer. Instead you should highlight how USYK neutralised AJs gameplan. I'm sick of hearing the fucking excuses for AJ, put some respect on Usyk's name. Usyk absolutely schooled AJ, the rematch will be the same even if AJ changes coaches and tactics coming in heavier and looking to knock Usyk out will just mean AJ gasses out and Usyk can counter punch and KO him, the difference in skill is staggering, AJ does wonderfully against the 38-41 yr old fighters and even then he nearly got KO'd by a past his prime 41 yr old Wlad. 2 losses in 4 fights shows that AJ is a manufactured fighter does great against old men but that's it.

Joshua's footwork is an issue, he is flat on his feet and loses his stance, a couple of the hits that sent him backwards were a combination of a well placed shot by Usyk and Joshua not having his feet right. Usyk's stance and mobility were excellent examples of a boxing purist.

His footwork and jab is terrible. He'd be devastating if this wasn't the case. If he worked with someone like Teddy Atlas and took some time to develop better fundamentals, he'd have a chance against Usyk. Maybe. ;p

this isnt new when a fighter suddenly fought someone who has an equal or a better footwork and active hand and body movement, joshua hasnt fought much of this kind of fighter, so there ao much going on in the ring his brain is unable to process much ending with poor descision making, slow reaction and inability to be aggresive and unable dictate build his own tempo and rythm. In short, joshua was force to dance a routine that usyk had prepared

The way usyk cut angles reminds me of pacquiao the footwork is like lomachenko well if he will add a bit of tyson movement with the pic a boo style he will be undisputed. Or changing his style from one half of the match the other to save his energy will be helpful specially when he starts aging. I really like usyk humble guy and very skilled.
