John have you listened to the 1980s BBC Radio 4 adaptation of The Lord of the Rings? If so what do you think of it (both from a canon/adaptation point of view and whether you enjoyed it)? The music is particularly excellent imo

I have, but it has been far too long for me to offer any useful critique. As I'm in the process of reacting to and revisiting every adaptation I can, I'll try to do a video on it at some point.

@@John-Sierra That would be great to watch - interested to hear your thoughts. Strangely it is my go-to version of Lord of the Rings since I'm an extremely slow reader of fiction and love audio dramatisations. It was also how I was introduced to the story when my parents got me the cassette tapes of the 80s BBC Radio 4 adaption of LotR and 60s Radio 4 adaptation of the Hobbit for Christmas as a child. I love that Frodo in the adaptation is played by Ian Holm, who came to play Bilbo in Peter Jackson's adaptations.
