I am almost 92 years old and I have been enjoying you beautiful people ever since you left the police force in Seattle and set out to find a place just like you found to make the future for you and your family more like what I used to call normal. That was back in the 1950’s. That was when Father knows best was a lot more than a TV show. I am not only thoroughly entertained by your family, your blog but I appreciate the fact that you are willing to share it with me!!! Frankly speaking, I hope you make tons of money so you can go to Italy and Greece and take your family there. You guys ROCK!!! M

Speaking about the parenting, our former pastor use to dedicate newborns like most churchs. But, when he would, he would give them a gift of two vases. One that is empty and one that has 940 marbles. Each week they are alive, you transfer one marble to the empty vase. He reminds them that you have 940 weeks to imprint on them until they turn 18 years old. It creates such a profound image.

My immediate response when you mentioned people getting ugly about how you got your puppy really pushed my buttons. You are definitely nicer than me because I would have been ugly back. No one else is responsible for the choices you make, so to me it is none of their business what or why you make those choices. As an older adult, I do not really understand the concept that others 'have the right' to know or expect personal questions to be answered. I love that both of you are such strong adults, well grounded in who and what you believe that you are able to let it run off you. I 100% agree that your children are with you for such a short period of time, so spending that time with them is so important. You guys are inspiring and really are setting great examples for others who need to see this that making family first is not wrong

I agree 100%. I have raised and trained (protection training as well) German Shepherds for over 45 years now. As much as I support rescue for dogs, cats, etc, I would not rescue a German Shepherd for many of the same reasons Jeremy and Melissa said. I also live on a very rural acreage, and I NEED to know I can leave my dogs home and know all the other animals and people will be safe. If you rescue say a 4-year-old German Shepherd who unknowingly was abused or aggressive, you are putting your family at unnecessary risk. German Shepherds, much like Rotties and Pitbulls can be extremely aggressive, especially if they have been mistreated by previous owners. I always get my GSDs as pups, so they can be raised in my family, with our own rules, training, and boundaries. For those that attacked this wonderful couple for wanting to get a pup, well, I`ll just say "screw them".

I just want to say Public school teaches kids it is ok to be bullied and teaches bullies that they can get away with it. My granddaughter was homeschooled from 5th grade on. At 17 she got her first job at a large grocery store chain. During her first year she was promoted and received 3 raises. Then a bully her age started calling her some horrendous names and harassing her. She found out he was targeting a certain group of women and young girls like herself. Nobody had reported him so she did. He was written up but again bullies are taught they are going to get away with it so he continued. He was then fired. My granddaughter had just arrived for work and on his way out he threatened her life. Still knowing not to provoke him and how to handle it she backed away and did not confront him and then once again told her managers what had just happened. The threat he made was serious enough that they called the police. The police escorted all the closers from the store to their car that night and have remained a strong presence at the store. They also went to speak to him and his parents at his home. If my granddaughter had gone to public school she would have become used to being bullied and not done anything. Instead she knew how to handle the situation and her coworkers were grateful for her help in getting rid of him. My husband and I are both prior military and have constantly taught our children and grandchildren how to react in certain situations and to always stay vigilant. Public school teaches kids to sit and wait for someone to tell them what to do. Being homeschooled my granddaughter had learned how to take control of a situation.

One is a doctor, one owns his own guitar making business and the other is a Librarian and Preacher's wife but I wish I could go back. Not because I have any regrets but because it was such a joyous time. :)

When I get asked how my husband and I have been married as long as we have I say one word - forgiveness. No marriage is perfect, but if we can accept we're going to mess up and forgive one another and keep going then there's a good chance you're going to make your marriage work. My husband and I married when I was a week over 16 and he was 18. We'll be celebrating 51 years of marriage this summer!!

@@lacuna_matata_9261 the reality is that they CREATED their opportunity. They lived on one income, drove cash/paid for vehicles, saved/did side hustles, etc. ALL with the end game in mind. They WORKED TOGETHER to build momentum as quickly as possible and it still took 10+ years to accomplish the ability to make a change. They also built their vacation time around traveling to Idaho to look for land - did it over 2 or 3 years before the door opened for this 20 acres - so persevering, patient, steadfast in their vision/goals, and being willing to sacrifice in the relatively short term to achieve the long term goal...and if you go back and see their earliest videos, Jeremy wasn't a huge fan of them because they didn't make any money off of it for a very long time. But because Melissa was consistent in generating content by the time they reached Idaho and had a stunning location with huge goals - her work efforts had built a good base in the algorithms to make the jump to larger audiences, sponsors, etc. and before they knew it, Jeremy's lost income as a police officer had been replaced with KZread/sponsor/merch sales, etc.

@@user-kz8mq8co8i negative people are just that negative ... whether its from jealousy, envy, bitterness from seeing other people doing better than they are ... the bottom line is no matter how bad your childhood was it is not an excuse to be a bad adult .... you can change your life, it may be difficult but you can become a positive person. Social media has sadly become a platform for bullying & many negative comments I have seen on various channels is a form of bullying that those people would probably not say face to face.

Dr. Wayne Dyer had a quote he used to present, "What you think of me is none of my business." It has to do with owning your own self value rather than making it dependent upon what others think of you. It may sound elitist, but it really isn't, it is more about appreciating your own uniqueness, and not degrading it by conforming to what others think about you and what you do. That being said, it is always appreciated when others express acceptance, love and gratitude because those are life supporting and engender a greater sense of community. These days with so many factions trying to create divisiveness, it is essential to be the best version of yourself you can be and build common unity (community) with those of like mind and spirit. Out of that long blurb, "be the best version of yourself" is the most important endeavor anyone can pursue. Thank you for what you do. It is thoughtful and appreciated by many.

Your answers always represent your desire to put family first and I respect that.

Your children are respectful. That is all anyone can ask for. In today's world, it's a lot for any family. Parents have treat others the way they want to be treated.that a good guide line.your children are great. And I think matter where children grow up ,it to the mom, and dads to teach the children Some are great ,and others not .we all do our best.

Teamwork!! 💖💖 Last week, on a post about marriage, relationships and roles, I took a screenshot of a husband's comment, "I cook as good as my wife. We both cook and clean. Teamwork makes the Dream Work." Teamwork... That's you two, Melissa and Jeremy. You're definitely making your dream work. 🥰💞🥰

I appreciate how you do your videos. The inclusion of your kids and animals that you share is exactly right. I enjoy those areas where you do include the kids but just knowing you are protective of your kids is so needed today. Your building skills amazes me.

I feel absolutely honored to be able to view your progress. I was viewing before the lockdown and there are very many parallels we both share. Keep it real and protect your "traditional" family values as that is being lost and mocked. Sure hope I am able to run into you both someday. God bless!

My family has watched your GSL channel for several years. This is my first time watching the podcast and I really appreciate your honest answers . You really touched a cord! Our kiddos are close to graduating, and I feel EXACTLY how Melissa described the yearning for the early years when my kids were little. You just spoke right to my heart, and I wanted to thank you both! Love your channels!!😊

I've been a fan (suscribed 😁) since the early days in Washington. You have always inspired me with your passion for life, personal characters, how you love and interact with your children and your work ethic. Whatever you decide to do with your videos, podcast, etc., I will still watch because I know the content of it. P.s. I believe every couple should do a build or remodel together. If they make it through, they can handle pretty much whatever life throws at them. 😄

Really enjoyed you tackling these questions, or rather enjoyed your answers and discussions. Many are questions we all need to look at in our own lives! Others I had to think it was ridiculous you felt had to be answered yet you are open and honest enough to go for it! You are living part of your life in the public domain so I guess it goes along with that. The up side for me is I thoroughly enjoy both your channels! I enjoy the content, the life you have and are creating for your family and the down to earth people you are! I’m delighted and impressed you planned and worked hard for your dreams. You inspire many. Thank you!❤

I agree that you should never agree to meet a bunch of subs, as you never know who might have issues that could become an issue for you. No need to share your financial info with us, that is your personal business...but interesting to hear how KZread works and pays. As for replies, you often love my comments and I am grateful to know you read them, but to take the time to reply to everyone would be impossible. Thanks for all the candor in this video. I've watched your build videos since the beginning with an enormous amount of respect, interest and a fair bit of envy. I would love to have designed and built a home but being British (reserved) and with a very secure well paid job and stable family, it always seemed to be a risk too much. Right now, in my retirement, I have a wonderful life with my teacher wife, living in Istanbul. As we see it, our life is the one we chose. It was not forced upon us and neither have we been blessed by anyone or anything. We love it and love sharing yours.

So much here! And it was all great. I have 5 kids and we homeschool them as well and they behave the same, like little adults. People are always surprised when we go places and they behave as well and often make comments on them. I love it and remind them all of the time that it makes me proud of them. Homeschooling has given us the opportunity to raise them how we choose and not how society deems acceptable, so I agree with you guys on every aspect of parenting. And you're right, there wouldn't be any happiness if they weren't safe and healthy. Parenting is a bitter sweet thing. 😊
