My boyfriend and I went to get sushi then watched a movie and after the movie we got some ice cream and walked at the park. This was on a Saturday so we met up around lunch time and ended up spending the whole afternoon together. Been together for 3 years now and we both enjoy watching wongfu videos. ❤️❤️❤️

(TLDR at the bottom) for the S.O. & the best friend thing, when I was in a relationship & wanted my SO & my friend(s) to get along, I tried my best to find things that they would both like, or try to engage all of us in a conversation. my SO is actually the one that was nervous on meeting new people, but I tried to help ease him & my friends, whether it’d be one on one, or in a group setting. when i asked both parties how they felt, they both felt like i was a good bridge between them, & we all became good friends together. TL;DR / point is: i think whichever case you’re in (you / the SO / the friend) must make an effort in the relationship between the people(s) involved. it’s a bit scary at first, & you don’t have to all be best friends, but as long as you can have a friendly conversation & be amicable, then i think you’re in a good place. make it enjoyable for everyone! make the most of what you can with what you have! xx

lol I love you guys but the advice given for the question about the couple who ran out of things to talk about was kind of terrible XD To be fair, I had the same question all the time when I was dating my now-husband. But what I've learned over the last 4 years is... I think what it comes down to, whether it's individually or together, you have to find joy in discovery. Even if you think you know all there is to know about each other, the changes that life brings two people continue to shape who we are. So there may be periods of plateau but it doesn't mean it'll stay that way forever. Jenn made a good point about investing in yourself and your own interests, I think that's super important. But that doesn't mean you have to ditch your relationship to do that! The other night, my husband and I had a ton of fun at an arcade we've never been to before... it's not like we'd never been to one together or that it was a super unique experience. But we just had fun being able to discover a new place. We observed others and were able to ask questions to each other, that maybe we knew the answer to before, but gave each other the opportunity to see if their answers had changed at all, since new perspectives can sometimes influence those answers... anyways. That's all I wanted to say. Sometimes it's correct that you may just not jive any more, but I thjnk people give up on their relationships more than they fight for them, so i hope those yung'ins out there read this and realize... relationships take a lot of work, and are hard, but they're worth fighting for.

I don't agree with the mentality of 'just be yourself'. If you know you're lacking in some areas you need to find ways to improve and better yourself. The advice of just being yourself only works if you're already somewhat confident and knows enough social norms to hand yourself. If you know you lack communication skills make that an honest area and tell them straight up. The best thing a person can do is knowing themselves and trying to improve themselves. We all got strengths and weaknesses, rather than just acknowledging it, do something about it.

Totally. "Just be yourself," applies to your life goals, ideals, boundaries, and your personal code of conduct. Don't ever compromise what you value. What's missing is the idea of making yourself "more attractive." That doesn't mean solely physical attraction. Romance isn't something to be chased after; that's what drives people mad. It is much easier when you are attracting it, by becoming a better person. By making the most of what life has to offer. Better in health. Better in hygiene. Better in career. Better in style and fashion sense. Better in humor. Better in self-esteem and confidence. If you are more valuable as a person, you have a better, larger pool of people to choose from once they're attracted into your life. One's odds get very low, if their idea of "being themselves" is staying as a shut-in hikikomori with cystic acne, who hasn't done laundry in 6 months, while living off of flaming hot cheetos and diet Coke.
