    great information. I have been wondering how the clay bracelets were made. I have never used memory wire before. I like that you explained the tools needed to work with it. My extruder didn't come with a core plate. :(

  • @Mimismarketva

    Thanks! The corer did not come with the extruder. It is sold separately by Makins. I included a link where you can find them from The Clay Factory but you can probably find them on Amazon. There are 2 sets of 3 corers. You want the smallest set for the memory wire bracelets. They are called Makins Core Extruder Adapters.

    Gayle, your information and overall video was great ! However, let me recommend that you remove the clutter from your work top so people can see better what you are doing. And especially your work surface might be easier to see if it was completely white rather than all the little dots all over the place - it really confuses the issue. Thank you so much for sharing your expertise on this technique.

    Thanks for your comment. I'm sorry you have a difficult time viewing my videos. I would like to offer some explanation. This was one of my early videos. I've made some changes since then. My work space is only about 12" x 12" so I don't have much space to put things. I'm addressing that right now by re-doing my craft room. Hopefully that will improve. The work surface I was using was a glass gridded surface with a white non-slip pad under it. I have since added a white tile over the top so it would be easier to see but that causes a glare because of the only lighting I have available so you may not like that either. As I learn more about making videos (it's not as easy as it looks) I hope to continue to make improvements.

    Hi Gayle, it’s taken me a while to ask this question and I hope you still monitor questions from this video... How did you bake that long green polymer clay coil to be slinky-like without having the memory wire through it while baking? I understand the part about baking it in a flat coil, but those seemed much shorter than that long deep green coil that you cut into pieces to demonstrate making the actual bracelet. Let me also take the time to thank you for all the hard work you put into sharing your talent, expertise, and creativity with us! Making these videos is much more complicated than it looks; that’s why I haven’t done them myself! I’m so grateful for your sharing, please know that! 😁🥰✨

    Thanks for watching my video! This is one of those "oldie but goodie" videos I did when I first started making tutorial videos! To answer your question, I think I wrapped my extruded clay around a soda can in order to create a curve. Since Premo and Kato clays are flexible when baked, as long as the shape is close to what you want in the end you are fine. A soda can gives the general curved shape. Thanks for your encouragement. Making the video is the easy part. It's the editing and uploading and downloading that takes so much time. You ought to give it a try!

    Hey Gayle! Wow, love this idea! You are the first person I have seen do this. I guess I never realized clay can be that flexible. Are those 2 brands the only ones that are flexible enough for the memory wire? Will Sculpey work as well? I make jewelry and this would be another unique way of creating some amazing pieces...how fun is this!! I just happen to come across your channel and so glad I did! ; ) Big ((Hugs)) and Love from Texas!! xo : )

  • @Mimismarketva

    I don't think Sculpey will work. Sculpey is brittle when baked and will not bend with the wire without breaking.

    Will the Makins core adapter fit my walnut hollow extruder ?

  • @Mimismarketva
    @Mimismarketva8 жыл бұрын

    No - I don't think that will work. The clay would end up being too blended. However, Sculpey has a great easy tutorial on how to make a candy cane. Here is the link: www.sculpey.com/easy-candy-canes/

    Thanks! I believe I put a link to one place to get the core adapters in the description under my video. I think it was the Clay Factory. They are also available on Amazon. Just Google Makin's Core Adapter and you'll get many sources. They come in sets of 3 and there are 2 sets available. I use the small set (1mm, 2mm, 3mm). Hope this helps.

  • @Mimismarketva

    @Mimismarketva

    6 жыл бұрын

    Thanks. These particular bracelets are kinda small - maybe kid or youth size. I would probably sell these for $8 each. I would sell the adult size for $12 because I would use a larger clay extrusion and larger crystals.

    If I wanted to use red white clay and twist it like a candy cane. Could I put it in the extruder to achieve the hollow hole and make peppermint looking beads? Or do you have another idea?? If you have any thoughts that would be great!

  • @kenandtab9727

    @kenandtab9727

    Have you tried it yet? I'd think if you make a log of clay that is half white and half red, it would come out that way and then just twist the extruded clay to get the candy cane look. I may even need to try it...

    Gayle I think you misunderstood or I wasn't clear, the adaptor you put in the drill to power your extruder. I hope I'm asking correctly.

  • @Mimismarketva

    @Mimismarketva

    Oh! I'm sorry. I did misunderstand. That adapter came with my Lucy Clay Extruder. It's made to fit the end of the extruder so I don't think it would work with any others. Cynthia Tinapple has created an adapter that will fit the Makin's Extruder. Here is the link to that. Hope this helps. www.polyclayplay.com/Cart/brands/Cynthia-Tinapple.html
