Answering YOUR Pole Questions

(Originally uploaded November 11, 2021)
You asked, and I, a pole dancer, answered! How long does it take to invert? How do you stay on the pole when your hands are sweaty? What moves are considered beginner pole moves and what do newbies need to know to get started? What type of pole do I have? Where's my mat from? Why shouldn't I find inspiration on Instagram? All of this and MORE, here!

Hi friends! Since I originally made this video, a few things have changed: 1) I'm now an intermediate pole dancer, and as such, my training sessions have gotten longer and more frequent. I try to train 3 times a week for an hour (that time includes a long warmup!). 2) GRRRIP is now readily available on Amazon. 3) The mat seems to be completely out of stock forever, so I put a different suggestion in the description box. 4) The wonderful Poletato Jem just uploaded a video with similar tips for beginners, which is also linked in the box!

I would absolutely love if you could do a video that explains what your conditioning sessions involve, whether it's a quick overview or an in-depth 'condition with me'!

Honestly with inversions: THEYRE HARD. and like Dr Emily Rosch says you don’t have to invert to be a great dancer. Progress isn’t linear, as you said. Some days I have an invert and some days my body is like “nah girl”. So I just condition instead. I remember getting SO MAD cos I could do a move at the studio but couldn’t do it at home. Every day is different and that’s okay too.

What?! I can’t believe the instructor told you that unless you’re dying you need to keep going on with everyone else. 😵🤯 I’m not sure if that’s part of why you stopped taking in person classes but if so I can understand! I love how my studio encourages ppl to take as many breaks as we need and reminds us to drink water :) Love your channel! I just started my first level 3 class today I think it is intermediate, with upside down stufffff yaaaaaa)

That is definitely why I never returned to that studio :P Enjoy the upside down stuff! It's chaotic when you first start!!

My routine seems wild now sometimes I go 5-6 days a week and do like a 6-8 hour session. Depression does get in the way so I’ll drop off for a few weeks and then break back into my routine by doing 3-5 days and doing 1-3 hour session😂 And I’m still only an average dancer like I’m not progressing 💀😂 so my routine just seems wild 😂 I should try and switch it up, been trying to progress for 3 years

It sounds to me like you're way overtraining yourself!! A training session that long is enough to drain you for a few days, but if you're doing several of those back to back to back, I don't think your muscles have enough time to recover!
