I can't believe Dr Facilier is an honorable mention. He has evil spirits for friends. He was going to give the souls of all the people of New Orleans basically to the devil, he has a cool shadow, and Friends on the other side is one of the best Disney Villain songs of all time. Even his death was epic and memorable.

They could make this list as many times as they want. Disney just makes awesome villains. They're so much more interesting and diverse than the cookie cutter protagonists. Nearly every Disney animated film has a fantastic villain, so I don't know if it's possible to make a bad list. I'd tried to come up with my own top ten, and I ended up with like 23 right off the top of my head that I loved.

King Candy (AKA Turbo) from "Wreck-It Ralph" is a Disney villain that I think could have been on the list for sure. :D

Um, if you consider the people of wonderland to be actual citizens, she is worse than all the others. Although killing cards seems ridiculous, the action is not. She doesn't hesitate to kill anyone who pisses her off. Sure, the other villains were evil, but they probably didn't kill as many people as the queen did. Alice would have "died" if the king didn't intervene or if she wasn't dreaming. Seriously, killing your citizens just because of a small fault is evil.

I would be with her like standing on a rope. one wrong word and off with my head!

Shan Yu is my favorite for a number of reasons. 1. He's confidant. In fact, that's the reason why he invaded China, in the first place: to prove the superiority of the Huns to the alleged forces of China. He's so confident he doesn't even try to be manipulative or treacherous, like most villains. He's also intimidatingly charismatic. "By building his wall he challenged my strength. Well, I'm here to play his game." he says with a smile on his face as he unsheathes his sword. 2. Most villains employ few or work on their own. And they are so physically weak. But he is strong and skilled in combat. And he leads an entire army, capable of living off the land as they roam and successfully overcoming any settlement they invade. 3. He has megalomania, a violent nature and a thirst for blood, which are what I look for in a villain. I prefer villains like, in order from least favorite to most favorite, the Horned King, Baron Ruber, Drago Bludvist, Sauron, Captain Nathaniel Flint and Shan Yu. They're strong. They command armies. Their megalomania motivates them to conquer whole kingdoms. And they take what they want.:-) I know the Horned King did not appear to be physically fit, but he did have an army. And I know Captain Flint was a pirate and not a conqueror, but he was violent and apparently bold. Who agrees with me?

Kevin Lane I agree with you. His goal is so simple, yet it easily rises above the rest. So many villains want to rule the land, to have as much wealth as possible, or to gain ultimate power, but not Shan Yu. He doesn't care about wealth or becoming emperor, and he's not seeking out a way to become even more powerful. His only desire is to prove how powerful he and his people are.

Facilier should of been number one on this list. He uses evil voodoo, tricks people to get what he wants, has demon shadows as minions, and let's not forget his shadow friend in the background. I feel like Shaun Yu should be higher on the list, at least on par with the Horned King and Shere Khan, because unlike many of the other villains who only ruin the lives of certain individuals, Shaun Yu will kill anyone, massacre entire villages and even joke about it occasionally. He considers war, death, and destruction as a game in order to gain power and make his most powerful enemies submit to his will and if they won't do it willingly he has no problem hacking them to pieces. And if that weren't enough he also captured and held the Emperor hostage with just a handful of men, making him a master strategist and tactician. Not to mention the guy survived being buried in an avalanche, broke open a set of locked heavy doors with just his fists, and chopped down the pillars in the Emperor's palace like they were nothing. The guy was a Juggernaut.

Rider4ZMusicVideos I feel like Shaun Yu was neither someone you love to hate or generally dislike. To me he was just plan scary. I guess that's part of why I hold him in such high regard, because unlike some of the other Disney villains on this list and the other, he was one of the villains who I actually found really menacing. I see him not so much one dimensional as underused. In the video they describe him as an enigma within a riddle and I think given his behavior and opinions that is a good description which makes him all the more interesting. The problem is he doesn't have that many scenes which is why I think he may come off as underdeveloped at times.

He's definitely my favorite villain from Disney, and one of my favorite from all animated films (on par with Thrax), and I don't think he's boring at all. In fact the whole sarcastic/comical/sly villain thing gets really old (hook, hades, scar, yzma) Ursula is good but she just comes off as a power-hungry cunt who doesn't do anything in the film besides temporarily steal ariel's voice (although the part where she transforms people into little crabs is cool) and hans, well does pretty much jack shit aside from "break anna's heart" and attempt to kill elsa. Shan Yu was the only motherfucker to really get stuff done, and he was extremely badass when doing it. I think he accomplished more than any other villain (sure Scar killed his brother, well thats it). He's ruthless, cruel, and overall probably the scariest villain out there. TL;DR Shan Yu fucks shit up compared to other pussy villains

Shaun Yu was awesome, I have to pick The Horned King as my favorite though. I like villains that are dark, and an undead army, now THAT is my thing.

The evil stepmother from Cinderella is a massive bitch. She probably isn't considered one of the most scariest Disney villains, but she's definitely one of the most hateful in my opinion. She was also voiced by the same actress who voiced Maleficent. Both characters are actually very similar, not only do they have the same chilling voice but they even have the same sharp facial features. They also both have a touch of class and sophistication to them. The stepmother may not be as scary as Maleficent or some of the other villains in the sense that she has evil powers, but she is someone you could easily hate and she is intimidating. To be honest, I'd say most people are in awe of Disney villains rather than hateful of them. Maleficent is one of the best villains in my opinion, she's somebody that you could fear AND admire.

Chernabog is awesome, foreboding and all, but he doesn't do much in the department of evil deeds. Still, Night on Bald Mountain is still my favorite Fantasia sequence.

Well, now. I see you submitted this on my 24th birthday. Disney was one person I grew up with, but another was Dr. Seuss. Funny that me and him have our birthdays on March 2nd. Maybe a top ten with Dr. Seuss characters, perhaps, heroes and villains? I know his universe may be much smaller than Disney's, but he's still one heck of an interesting icon.

The Horned King isn't spooky, he's bloody terryifing!

The Black Cauldron is my favorite Disney movie and I'm so glad the Horned King finally got some props. If you haven't seen it you should. It was very underrated. It has exceptionally creepy music, they even used a Theremin, and brilliant hand animation. It gave me nightmares as a child, and still creeps me out today.

Prince Hans - Frozen Possibly the best done sociopath in Disney history, and one that strikes a chord with many people who have been in that situation.

Frollo was on their first list. He came in at #4. Personally, I think he should have been #1, but that's just me. What makes him such a scary villain is how human he is. He isn't an anthropomorphic animal or supernatural being, he doesn't use magic, and his motive isn't to get power or take over the world. Instead, he's a man who uses faith to justify doing terrible things, whether that's killing an entire ethnic group, imprisoning a man from infancy and teaching him to hate himself, or blaming a young woman for his own attraction to her. Frollo could really exist and that, again, is what makes him so scary. And yet, as complex as Disney made their version of him, he's even more human and sympathetic in the book. In the book, he's a genuinely nice guy who adopts baby Quasimodo out of pity after he's left in the "foundling box" at Notre Dame. It's not until he sees Esmeralda that he becomes aware of his own sexual desires and, consequently, starts to go crazy because not only is he a priest in the original Victor Hugo novel, he's also the Archdeacon of Notre Dame. How's that for awesomely dark? :)

Shere Khan and Ratigan are basically the same kind of villain: a classy gentleman during most of the film, that turns into a complete beast at the end
