Anthony Davis - Defensive Dynamo
Спорт
Anthony Davis, all around freak of nature, is just a force. There’s no other way to describe him. Injuries to both himself and his teammates have derailed this season, a season that began with lofty expectations, but that doesn’t take away from just how scary this guy is. At 23 years of age, he’s already garnered all-NBA first team honors, been a 3 time All-Star, and has twice led the league in blocks. Not to mention a myriad of collegiate awards, an NCAA championship (and a NCAA Final Four Most Outstanding Player nod), and two Gold medals for USA Basketball (the 2012 Olympics and the 2014 World Cup).
The Brow’s season is already over, but it was still fun to watch him play defense on most nights. Long arms, freakish hops (and a quick second jump), agile footwork, and defensive instincts that are growing by the day, AD can get to the ball even if you don’t see him in your line of sight. He beats on the basketball like the Detroit Pistons used to body up Jordan, but most of the time, he’s got the presence of mind to keep the ball inbounds. In fact, what I like about a few of these clips is that he’s willing to lay out in order to save the ball.
What’s interesting about AD is his ability to change how an offense attacks his team. Up until this year, he predominantly played power forward, meaning that teams would place a stretch 4 there so he would be away from the basket. That being said, he still managed to rotate over and offer rim protection. He’s always ready to help, and is obviously an elite rim protector. The Davis experiment at Center is becoming more and more potent, mostly because he’s getting stronger (and April of 2014, he weighed around 225, his listed weight in April of 2016 is 250+), but also because the league is trending towards small ball, so he doesn’t have to bang with bigs that can overpower him as often. Whatever position he plays, the Chicago native is an elite defender, and will continue to be a joy to watch for years to come.

His physical gifts are impressive but he has impeccable timing, that's more based upon smart defensive instincts. AD is going to be a dynamic force in the league for a long time.

He is just long
he gets so many blocks on the perimeter because so many guards underestimate his long arms and quickness and try to iso him. when will they learn.

True. He wingspan is such that he doesn't need to jump high at all to get fingertips on your shot. His timing is impeccable as well; you can tell he's spent a lot of time learning when to jump instead of relying on his physical attributes. I am also impressed by how infrequently he fouls guys when meeting them at the rim. I expect multiple DPOY awards down the road.

Ninja Channel What I love most about him as a defender, is how he often suffocates area & distance on his matchup... And stays alert until the play is headed back up the floor. Sibce his sophomore year, he's become may favorite player to watch.

Keary Holsey It is not entirely the guards' fault, AD is that good you have to admit.
Channel is so underrated

I keep saying his vids are as good as GDs and Dawkins, and better when you're searching for a specific skillset of a specific player.
Now with the Lakers = TWIN Shot-blockers for the 1st Unit: Anthony Davis JaVale McGee
2019 MVP already calling it. He was nominated for MVP and Defensive player of the year in 2018. He’s gonna be a monster.
