Jimmy Butler, the 2014-15 Most Improved Player, is obviously one of the game’s great defenders. He’s also an all-star and last year, made in onto the All-Defensive second team. It’s nothing controversial to say that he’ll most likely be a mainstay on All-Defensive teams for the foreseeable future, so with that in mind, I made this video.
He has the savvy to always have a hand up against the trickiest scorers in the game (you’ll see Kobe & Harden routinely throughout). He also has the strength and skill to hold off and contain the bigger, more powerful guys (like LeBron & Melo).
Defense isn’t just about steals and blocks, so you’ll see a few different things here. Frustrating opponents with foot speed and anticipating with active hands, he’ll blow up pick and rolls, or send his man one way only to remarkably beat him to that same spot. You’ll see jumping in passing lanes, but you’ll also just see him holding his ground a lot; In one, he even holds Melo off with one arm while grabbing the rebound with the other. His intelligence shines through when he avoids getting screened and when he forced ball handlers into help. His relentlessness, as most evidenced by the 39 minutes per game during the season (and the 44 in the playoffs) and yet still managing to defend HARD every minute he’s out there, will continue to make him fun to watch for years to come.

As someone that plays a very similar style to him, I'm a huge fan of what he does. The way he anticipates passes and jumps passing lanes is amazing and so is how quickly he closes down shooters. I think the most impressive thing about him though is his ability to strip the ball cleanly off guys driving to the basket, that takes so much concentration and timing to do it without fouling but he's probably the best in the league at it.

i think what makes butler such an elite defender is cause he uses hes body unlike other defenders who use their hands and feet he likes to body offensive players and maybe the only player i saw body lebron unlike other lebron defenders his body physic is incredible

Jimmy Butler has endless stamina. Realistically I could see him competing well in marathons if he was to train for a couple of years and learn each discipline. People talk about Bron and Dwight as physical athletes but Jimmy is not far from them honestly, he has a professional boxers body.
A nice change to see defensive plays not end in a stat - steal or a block. Just tough, hustle plays and lots of hard contests on the shot. Love it!!!
Man if he doesn't get injured, he's gonna be an all-star almost every year of his career

He's doing pretty good so far wish he stayed with Philly cause that would have been the best career move making a big 3 with embiid and Simmons as a bulls fan I did want to see him there making a championship run but he's doing alright in Miami

Butler no contest. Shumpert is a OK defender and thats literally his only saving grace. He takes bad shots, missed good ones and fouls too much for my tastes on D. Jimmy meanwhile is a contender for defensive player of the year for the 2016-17 season. Lets not forget a much better player on offense in nearly every regard.

+VoxEOD Actually no because those sources you want him to mention every video are just uploading what the nba uploads and they don't credit the nbA evert video because it's in the link already and ppl get annoyed seeing long intros and outros when they are unnecessary. It's clear on the screen who the uploaded was if you're looking for it you'll find it
