The first knockdown you could see the look of confusion on his face like he didn't understand how someone can do that to him. Confidence is a dangerous thing and those that think of themselves as impenetrable become complacent. Ngannou banked on his chin too much and totally overlooked AJ's power because thought he could just walk through him. AJ has never been knocked out in his whole career and has only suffered the one stoppage after his really bad concussion against Ruiz, and to his credit still got up 4 times to have the ref call it off.

I know everyone will credit Ben Davidson and rightly so, but Derrick James deserves credit too. Joshua's pacing, timing and shot selection is so much better now since the Usyk rematch. Joshua said after that loss he's heavy and struggles doing 12 rounds. Since James, he does a lot better at conserving his energy in rounds and doesn't get reckless. Also, when he gets into an exchange he moves off the line and immediately takes centre ring again. A lot of the Derrick James fighters like Spence, Charlo and Martin did that. Before AJ would get into an exchange put his guard high and get on his bike. Ben Davidson has been able to put the old and new AJ together, he really has a monster on his hands right now.

A lot of MMA guys got carried away with Francis boxing ability after one fight with a lack lustre Fury who in my opinion totally underestimated him, and didn’t give him the respect he was due. Fury let the boxing community down by not taking the matter in hand seriously. This crossover thing is a farce, MMA fighters can’t box and boxers can’t fight in the octagon, it has to stop and each stay in their lane. Congratulations to AJ he was phenomenal.

I think Francis Ngannou did great for a two time boxer. Knocked Fury down regardless of excuses, went the distance every round and was not knocked down. Then faced AJ in his prime and got humbled. Ngannou is a great fighter. He's made his money and learned lessons along the way. I also like that rather than ducking any fights. Ngannou showed up. That takes heart coming in as an underdog. I look forward to Ngannou's next chapter in fighting.

I appreciate that you've always consistently supported Ngannou, Brian. Some people are now saying that they feel fooled/conned by Ngannou, they were sold a dream and expected him to win. Ngannou didn't fool or con anyone. All he did was put on the best boxing debut of all time against the Heavyweight Champ, and then people drew their own conclusions from there. However, they failed to realise that heavyweight boxing can be very unpredictable, nevermind when one of the guys specialises in MMA and the other in boxing. Ngannou didn't con anyone.

Fury beats the brakes off Joshua. He literally didnt prepare for Francis and had no boxing tape to study on him. Joshua got to see that Francis can box so took him seriously and got to study the Francis vs Fury fight so actually knew what to expect. Apples to oranges. Plus styles make fights too.

AJ's commitment to self-improvement, characterized by his quiet diligence, sets him apart from others. Despite his numerous victories, he remains grounded and humble, refraining from exaggeration. His graciousness extends even to his opponents, whom he encourages and learns from, particularly in moments of defeat.
